Mansa Catholic Diocese Bishop Patrick Chisanga has urged Zambians to continue praying for peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Bishop Chisanga observed that lack of peace in Congo is not only affecting citizens of that country but also citizens in its neighbouring countries

The Bishop cited Mantapala refugee resettlement in Luapula Province that is now home to about 20, 000 refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo as some some of the results of lack of peace in that country.

Speaking in his New Year message during mass yesterday, The Mansa Catholic Diocese Bishop indicated that if there was peace in Congo these people would have not run away from their homes.

Bishop Chisanga pointed out that once peace is restored in Congo countries like Zambia would be able to benefit more from the trade that is between these 2 countries.

He disclosed that there are a lot of economic activities which Zambians can benefit from Congo but that this is not fully happening due to instability in that country.

Bishop Chisanga said every Zambian should take keen interest in what is happening in Congo because in one way or another it has a bearing on Zambia.

Meanwhile Bishop Chisanga has appealed to politicians in Zambia to preach peace all the times.

He says whether one is in opposition or ruling party there is need to ensure that they put the interests of the country first.

Bishop Chisanga points out that politicians are not supposed to be selfish by just thinking about themselves as they pursue political positions but instead ensure that the interest of the nation comes first.

He observes that it is easy to start a war in a country as opposed to ending it therefore everyone should refrain from any activities which might bring conflict in the country.

  1. Kabila needs to be tried for crimes against Humanity in African courts , not the ICC, as soo as the new President is sworn in. African need to get on with dealing with their problems as soon as possible. We are sick of this this blatant greed.

  2. You can pray as much as you want it makes no difference…. Congo is Congo and will not change…..

  3. Selfish motives of leaders in Congo have brought about all the misery that people in that country have been going through. Minerals in that country is the major source of conflict fueled by lack of respect of the sovereignty for Congo.
