Barclays Chipata constructs K8m feeder road

Barclays Bank Chipata Branch in Eastern Province has constructed a 2.4 kilometer feeder road along airport road where Chipata Municipal Council is putting up a market.

The feeder road which was constructed at a total cost of K8 Million was put up by the branch under the Make a Difference Day (MADD), part of the Bank’s community service programmes.

Branch Corporate Manager Anderson Zulu disclosed this when he handed over the road to Chipata Municipal Council yesterday.

Mr. Zulu said that the Bank saw the need to construct a road that gets to the new market as a way of ploughing some of its profits back into the community. He said that it was the intention of the bank to get involved in developmental projects such as road construction.

Mr. Zulu said the MADD programme was conducted worldwide where each branch of the Bank was required to carry out developmental projects to help communities.

And Chipata Acting Town Clerk Andrew Zulu commended Barclays bank for getting involved in developmental projects.
Mr. Zulu stated that the council on its own could not have managed to raise funds for the construction of the road in the area.

The Town Clerk noted that residents in the area would also benefit from the newly constructed road as most roads in the area were impassable.
He further called on business houses in the district to emulate Barclays bank by getting involved in developmental programmes in communities.

  1. GRZ Plc can you please also start banking with Barclays. What has Finance bank or First Alliance Bank done for the people of Zambia. FAB is at the apex of MoH kapoko scandal and FBZ just swallows ZRA takings

  2. Such donations though small looking at the huge business Barclays is enjoying in Chipata should have doubled the amount. In any case as the saying goes ” Beggers should never choosers” Chapwa.

  3. the market is the key to national development and investment.there is need to expand the market to meet the ever increasing demand. And good road network determines the usage or accessability of the market.many thanks goes to barclays zambia
