Opposition political parties contesting the Bahati parliamentary by-election have praised the people of Mansa for conducting peaceful campaigns ahead of Thursday’s polls.
UPND Chairman for Elections Garry Nkombo says Bahati is likely to be an example to the whole country for conducting peaceful campaigns.
Mr Nkombo, who is also Mazabuka Central Member of Parliament, says the Zambia Police Service has played a huge role in ensuring peace in Bahati.
He has told ZNBC News in an interview that the Luapula Province Police Command has been very impartial and professional in its execution of duty.
Mr Nkombo said the fact that ruling and opposition supporters can been seen campaigning and dancing side by side is a good sign that peaceful campaigns are possible in Zambia.
And United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia -UPPZ- Bahati Candidate Clement Mwila said the One Zambia One Nation slogan has inspired political parties to avoid political violence in Bahati.
Mr Mwila has told ZNBC News in an interview that his campaigns have been devoid of bitterness, insults or name calling which usually perpetuates violence.
Meanwhile, People’s Alliance for Change -PAC President Andyford Banda said his party is contesting the Bahati by-election in order to give alternative leadership.
Speaking when he featured on a live phone-in program on Radio Yangeni in Mansa this morning, Mr Banda said PAC wants to empower the people of Bahati when it wins.
He said sinking of boreholes and job creation are at the top of his candidate’s agenda in Bahati.
PF desisted from violence becoz they are sure Rigging both Bahati and Roan By-Elections. To PF what matters is to use ECZ and other Electoral Institutions to Rig the Elections. PF is testing its Election Rigging Template thru these By-Elections. Just wait and see!
Unlike other provinces Luapula is a peaceful very mature region. They don’t fight over nothing
Tulamweba, us in Luapula enjoy drinking and dancing akalindula that’s it.
Should we say CIVILIZATION arrived early in Luapula????
Axiomatic … way ahead of the curve are these smart people of the Zambian Enterprise called Luapulans. We deliberate passionately with everybody, fight with nobody and hold no grudges with anybody. Us guys and gals from Liverpool.
Tubulu emuntu bane … he sets the pace and everyone follows.
Let’s roll
Yamba Yamba, KK wanted all villages in Zambia to be arranged like they are in Luapula where people live in big and organized communities rather than small groups composed of family members.
Before the results you have started crying of rigging, just accept that as at now we don’t have any alternative party to take over from the PF, that’s why people will continue voting for the PF until you organize yourselves
luapula pipo are cowards UKUTA AMAKHOFI
Negative … way ahead of the curve are these smart people of the Zambian Enterprise called Luapulans. We deliberate passionately with everybody, fight with nobody and hold no grudges with anybody.
Us guys and gals from Liverpool. Growing up, we are told never to fight with anybody because fighting is a sure sign that one has failed to reason or convince another that his point of view is reasonably right.
We would rather disagree to agree peacefully and let the best team win at the end of the day. Ukulwa fiko saana kweesu. Luapulans ain’t got time for such nonsense.
Tubulu emuntu bane … he sets the pace and everyone follows.
Let’s roll
UKUTINA OLO KUYOPA
If you really want to know what direction the entire country is moving towards politically, pay attention to the what the people in Luapula are doing. KK knew that very well … Did you know that three quarters of coup attempts in Zambia were instigated by Luapulan Commanders in the Army, Air Force back then?
Does the name Mwamba Luchembe right a bell to you?? Smart guys come from Liverpool.
Let’s roll …
FTJ brought you multi-partism through the MMD when the entire country was dead scared of KK, FTJ threw his hat in the ring and the rest is history.
Luapulans don’t yopa anything … we are fearless but pragmatic, badala. I don’t agree with FTJ’s politics but I am proud to say it took a fellow Luapulan to liberate you from one-party participatory democracy.
And by the way, I am still a UNIPist and I will die one.
Let’s roll …
#2 EX-MAROON, “…. as at now we don’t have any alternative party to take over from the PF, that’s why people will continue voting for the PF until you organize yourselves…..”.
Exactly my position, no more no less. Trib.als are no option at all, I keep saying. Just look at the fat bum who thinks that he is the republican president of Roan, the fact f000l can’t tell a constituency from a country. And then look at Trib.al Hacks the new president of Kambwili, campaigning for himself not for the NDC candidate. Now voters will be looking for the face of Trib.al Hacks on the ballot paper on Thursday, and when they lose ati rigging.
How can this surprise anyone? Let’s not beat about the bush. Political violence is as a result of people being indoctrinated that people belonging to party X are oppressive aliens and must not be entertained. I’m sure some will try to deny this but inside they know it’s the truth. The person responsible for this must go back to his tribesmen and re educate them so that we can start having peaceful elections. Why hack another person just to send another person to state house or parliament?
PF uses violence once it knows that it has the potential to lose. In UPND strongholds, PF brings violence so that they win and say are penetrating the areas. Mr. Nkombo is naive and other opposition to think peaceful elections are possible under PF. PF will never relinquish power any time soon and once threatened resort to violence.
You love violence, just admit it.
Violence has got a negative impact politically. I dont know why some *****s like violence. Do they get any money?
Know that in Luapula people have never fought
But during the struggle for independence Luapula was the leader of the Cha Cha Cha.
@ Ndanje Khaki….. Thats why they are brave because they know when a person needs to be fought. They don’t fear when they mean to fight for a cause. Like during the struggle for independence, theY fought the cha cha cha war against the imperialists a cause which was justifiable.
But you will never hear of them hacking and pangaing and matcheting each other in the name of politics ….just to let one person go to plot one or parliament. No no, this can not happen in that they respect each person’s choice. It is a province where you will find in the same household there several parties to which members belong to. No wonder Nkombo is surprised that the cadres of different parties can dance side by side without any fighting. It is because they are brothers and sisters but just belong…
…..but just belong to different political parties.
Just entered a former mine club and this guy is rejoicing that “Kaiser Zulu naba moponona, I am glad bamucenjesha…” Fortunately the entire counter disagreed with him. He’s an NDC member looking at his regalia and Kambwili type of body.
We are now able to see where violence is mostly prominent. If other political parties were to be allowed to campaign freely in a particular we can see alot of maturity in our politics. So those who cause violence in other areas but campaign peacefully in other areas should be ashamed.
We thank God for the peaceful by election. May we continue in harmony.
