News Manager’s contract termination not linked to RB’s Kasama news clip-ZNBC

Share

ZNBC Board Chairperson AUGUSTINE SEYUBA says the termination of former News Manager KELLY CHUBILI’s services is part of the on-going re-organisation announced earlier by the board.

Mr SEYUBA says the termination of the services of Mr CHUBILI is not linked to the wrong assertion of an alleged directive attributed to State House Press Aide DICKSON JERE.

He told ZNBC news in a statement today that termination of the services of Mr CHUBILI is part of an on-going exercise approved by the ZNBC board at its sitting on 9th October, this year.

Mr SEYUBA has explained that the termination of Mr CHUBILI’s services is also not connected to the alleged failure to show news clips of recent Presidential activities in KASAMA.

He said the action is also NOT as a result of a ZNBC reporter who is alleged to have complained to Mr JERE about the newsroom operations during the KASAMA Campaigns.

Mr SEYUBA further explained that ZNBC has not held Mr CHUBILI responsible for the failure to show clips of the Presidential functions on television as they arose out of the incompatibility of the systems used in transmitting the video footage.

He said Mr CHUBILI was not fired but had his services terminated under the provisions of his conditions of service where either the employee or employer could opt to terminate employment.

  1. Ba Chale lelo nimwe muliko? How are you? There’s some rotten fish in the termination of Chubili’s contract. Seyuba is just sugar coating it.

  2. Seyuba spare us those lies, aren’t you the one who 48 hours ago was saying you are not aware of Chubili,s situation?

  3. Yes Tionge, I just happened to be the early bird of the momment. You’re right, Chubili was clearly served a raw deal.

  4. Why do you all say that Chubili was served a wrond deal or is being fixed. Is he the onle one whos contract was terminated. Please dont take everything reported in the press as gospel

  5. Seyuba you are in the same saga. You are one of the corrupt directors and looking at your statement you are just been told to say what ever you saying to spare your job

  6. Ka Seyuba dont smear yourself with filthy like bena Mulongoti, shikapwasha, kande etc Any why cant you just resign than smearing yourself?

  7. Seyuba, there’s no shame in speaking the truth. How can your absolute ignorance over the matter turn into re-organisation? Are these not matters that are brought to your board before decisions are made? Do not insult us Zambians by using the same media you represent….shame on you!!!!

  8. Maboza yaso situfuna. Just be man enough and confess that you acted on instructions fro your appointing authority

  9. Seyuba, we call this waffling. Why didn’t you know about this re-organization as the Board chairman 2 days ago? And are you not ashamed to do this denial instead of the management? Denied this, then this also, then that…eh!!

  10. This is clearly the ZNBC is owned by the MMD, just read carefully in those lines ba Seyuba was told what to say and well composed.Shame that we ahve the dogs ranning the show in Zambia

  11. Why do you call this a democracy? The cabinet controls ZNBC, Times, Zambia Daily Mail and ZANIS; four major news media; leaving no room for freedom of expression. A President who understands democracy would be the first one to refuse to own media. Clearly all presidents from Kaunda, Chiluba Mwana wasa to Banda have been self-serving thats why they have never seen it fit to hand these news media to some other ZAMBIANS other than government. Donors should demand these institutions be handed over to the public! or at least share them 5050 if we are too primitive in our understanding of democracy to let go of them. At the moment it means only views that are pro-government prevail in our democracy..What a farce!

  12. As far as I know freedom of speech is the basis of democracy. So if Chiluba really wanted to lead us from KK’s oppression in 1991 he should have parted with KK’s habit of controlling the press. Chiluba didn’t because he was just another actor in Animal Farm as Levy and Rupiah have also proved to be. In Democracies governments dont own media because this interferes with the governed people’s freedom of speech. So why haven’t we followed suit? We must not copy or pretend to copy things we dont understand. Are we copying to be seen as being civilised? That is hypocrisy. Lets be what we are!

  13. Ba Seyuba, in the auditors report you were mentioned as having allowed 22 seatings instead of 4.Meaning that all our K3,000 licence fees went into servicing your pocket, are you gonna fire your self as well?

  14. ‘Distinguished ministers, distinguished thieves, distinguished bootlickers, distinguished liars,

distinguished money launderers, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, it is my privilege to welcome you here to day to celebrate our Independence Day.

  15. #16 Your point is valid but not solid. I mean, ZNBC,Times of Zambia, Daily , Zana/ZIS were created by government to be government mouth pieces. Nothing has changed this position. Any worker belonging to these organizations will be fired or will have their services terminated once found operating to the contrary. Now, this leaves room for other media outlets like LT, Post plus others that call themselves independent to begin to play their role of reporting with integrity. Being independent is not necessarily reporting against govt. However, the demands are non the less same for the private or government media. We want the truth. We want integrity from our news organizations

  16. Why terminate the contract of an innocent person? why didn’t they terminate of those who misappriopriated some funds as reported by the audit report? Shame on seyuba and ZNBC Board. Ba Mwankole

  17. Seyuba, the chap also now seems to be wedded to the kaca of telling lies, ama internal politics a kunya Seyuba uleke sure munee!
