AS THE United Party for National Development (UPND) and the Patriotic Front (PF) pact foray deepens, UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma has dared vice-president Guy Scott to start campaigning for his party president Michael Sata.
Dr Scott declared yesterday that Mr Sata is the most suitable and widely accepted leader who should assume the presidential candidature of the PF-UPND pact.
Mr Kakoma, who is also Zambezi West member of Parliament, said Dr Scott must proceed and start campaigning just as other members of the pact who have their own candidates in mind will begin to campaign.
Mr Kakoma said this in an interview in Lusaka yesterday in response to yet another statement by Dr Scott that Mr Sata should be the pact presidential candidate.
Dr Scott was also quoted as saying the results of the recent opnion poll were consistent with the 2008 presidential results in which Mr Sata polled more votes than UPND president Hakainde Hichilema.
But Mr Kakoma said it is unfortunate Dr Scott has continued to issue statements that can cause instability in the pact.
He, however, said Dr Scott is entitled to his wish and opinion, adding that he can start campaigning for Mr Sata to be adopted as the pact’s presidential candidate as other members of the alliance will also campaign for a candidate of their choice.
Mr Kakoma said all members of the pact are free to start campaigning for the candidate of their choice. “But what I know is that both leaders of the pact are supposed to come together and negotiate who will stand as a candidate of the pact.
“So Dr Scott can start campaigning if he wants but what I know is what I have just mentioned,” Mr Kakoma said. Dr Scott said Mr Sata was clearly the most popular leader between the two pact leaders. He said such results will always reflect in any future election.
And Mr Kakoma said he will consult other UPND members on whether its national youth chairperson Joe Kalusa should be disciplined for issuing statements against the pact and exchanging bitter words with PF national youth chairperson Eric Chanda.
He said he has not been briefed or read the papers on the clash between the two youth leaders of the pact hence was unable to comment effectively on the matter.
Mr Chanda challenged Mr Kalusa to resign from his position following his prediction that the MMD is poised to win the 2011 general elections.
But Mr Kalusa has maintained his prediction that the MMD will scoop the 2011 Presidential poll. He charged that he will not be intimidated by any PF machinations to silence him because he is simply stating the truth.
And the Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolutions of Disputes (SACCORD) says the problems in the pact will continue to broaden if the internal management committee of the pact does not resolve the differences.
SACCORD executive director, Lee Habasonda said if the two parties in the pact have failed to resolve their challenges, they should involve a third party to assist them.
Mr Habasonda said it is important for members of the pact to follow the laid down channels in communicating their grievances as opposed to throwing tantrums in the media.
He said as long as members in the pact continue issuing statements against each other, the problems in the pact will not cease.

Times of Zambia and their headlines
Zambia is currently facing a leadership crisis. frankly no one and i repeat no one is fit to be president. be it RB, Sata or even HH. When the pact was formed, many of us welcomed and supported it, but look what is now happening. Sata , in his old age wants to go at it again despite losing 3-0. It high time we had fresh blood. RB also…..is just something else!
Sorry Should read Zambia daily mail and their headlines
of course Sata is the man, why waste time speculating? he has the most support, so he is the right person for the job. no other news pa zed?
On “Meanwhile, [UPND] Bweengwa Member of Parliament (MP) Highvie Hamududu has said PF [appointed-]vice-[unelected-]president Guy Scott and the [appointed-by-SATA-MC PF-]secretary general Winter Kabimba should be disciplined for issuing statements against Mr Hakainde Hichilema.[..] Reacting to calls that the UPND should discipline the national youth chairperson Joe Kalusa for saying the pact has no action plan and that the MMD would win the 2011 elections, … [Hon MP H.] Hamududu said PF officials were in the forefront of undermining the pact,” in Times of Zambia of today I am glad that Hamududu and Kakoma have both defended UPND Youth Chairperson Joe Kalusa

Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.
Firstly, I like the background picture message “Working Towards forming a UPND G[RZ Administration]” in the article’s photo where PF and UPND spokespersons appear giving Zambians data on both parties.
However, it is surprising that “Dr Scott was also quoted as saying the results of the recent opnion poll were consistent with the 2008 presidential results in which Mr Sata polled more votes than UPND president Hakainde Hichilema” when that CPD opinion poll was conducted in 4 PF stronger-holds and 1 UPND stronger-hold as opposed to the whole country. In fact, it is shameful for PF’s Guy Scott to continue referring to 2008 results where 2010 Chadiza and Kaoma Ward by-elections results in non-PF and so-called non-UPND stronger-holds are available for comment.

Matt…
Following my “it is shameful for PF’s Guy Scott to continue referring to 2008 results where 2010 Chadiza and Kaoma Ward by-elections results in non-PF and so-called non-UPND stronger-holds are available for comment” and I wonder whether PF appointed vice-leader is normal going by his “Dr Scott said Mr Sata was clearly the most popular leader between the two pact leaders.. such results will always reflect in any future election” attributed statement which has a false-prophesy since the mighty UPND Group beat PF in vote number of 2011 Ward-by-elections in Eastern and Western Provinces.
I am challenging PF to find another reason for supporting their flip-flip self-appointed leader MC Sata who has never been elected a PF leader since PF’s inception in 2001.

Drip, drip, drip effect is no good. It will be hard to convince voters to support them if this carries on. Even if they patch their differences now and they form the next govt, the underlying issues will still be there and they will flare up again which will not be good for the country and its image. Remember Kibaki and Odinga were once part of the same party whose sole purpose was to oust Moi in Kenya. It is clear that members of both parties acually loathe each other – perhaps even more than they loathe MMD, why the hell wont they just go it alone and use the little time that is remaining to try and woo more voters? What will happen if RB calls for an early election?
#1 KOLWE it’s not about the TIMES OF ZAMBIA it’s just that THE POST can not carry it,such stories about disorganisation in the pact give membe nausea he can not even dare cover it.if in your right sense of mind you dont find anything amiss with the way the post twist there stories then you need mental reexamination.you are dangel unto your own intelligence
I think what we all want in Zambia is change, whether you are UPND,MMD,PF,HP,ULP,FDD etc we all want change which will take a lot of sacrificing. We have a tough one at hand but we can make it. We need leaders that will listen and lead, leaders that truly have a heart for the people. The question is how do we achieve that? we have to take a calculated risk.
#2 Speak for yourself and your Pact. If you thought that the Pact was a workable idea, well I can tell you that sensible people did not share your warped thinking.
Some people will remember here that we had predicted the pact dysfuncion a long time ago, although some fanatics too gullible to see things between the lines maintained that the pact would live on.And what is more revealing of the UPND leadership’s unreasoning is their failure to see what the PF is upto;Or are they just pretending. To me the situation is this:lose or win HH is better off contesting the elections alone using his own name if he is to be a political legend in Zambia’s plitics. But if he wants to do politics under Sata wings then he should be ready to go into oblivion foever. That is how it is Mr HH.Make your name, HH and stop depending on Sata.Look at the embarassment this relation is already causing you. And stop also believing that you can be a big politician using Tonga…
Its good that now people have started understanding why the man of integrity doesnt involve himself in pacts that bring shame but maintains his integrity..MIYANDA is the true leader guys swallow your pride and face reality…lets just contribute cash to be buying air on ZNBC for The General Miyanda
I am for Sata but I think Kakoma is wise. Look at his statement and compare it to Guy’s. You will notice that there is wisdom in Kakoma’s speech. Pact please lets not attack each other. Lets work together for one common goal and remove the people in power. Being selfish will see us losing the election next year. We all need each other. If we decide to go our way then that will be the end! As you all know there is VJ and Kafupi with state machinery on their side. I can assure you that we shall be dribbled if we abandon the pact. Think about the future of your children!
Hey bloggers, did you listen to Magande on Frank talk? The man is knowledgeable and visionary. Such is what we need in Zambia but alas just because his name is Magande some people wouldn’t even want to hear his speech.
I like SATA he can work on certain things but i will always give MIYANDA a vote SATA will be a minister of Defence under Miyanda…Govt
How I wish somebody credible, humble, level headed can come up and challenge for the presidency in next year’s elections and serve us from these seemingly ‘anointed’ people who are being propped up for wrong reasons to lead this great nation. I am tired these stories, let us have something else.
Yes, I agree with those vouching for Gen. Miyanda. He should either rejoin MMD or any viable party. The man is of sobber mind. I have seen very few people who oppose his views but he should abandon the village concept; It makes very little sense. And he has not given a plausible explanation for it. Miyanda! Miyanda! Miyanda!……….Viva!…
Scott is clearly on a crusade to scatter the pact. He does not believe in it for his own fears.
To tell you the truth, between Sata and HH, the later is more acceptable than the former. Here is how. Putting Sata as pact leader will automatically strike off North Western Vote, Western Vote, Southern Vote, central vote and the obvious one, Eastern. Now Look, MMD with Chiluba’s influence will grab some seats from PF in Luapula and Northern Provinces. That only leaves Lusaka and Copperbelt urban where PF would go smiling, though not that easily. But if HH is in the saddle, all parts will support him including Lsk and CB, especially if Sata remains steadfastly behind him. This means the pact wins elections. So be careful, Sata’s rantings and clear insults might cost the pact quest
DANIEL 2 vs 44 WILL ANSWER YOU
# 14 Ba Muntu, Efilanda umuntu ifyo mulelanda, aikona insele fye ngaba abashala! Am telling you if these politicians can only for one second everyday think about their children’s future, may be they can
change their selfish behaviour and work toward a better Zambia, but alas bonse balfwaya bu President!
Good Luck Zambia!
I had the disappointment of attending Sata’s campaign in Ndola, when he promised people that if he is elected president he will take electricity to that part of Ndola so that “mukalesala bwino inda” and when speaking he even demonstrated the how to. This completely put me off. He has not stopped, he still mocks pipo he wants to lead. He is fit to be in the opposition.
# 9 Have you forgotten thát the post was the first tabloid to expose the cracks that emerged in the PACT. Have you forgotten M’membe’s editorials on the same issue. In fact its u who needs mental examination cause you sound like a Chilisilu cha mmd
# 14 I agree with you Kakoma makes sense unlike guy Scott. I’m PF but this Muzungu man irritates me and is too much of a joker
#11 Kaks if you think PACT is not workable, then why are you having sleepless nights, wake up and face reality. Wait for 2011 for your wings shall be cut to size.
The *****s Guide to the Republican Presidency!
But now it is back at its 2006 lows…and appears ready to keep going down. HH is a big F.O.O.L.
Why? Because the Post Newspaper is leaving the pact. And Donors are beginning to realize that there is no real pact taking place.
“Worries about The PF-UPND Pact recovery deepen,” says a headline in Zambia Daily Mail.
Not here! Not at The Centre for Strategic Studies headquarters. We’re not worried about the recovery in the PF-UPND pact. Because there is none.
Too bad Fred Mmembe has stopped writing about the PF-UPND pact. We could use a good laugh this morning. Chilly winds are blowing across this part of Zambia. The children have all gone. The sun is low and cool. Its quiet here and a bit sad.
But Fred Mmembe has…
But Fred Mmembe has moved on to giving bad advice on other subjects.
So, this morning we turn to Kakoma, “retired executive.” Mr. Kakoma is speaking that we believe is part of The Hachilema Post. His photo shows a man who seems affable. At least, he’s smiling. The edges of his mouth curl up, revealing the incipient insanity of the self-assured. He knows what he knows; too bad that what he knows isn’t so.
We smiled too when we read Kakoma’s explanation for how come Guy Scot lacks political manners. He blames “conservative ideology” that took hold under the Colonial administration. Luvale’s are damn scared of the white race…
The man has no idea how a Political pact functions. This you can tell by reading his suggestions to the PF administration. Everybody without a…
Circus in the Pact.I think Hollywood would be glad to have the Pact story for a movie production.
By the way bloggers, any news on what happened after ”Dr” Cosmo Mumba’s fasting and prayers?Did God punish FTJ?
Me I like the pact stories. They are funnier than diffikoti and bilikoni mwe. I have a laugh every time I read them. It is worse than my 9 and 7 year olds when they are bickering over a toy or a snack. I have even given them nick names one is PF and the other is UPND. Me the adult and sensible one, who has to instill discipline is known as MMDaddy.
#29 I heard that he died of starvation whilst Chiluba is hale and hearty and still preaching and annointing.
This country lacks truth, honesty, hard work and sacrifice. We all know the crooks in this country but why we decide not to vote for Miyanda, i dont know. We will continue to suffer because we enjoy being lied to by perenial liars. We hate leaders who are forthright like Miyanda. God help us.
#23 KOLWE, membe is a trickster,he came up with all those editorials after those cracks in the pact had become visible,he wanted to come out as the person who exposed them.the heart of the matter is that the pact is his brainchild and now it has flopped.let him nurse his ulcer
Those propagating MIYANDA’s name, you are right but this man has realy disappointed us because of his self centredness.had he heeded levy’s call for them to work together maybe today he would have been our president.but when he was courted, instead of responding to levy he instead went to membe and told him that mmd were trying to bribe him.and membe since that time he was levy’s foe,it was headlines in his post, but eventualy af a lot of burgaining levy gave into membe and it was all positive coverage about him and miyanda was discarded.lessons to mpombo and magande.becareful with membe
This Pact is breaking come 2011! Power Greedness
The best way to select a presidential candidate is to stage a fight between myself and HH. Whoever gets clobbered immediately start campaining for the collegue. Infact we can use the fight to raise money for campaign. MMD kuya bebeele
PF & Guy Scott r the biggest jokers on the planet! What r they trying to achieve by embarassing their pact partners in public? The best HH & UPND can do now is retaliate by asking their members to vote for RB, thereby fixing Cycle Mata once and for all…Sata will never rule Zambia, period!
let them start their campaigns and they will fall hard..UPND is a factor..don’t be drunk with past glories bane!
I don’t understand why Kakoma’s challenging Guy Scott to start campaigning for MCS – after all he is campaigning already. How else does he want him to campaign? As for popularity, GuyS ia only talking about the numbers arising from the opinion poll and the last elections – I don’t think there’s any need to argue about them, those are the facts and figures and if you don’t agree with them, hard luck.
Kakoma seems more mature than Guy Scott. But if these pact pipo continue to insult themselves publicly without showing any form of maturity then we cannot entrust them to be government leaders & thus we have no choice but make do with the same use.less chaps like Kunda, Mulongoti, Shikapwasha’s & kamwendo munjila himself (R.B).
KAKOMA SOUNDS A MORE SOBER IN HIS LANGUAGE AND TONE THAN GAY SCOTT, NO WONDER I ADMIRE THE INTALECTUALS IN UPND, I HAVE NEVER HEAD UPND VICE PRESIDENT TALK R.U.BISH ABOUT SATA OR ANY SENIOR UPND MEMBER HALLUCINATING LIKE THESE RABID PF KAPONYAS, IF THE PACT FAILS TO UNITE GUY SCOT ,MEMBE AND ALL PF ZEALOTS LIKE KABIMBA WILL BE ON RECORD AS HAVING DESTROYED THE PACT THAT WOULD HAVE OFFERED HOPE FOR ZAMBIANS, FOR SURE WITH THE WAY FTJ IS WORKING WE MAY LOOSE NP,LP PROVINCES THIS WILL LEAVE US WITH CB AND LSK URBAN, SO AS PF WE CANT GO IT ALONE HH HAS THE SUPPORT OF NW.WP,CENTRAL,SP cb rural and lsk.PACT LEADERS SHOW MUTUAL RESPECT FOR EACH OTHER AS A UNITED BODY.IF THE NOSE SHUTS THOUGH SMALL THE WHOLE BODY WILL STOP FUNCTION, SO LETS RESPECT EVERYONE IN THE PACT SMALL OR BIG, VIVA PACT !!!
i haven’t seen any leadership crisis at the moment. Zambia is in very safe hands in the name of RB. We do not need Kaponyas to lead us but visionary leaders that are taking the country forward with so much infrastructure development taking place in all parts of the country. Schools, hospitals, roads, railway systems e.t.c Zambians just need to have little pertience and they will reap fruits of MMD’s hard work. Remember ‘Rome was not built in a day’ I just came back from Livingtone and was really amased at what the MMD government has done there. Good thing is the locals really appreciate it and are saying they would never vote for any of these fake oposition leaders. they can see what MMD is doing and they don’t want to fix what is working all in the name of tribal politics!
I think its high time the people of zambia are given victory and freedom they have been waiting for.long are the days we been cheated by these politiciaans, they just come with a same story and in the end fail to implement what they have promised.if atleast a nation could have people like magande, zambia would not be talking about poverty and other hindrances she facing. All we need is a miracle like what happend in 2001…
