Milingo condemns parties inciting violence among youth

Share

Former Lusaka Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo.

Former Lusaka Catholic Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo has condemned opposition political parties inciting violence among the youth.

He said in Lusaka yesterday that promoting violence among young people showed that the country was diverting from the norms and values of a Christian nation.

Archbishop Milingo, who was speaking in Lusaka when he ordained five bishops from Jehovah’s Kingdom Assemblies Church, said the custom by some opposition political party leaders to insult those in authority was worrying and should be brought to an end.

Archbishop Milingo said Zambians should not allow divisions to rock the country and called on the people to live by the golden motto of ‘One Zambia, One Nation.’

And Archbishop Milingo urged the newly-ordained bishops to serve God and the people with sincerity.

Bishops Council of Zambia director-general Isaac Chabwera in his homily said the office of bishop called for sacrifice.

Local Government and Housing Deputy Minister Moses Muteteka said once one accepted the office of bishop, they were expected to devote time to preaching the Gospel and to unite the people.

  1. Please LT for once in your miserable lives get the facts straight! Milingo was excommunicated from the Catholic church and he no longer holds the title of Archbishop was stripped from him by the pontificate. The term former Archbishop is misleading because it can imply that he is still a member of the Catholic church when he is not. Example Merdado Mazombwe is also Former Archbishop of Lusaka but he is still a priest and a catholic, he has just retired from the position.

  2. Imwe naimwe ba number 2 what is your beef with LT? Is it not a fact that Milingo is a former Catholic Archbishop of Lusaka? Get a life and leave LT and the former bishop alone.

  3. Moderator #1 Please get your names right. Its not Jehovah’s Witnesses, the bishops are from Jehovah’s Assembly Church, please read carefully.

  4. This man refused to baptise Dorothy Masuka’s daughter because she was born out of wedlock, but he himself goes to break one of the Catholics most important cannon laws, celebacy. Dont listen to him.He forgets that William Banda of MMD who actually is related to Milingo is the source of the current tension in the country.

  5. Naimwe ba no#2 ….He is Arch Bishop or whatever in his church NOT your Catholic church. There is life after ****ing kids in your church!

  6. #3 and #6,He can be the “god” in his church for all I care. The point I am trying to put across is that LT should be professional in the way they write the stories and get the facts straight.Yes Mr. Milingo was former Archbishop of Lusaka, # 3. I totally agree with you.

  7. #3 , #6 AND # 7 ..iam a zambian seminarian , just a point of correction Mr milingo is no longer is no longer fit to be called an arcbishop is just like any kaponya on the station even me a seminarian am better than him in the catholic church.but still using catholic vestiments , what does imply? milingo can not tell me that he did not know than priests in the catholic church does not marry akwatila imfwi mukatolika so all what he does is just pressure ya banakashi..and those are not ordinations for your own imformation…just something else and LT those are not homilies,,those are just plain words and milingo dont talk about oppositions just be open and say you belong to MMD..Milingo you walitusebanya fwema zambian ” preists and seminarinas in zambia……”’

  8. I think poeple should know the truth about Mr Milingo….Mr Milingo yes he was a catholic and he was in the church….After Milingo lost the direction the mother church got all the titles pettaining to him…at this moment Milingo is like me in other words a layman…I tottally agree with you number 2 ….And talking about his ordination yes he is a right person to ordin but not in the name of the church ….the church is scred in all the ways…….The fact is Milingo was excommunicated meaning is outside the church. The term former Archbishop is misleading

  9. #10 Emmanuel- The only thing that Milingo has lost is the title of Bishop. He still remains an ordained priest but cannot perform duties in the Church. Jut like baptism, priest hood is one of the Sacraments that remain with you until death. One can only be stopped from UKUKOMANIKA but will still keep these 2. A doctor can lose his practicing certificate, but will remain a doctor so it the same with this case.

  10. # 11 DEJA VU … What number in the canoon law are you quoting? i agree with you there are preists in the catholic church that are preists but can not perform any duties but in case of of mr milingo as been taken out even his tittle in the catholic church, and this he knows! so please dont talk about things that you dont know well becouse you maybe using a protestant book to defend him..maybe outside but in the catholic church is not more please……read this…..

  11. # 11 DEJA VU…! things in the church are ordered man! read this………………….”According to canon 292 of the Code of Canon Law, the penalty of dismissal from the clerical state, now added to the grave penalty of excommunication, has the following effects: loss of the rights and duties attached to the clerical state, except for the obligation of celibacy; prohibition of the exercise of any ministry, except as provided for by canon 976 of the Code of Canon Law in those cases involving danger of death; loss of all offices and functions and of all delegated power, as well as prohibition of the use of clerical attire. Consequently, the participation of the faithful in any future celebrations organised by Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo is to be considered unlawful.

  12. I think man you are offside…Try to play the ball inside….don’t behave like you don’t hv any idea about catholicsm….And i guess you don’t hv any idea ..but let me tell you number 11 it will be good for you man talking like a man who is outside the church i will understand you as tablaraza…-this things wich you are talking about are not there in the in the code of canon…..”According to canon 292 of the Code of Canon Law, the penalty of dismissal from the clerical state, now added to the grave penalty of excommunication, has the following effects: loss of the rights and duties attached to the clerical state, except for the obligation of celibacy; prohibition of the exercise of any :d:d:d:d

  13. I have a problem with Millingo, He takes sides instead of preaching to all that have gone wrong. MMD, UPND and PF have gone overboard during campaigns. Each party has Reasons. But Millingo should condemn eveyrone not just saying the opposition. Even the “ruling” MMD are in the habit of a lot of electro malpractise. Sugar Daddy – dishing out sugar etc.

  14. Zambian seminarian & Emmanuel, well explained just a point to put a clarification, just keep in mind that Milingo was ordained Bishop NOT elected,so he is a bishop forever. Its just like baptism & priesthood the ordination leaves an indelible mark on his soul.Everything else u are right the canon law etc.So the ordination that he does are considered unlawful and the church does not intend to recognise them at any point. The other thing is when a sacrament is being conferred the right thing has to be done & not to bring doubt,Milingo’s ordinations are just the same as using coke to baptise a person it brings about doubt as baptism should be done with water,we dont have to look for percentage of water in coke.therefore he can still be called bishop but whatever he does is doubtful. No…

  15. #16 cont.. No guarantee that the sacrament is taking place or has taken place.
And that’s also a good point that he has been reduced to the lay state, therefore he is a LAYMAN.the canon law is clear.

Its seems to me that Milingo has agenda, possibly wishing to get government support some how, or may be he is thinking of opening up his Church.
by the way I think the church he “ordained bishops” is a combination of Jehovah’s witnesses and Assemblies of God. That is looking at the name of the Church. Anyhow that’s my assumption whether thats the truth that’s something else.

I think LT or Times of Zambia should have put The Excommunicated Catholic Archbishop… It is a fact that Milingo is now a protestant.

  16. the whole question of a milingo is so confusing. well we know icakakwa pacalo nakumulu… maybe the man still has the power even when the catholic jurisdictions are clear on this. who knows we may be fighting against God, if its human it will die (Gamario in the bible)

  17. # 16 and #17 SCHOLARSTIC… Thanks very much for the point of correction, well noted! i dont have any comments against you…!!!! keep cool.

  18. All this nonsense about Archbishop Milingo being a layman is sheer stupidity. Catholic Theology teaches that once you are a priest or a bishop — you are a priest or bishop forever. The sacraments are permanent and of a higher order than canon law. Canon law cannot erase a sacrament. So Archbishop Milingo cannot ever become a layman even if the pope says he is. The infallible pope is in error when he says such stupidity. The Vatican is playing childish media games here and it flies back in their face because it is not truthful. It is time for the pope and his clergy and his seminarians to act in a professional manner. (Married Priests USA)

  19. Archbishop is a Roman Catholic Archbishop and will be until he is taken by the Lord to his Kingdom. He is not a Protestant or anything else. He is Roman Catholic. He celebrates daily mass, prays the Divine Office, prays three Rosaries (one for the pope) daily. He meditates, does spiritual readings and preaches. Archbishop Milingo is a holy man. He is prophetic and has a role to play in today’s church. His mission is to reinstate the married priesthood as it was in the time of Jesus. The Married Priesthood was part of the Tradition of the Church and the church had no right to change that. Celibacy is only in place to protect and reinforce the high state of the hierarchy (clericalism).

  20. It would be helpful if the author of this article clarified who was ordained as bishops. It is likely that Archbishop Milingo only used the Jehovah Assembly church Building. Milingo knows sacramental theology and he would not ordain any candidate that was not a Catholic priest. (Married Priests USA)

  21. Eeeh so this Millingo is still Catholic Archbishop and full time than ever before? But the only difference with the other bishops is this one has a wife while the others its nil nil. These ma churches very funny indeed.

  22. let those who register churches (Registrar of churches if atall it exists) be serious i was thinking the same way my man on top let them leave the Jehovas Witnesses alone why should they allow a church call it self Jehova’s Kingdom Assemblies church

  23. Ba #21-22, you are so hell bent on defending someone you dont know well. Why are you denying that Milingo cannot ordain non priests to episcopate… well he just did. He threw away his sacramental theology the day he went against it and now he is busy ordaining everyone in makeshift churches. Wake up and accept reality. The man has lost it. Hope you are doing a better job as a married priest.

  24. Archbishop Brennan ARCHBISHOP BRENNAN,# 20, 21 AND 21… The catholic church is clear on this one , all your commets are useless and if you are one of them , you are just working in oder to get money to support your parents, and your ****ing children ..Milingo he is not a catholic bishop. preist neither a seminarian ..a seminarian is now better than milingo so dont be fooled with money.in short is stealing your mind with money becouse you are poor together with with your parents being in milingo is the means of living….that one is mr milingo now he failed to hold his feelings got a korian sex lady afulungana..am telling you milingo one day he is going to come back to the church and you will remain alone–this i promise you and day or another…….i forgive you you are speaking out of @#

  25. # 13ZAMBIAN SEMINARIAN- I think you missed my point. Yes Milingo cannot perform church duties. What I was talking about are the 7 Sacraments of the Church out of which 2 cannot be repeated or taken away- Baptism and the laying of hands. I did not refer to any Cannon Law. A priest can marry but you will still call him father although he will be excluded from performing the duties of a priest. Please read carefully instead of trying to show off that you know better than others.

  26. # 28 Deja Vu..my dear the catholic church on the issue of milingo is clear…….not even a title of a father has been left with him this clear, i guess! (17 Dec 09 – RV) It was also announced Thursday that the Holy See has dismissed Archbishop Emmuanuel Milingo from the clerical state.meaning is not a father or preist in the catholic church…in the catholic church can not be treated like a father but like any other faithful…the holy see said fromthen on..is MR NOT FATHER…..

  27. I think we should leave Milingo and his action to God Almighty. No body is upright in the eyes of the Lord. Believe in what you want to believe but please don’t try to force anyone on your side. That the spirit.
