James Chamanga brace downs Lusaka Dynamos

Ex-Chipolopolo striker James Chamanga starred for his new club Red Arrows on Sunday with a brace in a 2-1 away win over Lusaka Dynamos at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

The goals were Chamanga’s first since he returned home a month ago and joined Arrows following a decade-and-a-half abroad that had taken him from the South African PSL to the Chinese Super League.

Both goals came in the opening first half to help Arrows jump from fifth to third displacing Dynamos from that spot after Sunday’s results.

Chamanga struck in the first minute after firing a pass from Bruce Musakanya.

But Arrows defender Elvis Bissong scored an own-goal in the 24th minute to hand Dynamos the equalizer.

However, Chamanga put Arrows back ahead the 27th minute when he beat two Dynamos defender and goalkeeper Monga Ndala.

Dynamos then suffered a major setback in their bid to come back when the league s top scorer on 9 goals Chris Mugalu was stretchered off with a suspected concussion in the 35th minute.

Arrows have 24 points, tied with second placed Zesco United but are both two points adrift of Pool A leaders Zanaco with four games left to play.

Dynamos drop to fourth on 23 points.

Meanwhile in Pool B, Green Eagles failed to open a six point lead after a 0-0 away draw at Nkwazi.

The draw denied Eagles an opportunity to collect three successive away games since they beat Buildcon 1-0 away in Ndola on Good Friday to exchange places in the top two.

Eagles followed that result with a 4-1 away win over Nkana in Kitwe on April 24.

Eagles have 28 points four more than Buildcon and third placed Nkwazi.
