THE youth wings of the United Party for National Development (UPND) and the Patriotic Front (PF) have clashed, pushing the shaky pact into further disarray.
UPND national youth chairman Joe Kalusa, in an apparent response to a scathing attack by PF youth national secretary Eric Chanda yesterday, has maintained that the MMD is poised to scoop the 2011 general elections because it has a good working manifesto compared to the PF-UPND pact which has no clear set programmes.
Mr Kalusa charged that he will not be intimidated by any PF machinations to silence him because he is simply stating the truth.
[pullquote]“ I cannot resign from the pact or UPND and if these people want, let them take me to a disciplinary committee that is if there is a disciplinary committee in the pact. If there is one then, I am ready to appear on that committee together with the likes of Mwenya Musenge (Copperbelt PF provincial chairperson), Guy Scott (PF vice-president) and Wynter Kabimba (PF secretary general) for issuing unwarranted remarks against the pact,” he said.[/pullquote]
Mr Chanda, in an angry response yesterday, called for Mr Kalusa’s resignation after he made his controversial prediction. However, in an apparent departure from his seemingly unflinching support to the pact, Mr Chanda told the PF-UPND leadership to step aside and allow the youth wings to take over the reigns of power because they have allegedly failed to steady the shaky pact.
Mr Kalusa said in an interview yesterday in Ndola that he does not regret his remarks at a press briefing on Sunday in Kitwe and dared pact officials to drag him to any disciplinary committee and wondered whether the pact has such a committee to deal with offenders.
“Let me tell these people in the pact that I am a fearless man and I cannot be bought by anyone. I stand by what I said during the press briefing in Kitwe because I believe that only the truth can set me free. I cannot resign from the pact or UPND and if these people want, let them take me to a disciplinary committee that is if there is a disciplinary committee in the pact. If there is one then, I am ready to appear on that committee together with the likes of Mwenya Musenge (Copperbelt PF provincial chairperson), Guy Scott (PF vice-president) and Wynter Kabimba (PF secretary general) for issuing unwarranted remarks against the pact,” he said.
Mr Kalusa said those calling for his ‘blood’ are wasting their time and warned that if the pact does not heed to his one-month ultimatum of coming up with a clear manifesto and a working programme, he will announce the next course of action against the alliance.
He said unlike the MMD which is effectively campaigning at grass root level countrywide, the pact is using radio stations and the press without the leaders explaining what they will do if elected into office.
“Our colleagues, the MMD are campaigning by holding huge rallies countrywide, they are telling people what they have done and what they intend to do for them but the PF-UPND pact is busy campaigning through some radio stations and the press without a manifesto. When the MMD wins the presidential elections next year, these are the same people who are going to be crying that the elections have been rigged,” Mr Kalusa said.
He charged that the pact only becomes active when the country has a by-election in a particular constituency.
[pullquote] “As PF youths we are challenging him to resign from the pact because he is acting like one who has been bought,” Mr Chanda said.[/pullquote]
Mr Kalusa said the pact does not have a working programme and wondered why PF leader Michael Sata and his UPND counterpart, Hakainde Hichilema have allegedly failed to hold a rally together to thank the electorates in Chifubu for voting for the pact’s candidate, Susan Kawandami.
“People must not pretend. There are problems in the pact. Currently, the PF is carrying an advertisement saying they are holding a rally on the Copperbelt, why can’t they hold a rally together with the UPND.
The same PF has already declared that they will contest the Mpulungu by-election without consulting the pact members in the UPND. These are some of the things that show that there are problems in the pact,” Mr Kalusa said.
He said he consulted widely before holding the press briefing in Kitwe and urged pact officials who are calling for his resignation to address the concerns he raised instead of calling him names.
[pullquote] “This young man has gone too far and I think there is need for us in the UPND to deal with him. I am going to phone him so that I talk to him,” he said. [/pullquote]
But Mr Chanda urged Mr Kalusa to resign from the pact instead of causing confusion in the alliance. “As PF youths we are challenging him to resign from the pact because he is acting like one who has been bought,” Mr Chanda said.
Mr Chanda on Monday appealed to PF-UPND pact leaders to allow their youth wings to take over the running of the alliance until all the pending issues surrounding the partnership are resolved.
He urged Mr Sata and Mr Hichilema to hand over the management of the pact to the youth wings so that other leaders who issue unwarranted statements can be disciplined.
And UPND chairman for education science and technology Luxon Kazabu has urged Mr Kalusa to stop misleading the youths and called on his party to discipline him for allegedly ‘insulting’ the alliance leaders.
Mr Kazabu said there is need for Mr Hichilema to discipline Mr Kalusa for issuing disparaging remarks. He said in an interview in Kitwe yesterday that Mr Kalusa is causing unnecessary confusion in the pact. “This young man has gone too far and I think there is need for us in the UPND to deal with him. I am going to phone him so that I talk to him,” he said.

Circus 101
The diametrically opposed call their narcissism pact.
Which self respected citizen would risk his model state of enduring peace and stability with a cabal of tribalists, vandals, haters, anarchists, land concessioners and anti democracy?
Things fall apart. If PF think they can dislodge MMD on their own, that is the end.
The country under RB has overcome polarization, vindictiveness, complicity with imperialism, coercesion, indignation and forefeiture of sovereignity for names. Only mature patriots of RB’s tested leadership deserve to hold the tenure beyond 2011. Cabals would start Chawamalizing and Mapatizyaling each other given state tools of power.
On “And UPND chairman for education science and technology Luxon Kazabu has urged Mr Kalusa to stop misleading the youths and called on his party to discipline him for allegedly ‘insulting’ the alliance leaders… there is need for Mr Hichilema to discipline Mr Kalusa for issuing disparaging remarks,” I am surprised that Mr UPND’s L. Kazabu is acting emotionally instead of being sober minded like his UPND spokesperson Hon C. Kakoma did in yesterday’s news edition.
I hope the mighty UPND under Mr UPND president HH will support its UPND Youth Wing and the UPND Youth Chairman Joe Kalusa.
To the PF Youth Chairperson, I urge him to push for a disciplinary action to be done on PF vice-leader Guy Scott through his pf youth wing.
Have a blessed day all.

Matt 6:33 But…
Iye mayo! Surely what Kalusa is saying valid and reasonable? Why cant they produce a manifesto on how they will govern the country? Where is the shadow cabinet for example who is the pact spokesperson on finance or agriculture? The reason why there is no shadow cabinet is because it would cause further divisions with those who have not been given positions threatening to disrupt the weak alliance. I feel sorry for HH, he has wasted a lot of time. He could have used the time to build up the image of UPND. With youth on his side and engaging in issue based politics, he would have made Sata look like the dinosaur he really is. The fact that he thought an alliance with Sata would work leads me to question his analytical and strategic planning skills.
Good News Good News to the sitting Govt………………..Congrats for 2011!
Chiwamila garu kuluma. Where is a system you are envoking to deal with Kalusa that leaves Gay Scott, Kabimba and Mwenya Musenga free for all their indiscipline? Is discipline preserved for UPND activists only in this dead pact?
I think Joe Kalusa has a point. The PACT needs an ultimatum to come up with a program of action. In the same vein, Sata and HH should be locked up somewhere until they agree who should be presidential candidate with an MOU on next steps which all PACT members must buy into. Its wrong to go on like this….. from whence they should start start campaigning together. Dont worry about some fall outs. They will always be there whichever way things go….. These fall outs will come back as momentum is built.
Imiti ipalamene taibula kukwesana bane. The thing about politics is that pipo will always try to hold on to their beliefs on whom is the best leader and what is best. That defines humanity, what is happening in the pact is normal because it is an group composed of pipo with conflicting beliefs and fears. My hope is that they will try to find a common ground in order to solve their differences.Viva pact for showing us what the true meaning of democracy is.:-?
Kalusa is right. The PF think they can dislodge the MMD on their own, hence the disrespect now for their counterparts. Kalusa is right. If when the PF needs the UPND so much to win elections it can be very disrespectful, then what more after winning. They will be telling off the UPND that we didnt even need you to win elections in the first place. Luxon Kazabu and HH must wake up and open their eyes.
kazabu you are a fool, people like you are just in the wings hoping to get jobs in the event of govt.that’s why you cant gather enough courage to attack sata, kabimba and scott.you got one foot in upnd for convinience and the other in pf. come on joe malema kalusa bash the assholes
PF is intolerant of aberrant views and behavior of UPND political activists but not those of its own cadres. The scheme is to systematically strangulate Mazoka’s dream taking advantage of a politically challenged Ichilema. This scheme has eroded the little credibility that ever existed since.
#5 Senior Citizen – YOU THINK MMD IS ANY DIFERENCE? What about the Magandes, the Shakafuswas, Mpombo, Chibombamilimo(MHRIP)etc? The only thing saving MMD is that RB controlls the Nation Funds. Should MMD go out, people like Senior Citizen will be blogging under different names in favour of who ever shall wield Nation Power. Actually what is happening in the PACT is good so that what ever probleblems they have are not suppressed.
While gasping for air in your deathbed, go for a convention now to elect a people’s leadership democratically. As long as you have unmandated self imposed surrogates at the peak of this circus, yours will escalate into moto wambili against selves no extinguisher can put off except political history. MMD is interested in having a strong opposition than a shell of opposition that you are ladden with insulting menus.
In most countries that experience mediocre leadership, soldiers take over, or civil war erupts. You MMD chaps and your state machinery are forgeting that Zambia is for all, and not you alone. Nga fyapena, as was the case in Kenya, you will equally be affected.
Any mature Zambian has known that Sata would never work with the political shadow of late Mwanamubotu Kambela Mazoka whom he harbored incorrigible hatred, envy and vents for his spirit of excellence and intellect.Sata is only comfortable with thugs and insecure intellectuals (boers) whom he can easily declare PNG at will on the basis of indifferences.
# 17 you self hated dreamer in overdrive dreams, in whose interest would you want to take off your own mother? You do not even understand the genesis of Kikuyu Vs, Luo hegemony or indeed post colonial conflicts.
It was a fake alliance from the on set……just cheated us for their own selfish motives..abash pact!!!!
wake up and smell the coffee, this pact is goin nowhere. how do u expect these people to lead the country? no waaaaaaaay
19
Cant even see when he insults.
How could he not see the trouble brewing now in Zambia.
21
The coffee smells bad like the party in control.
It’s old and out of date.
Past it’s useful purpose date.
Kalusa has raised fundamental issues that should be addresses. Kakoma handled the issue very well in his response yesterday and it is better for the likes of Kazabu to keep their mouths shut. I am worried that Kazabu has inherited undemocratic manners from PF. UPND should be above meritocracy and promote internal democracy. They shouldn’t repeat the Chizyuka mistake. It is better to have him inside the party and constrained than let him outside and let loose or worse allow them become a figurehead MMD propaganda against UPND.
Ati Viva Pact!! my toes’ nails.
Gaddafi frustrated with African mentality:
Black Africa says:
September 1, 2010 at 1:50 pmGaddafi wants EU cash to stop African migrants
Despite historical tensions Col Gaddafi has forged friendlier relations with Italy Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi says the EU should pay Libya at least 5bn euros (£4bn; $6.3bn) a year to stop illegal African immigration and avoid a “black Europe”.
“We don’t know what will happen, what will be the reaction of the white and Christian Europeans faced with this influx of starving and ignorant Africans,” Col Gaddafi said.
“We don’t know if Europe will remain an advanced and united continent or if it will be destroyed, as happened with the barbarian invasions
black africa?? walipena iwe eh? LT is a reporter enough for us we dont need other liars here, we are fine with LT’s lies. coming to the news, in conclusion zambians are fools! yes i said it! go tell yo daddy!zambians are dull, poor and lack any common sense. thats why i am no longer zambian!
Pact leaders, Pact supporters, have one big problem, you are quick to label any opposing view as that of MMD. I should say this has been your down fall. Kalusa has raised points that Chizyuka was raising last year, what did UPND do, they quickly expelled him. I see Kalusa following in Chizyuka’s foot steps, these words by Kazuba dont look good for the young man. Zed Patriot you are right in your reasoning, but what you and many supporters of this alliance here have failed to admit is that this alliance was not consolidated well at formation, it was a rushed alliance and all these problems arising now, boil down to one issue, a leader should have been identified, the lack of a face for this pact has been its doom. UPND keeping holding on to the belief of a pact, untill your last breath.
Tolerance and democracy must be observed at all times.
If the PF members are the type of people that get easily agitated, then the pact will not work.
The youths are the majority in the pact hence their voice must be heard and respected. Look at ANC in SA, they surely never ignore the youths.
You can ignore the voice of the youths at your own detriment.
Lose the youths and lose the votes. 2011 here we come !
The truth of the matter is, MMD will win next years elections if the so called pact continue with their s.tu.pi.d squabbles. Whats the fight all about when its very clear that only HH is suitable to lead the pact??? Sata should forget about rulling this country. he partly ruled Kaunda and Chiluba Eras , so what else does he want???
Why do the trugh hurt?
My advice to the two pact leaders is here. Let them step up their compaigns in the country. Let them take Kalusa’s simple advice and resolve all issues at once. It is better now than later for the pact. Look at Kalusa’s statement as a stepping stone into another era of productivity. Turn the page from here and stop the sleeping ! If you don’t, you live to regret.
You see, Sata has nothing to lose in this because he is an old man with dreams but no vision. For HH, all is at stake because he is a young man with vision but no dreams and can shape his futere right from here without wasting it!
# 27 katoloshi kobe, if you and your clan are dull it does not mean that everybody else is. You must be a disgruntled fool! How could you speak like that! You a disgrace not only to yourself but your entire clan. You popi!
#27 Ndalya live iwe shi mabolo, the only people who are poverty stricken here in zambia is your fatherand your extended family, that’s why you opted to run away and seek solace in washing dishes there it’s because of poverty in your family circles.umfwa chitole, bambi we are doing fine.to demostrate to you tell me in which town and country you are i buy an air ticket just to come and excreate in a five star hotel and come back immediately

Let me teach you from the few proverb I know so you PACT people can get wisdom. They say, ntolentole ujanya kali kule ie procrastination brings near what misfortune was afar off. So don’t delay. Inkanga itola uli alubilo i.e the quickest person will catch the guine foul. If you are slow in compaigns for 2011, forget because you should know the race is decided now and not in 2011. Come 2011 you will be saying, sembe, sembe./em>
Can someone help me with some more wisdom proverbs …
Emergency #35…Ndalya Live… you need to have your head examined ASAP!!!!
# 35, iwe kolwe waya sana! Who cares about your citizeship! You must be an i.d.i.o.t. How dare you insult me like that? Don’t make sweeping statements on this blog, mfuli yobe! We chipuba iwe.
What is going on in the PACT. Scramble for plot 1? Are you aware that MMD is developing roads in different provinces?
Kalusa is my friend. I’m not cheating bloggers, kalusa has follen out with the TOP leadership in UPND that are close to HH. Especially top UPND leaders like Garry Nkombo. I understand his bitterness towards his party now. Kalusa holds a powerful post of Youth Chairman in UPND. He should engage UPND than issuing ultimatums to his party like a cadre. I have been a serious supporter of PF and through it the PACT. But I’m praying for spiritual guidance. I would not mind being in opposition but offering checks and balances so that resources that should benefit Zambians are not abused. That is sometimes a joy than being in leadership and ruling/plundering resources. But the PACT is not inspiring of late. HH is campaigning alone & Not commending Sata & Vice versa.MMD is not the altenative…
Ndalya is right. Some of you pipo just behave like babooms. Only preaching hatred and tribalism. From 1964 -2010 more inter marriages, i 46 years of ones should bring more unit in Zed and understanding of cultural diversity, but you still think other tribes are not Worth anything, and other tribes are more special? Does that reflect any wisdom in the Citizens of the country? Only foolishness of the highest order. NDALYA you are 100% perfect. It is the land of educated fools. Period!!!
Continued…… MMD is not the altenative. The Pact cant win rigged Presidential Elections without being united or as single PF or UPND. In Africa the incumbant Party bribes the rural votes. Even PF we lost Rural Copperbelt but won in |Urban Centres except Luanshya Constituency in Luanshya Kachimba beat us in Mikomfwa and we lost that Urban Seat. Now PF & UPND are by default handing MMD to continue looting our resources. The only reason MMD does not want to lose POWER is not because they care, but because they want to continue feasting on our resources. Look at most of them, their tummies are so bloated Liato & Daka. It’s a circus.
let us talk positively and what is best for all loving zambians instead of issuing statements which are not prograsive am refering to # 27. Stop insulting if your no longer belong to this peace loving Nation nja tuwe
40 & 42 Continued to this Page….. The PACT should have shown US the supporters that the TOP leadership is United. Mr. Sata & HH should be seen to be together from time to time. Even Sata’s daughter’s wedding, HH was not there even top UPND leadership were absent. Was that a coincident???? The PACT came into being with a laot of support from us Zambians. We can also deliver a protest vote to them in 2011 for taking us for a ride. I rememeber ONCE KK put them together so that they mount a formidable force but they failed to agree, result they miserably LOST. HH & Mr. Sata should come out in the open, it does not mean they announce now who leads the PACT but to show us the supporters that they are talking. Right now it’s very confusing.
The internecine project is coming to fruition! The chickens have come home to roost.
The centre cannot hold …things fall apart.
Mpangula i hear you. Sad as it may be we have now and will be left again alone came 2011. The problem is that i really dont see the focus in the PF-UPND pact. Any views opposed to whatever is happening if they came from a UPND side then his been bought, eh he has to be kicked out. As for PF Guy Scott will speak as much as he wishes no one will condemn him especially from the PF. I think people have lost it. We dont know where to look to….i have not registered yet i dont even know whether i should. May be ADD and Chipimo will deliver us. I think people should now focus on 2016 coz MMD is back in 2011. The best thing is we shall have more MPs from the opposition came 2011…that will achieve.
I am taking bets on when the pact is finally going to fall. Anybody who wants to place a bet can get in touch with at [email protected]
The one closest to the date will win the lot (ofcourse I will be taking a percentage for admin costs and the my fees).
It is very suprising to see how some zambians can think so low.For sure how can a nobody boy like kalusa creat so much confusions in the country? Dont tell me that the pact leadership are so dull that they are not looking into these issue the boy raised. The pact has people who are more intelligent than kalusa. Do you want them to start announcing to the public everything they are doing so that the MMD can debate them?only a fool would do that.
The fact is this boy is power hungry, he knows that he will not vie for any paliamentary seat on the CB,(were he claims to have support) if the PACT remains intact, because PF is likely to take up the province.Remember he contested as MP for Chingola and lost terribly. Pesonally this boy will not fool me no matter what he says
Headless chickens indeed!!!!!
Circus…..it is all about employment! All this debate is purely job seekung and indeed there will casulties in all parties contesting ,whether PACT OR RULING PARTY! GOD BLESS ZAMBIA
#48 Are you frightened of debate? Isn’t the Zambian electorate entitled to debate and challenge those seeking high office in their name? If the pact dont come up with a credible manifesto soon and expect me to blindly vote for them then they are in for a rude awakening. If they cant sort and organise themselves whilst in opposition how on earth will they make life better for ordinary Zambians in 90 days? Kalusa is simply asking for some sort of direction. I dont think it is unreasonable especially as he will be one of the people that will play a part in mobilising potential voters.
Can some one who has a number for Kalusa give me please, I want to pump some sence into this character. I worked with him and I know him very well. He is not that kind of a boy you can trust. He likes creating problems where he sees progress. He used to behave the same at work. He was thrown out of the university becuase of this kind of behaviour. Zambia can not afford to have such kind of leaders. We need leaders who promote pogress.
I can assure you this boy is a problem, UPND will continue getting more problems from him.He is just a confused leader. let UPND go to the CB and find out if the youths he represents are in support of his conduct. He is just representing himself because he is power hungry.

Things are falling apart in the pact indeed. The writing is very clear, let the wise hear what the Spirit is saying. We urge HH and team to consider plan B, before the Sun sets on us. We are tired of this confusion in the pact. Kalusa is right we need youths like him who can talk their mind when things are going kokai. Abash pact UPND go forward!
While we appreciate the fact that there are some problems in the PACT, however one gets sadened by the behaviour of Mr kalusa who has 100 % started campaigning for MMD. Its sad people in the PACt are there with selfish interests-each one wants to serve his interests at the expense of a poor Zambian.People in Zambia now dont think about the suffering poor Zambians who always sleep on empty stomaches. Who is going to save Zambians from these mafias both in the MMD and the PACT? How we just cry to our God in heaven to deal with this useless crop of leaders we have in Zambia both in the MMD and the opposition. Any way one day God will answer the poor people of Zambia so that they also start having three solid meals per day.
May God help Zambia.
Kalusa has very important points and I think that his party (UPND) should not rush to displine him. Nonetheless, I think that the pact was a failure from inception. The two parties should go their separate ways.
# 51 The electorate are indeed entitled to debate, but at the end of the day these politics are just abount jobs!
#57 You are right. That is why there is no shadow cabinet. When the pact celebrated their first birthday, i thought we would get a manifesto and the two leaders travelling round the country jointly but awe sure. Meanwhile we still dont know which economic, educational or health policies will be followed. For example what will happen to mobile clinics if they get in? How will they attract FDI or how will they improve on MMD’s success in the agricultural sector. I know some kapnyas absolutely love hurling insults in the manner of the Kambwilis of this world but some of us like to see substantive ideas put out and debated upon.
58….Point! Some lunatics blog because if the Pact win they think well their tribe is now ruling o maybe they be employed now given the situation. Thats not what we are looking for , to date no one of the so called PACT people has given us their reconciled manifesto! we dont have the shadow cabinet. we dont know what taxes they will introduce or reduce ….or the actual tax system . Like youve stated this year marks the largest maize harvest this country has ever witnessed…but we all know that farmers got their fertilisers in bits and also we know the price of maize is not being sold properly what will the pacts maize marketing be like…we dont know who shall be their Agriculture minister latter on Finance minister????we dont know…i ask my self should i vote!
PF THINK THEY CAN WIN ELECTIONS ALONE WITHOUT THE PACT.WRONG MATHEMATICS!!!!
Having pact is running away from the spirit of democratic dispensation of allowing each party to articulate it is manifesto so that voters can have choice to choose. The only think which can work in Africa is mergers of political parties.
NOTICE:I’M HEREBY INFORMING YOU TODAY THAT WITH EFFECT FROM TODAY,I’M FORMING A NEW POLITICAL PARTY TO BE LAUNCHED VERY SOON.THE NAME OF THE PARTY IS NATIONAL REDEMPTION PARTY TO BE PRESIDED BY ME.OTHER MEMBERS OF THE PARTY WHO JOINS LATER WILL OCCUPY THE OTHER POSTS BEFORE WE HOLD THE CONVERSION.2011 WE CONTEST COMPAIGNS BEGINS RIGHT AWAY MANIFESTO TO BE PUBLISHED IN TOMORROW’S PAPER.ALL NORMAL AND RESPONSIBLE ZEDIANS ARE WELCOME.JAH BE WITH YOU ALL!
A little maturity works better.don’t display your immaturity by cursing each other.
#59 You are very correct. There are so many issues that need to be discussed which are currently being ignored. I think the pact have had enough time to come up with a harmonised manifesto by now. If RB calls an early election then what?
LT has now become more of a Pact focussed and am loving it. Seems like people are no longer interested in talking about the Mwadya Mweka Daddy party and have inherently pushed it to the Archives. It feels like October 2011 already with MMD joining UNIP in the Archieves.
Joe needs to learn to be abit Patient. Not sure but looks as though he was hoping to be appointed in the government and quit his Job at Kafubu Water (Ndola). From he was Secretary General for COBUSU, he’s the only one among the click besides Honourable Levy Ngoma (MP), who thinks politics is a way of life. Just continue working hard and make your money.
The Pact will not put accross any manifesto yet because MMD doesn’t have any and just copies anything that comes there way. The’re pure copycats, with no brains of there own. Remain been steadfast with the same zeal you’ve now to completely change the current regime. Do not forget to register as a Voter coz your vote is the one which will make a difference. God bless mother Zambia
Not everyone is a leader. You can raise a chicken with dogs, but the chicken will never become a Dog. Those of us in PF, and indeed in the PF/UPND Pact, are working so hard to solidify this union. This pact is Zambia’s only chance to become a sovereign nation and a proud one. In his capacity, one should wonder what UPND national youth chairman Joe Kalusa’s contributed to unity of the pact. Only a fool, an imposter, an opportunist and a sponsored virus would rush to a media podium and act like he is concerned. You think the pact is HH and Sata only. The UPND and PF leadership is not about a few men, it’s about true Zambians on every level with the focus of serving Zambia and working for a better nation. Even if Sata and HH walk hand in hand, if the party members are so misplaced it…
Con….
Even if Sata and HH walk hand in hand, if the party members are so misplaced it will mount to nothing. So if you are headless that you can’t first lead yourself (like Joe Kalusa) please leave the pact and join MMD. Do something about it, don’t wait on someone to do it for you. Next year you will have such coward and back benchers claiming achievement they never contributed to when the Pact takes over. The Pact is for Zambian men and women who value themselves and are willing to spread that value ethic to every corner of the nation.
President Banda Drives Economic Prosperity for Zambia at COMESA Summit
His Excellency President Rupiah Banda returned today from the 14th Annual COMESA (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa) Summit in Swaziland.
President Banda said, “It is hugely important for Zambia to maintain good trade links with other countries in the region and the world. By improving trade we will encourage foreign investment in Zambia and develop new markets for our products and crops, bringing more jobs and prosperity to all Zambians.”
Over the last few years of President Banda’s rule, Zambia has attracted nearly US$6bn of investment, expected to create over 103,000 jobs, including those in the fields of electronics, alternative energy and telecommunications. This follows President Banda’s 2008 pledge to turn Zambia into a regional hub; last week’s opening of the Zambia-Malawi railway line was just one of the recent successes of this plan.
The theme of the COMESA Summit is ‘Harnessing Science and Technology for Development’. Zambia is currently working to improve its telecommunications services, seen in the recent privatization of the Zamtel telephone network, to improve business conditions and development across the country. This has delivered a 70% reduction in call costs, new jobs and greater investment in Zambia.
The President held numerous discussions with other heads of state during the Summit, with the aim of enhancing economic stability and prosperity in Zambia and the region. He took part in debates about trade with the European Union, and called for increasing cooperation with the East African Community and the Southern African Development Community, of which Zambia is a key member.
COMESA was formed in 1994 as a trading bloc; it currently has a membership of 19 countries with a combined population of more than 400 million people. The aim of the organisation is to achieve sustainable economic prosperity through regional integration. Other members include DRC, Egypt, Kenya, Libya, Malawi, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
Kalusa, might have fallen out with the UPND top leadership but he’s right to, “unlike the MMD which is effectively campaigning at grass root level countrywide, the pact is using radio stations and the press without the leaders explaining what they will do if elected into office.
“Our colleagues, the MMD are campaigning by holding huge rallies countrywide, they are telling people what they have done and what they intend to do for them but the PF-UPND pact is busy campaigning through some radio stations and the press without a manifesto”…
from #74…And there’s no need for the higher authority to expel him from the party. The only thing I can maybe point out in him is that even if he has facts he shouldn’t be ruled. He should probably humbly talk to his superiors and find out why there’s so much delay in starting vigorous campaigns. Its true time is not with the pact who don’t even have the machinery and enough resources like MMD who use tax payers’ money to fund all their campaigns. The pact leaders will be to blame if citizens lose the 2011 election. SOLVE THE PROBLEMS QUICKLY AND HIT THE ROAD. WE NEED TO WIN AND LIBERATE OURSELVES FROM THIEVES.
Mr Kalusa continue speaking your mind and donot be intimidated by anyone coz you are saying the truth!None of the two candidates can win an election if left alone. Moreover, the do not have the financial backing in comparison to the MMD counterparts that have money to imback on a country wide campaign without going broke. The two gentlemen of the PF and UPND have dissapointed us by failing to make the pact work.Furthermore the have failed to stop there juniors on both sides from issuing sensitive statements.
