  1. This writer’s style is both insensitive and mediocre. My condolences to the families of these two men.

  2. sad to hear such, when we thought things had improved in the mines, i mean underground. my condolences to Gift and her family for the loss of Mfula and also the Nkonde family.

  3. my heartfelt condolences to the family may the good lord be with them during this period

  4. Had it been a KCM incident, Zambians would have rioted by now.

Mining, like all industry, is hazardous!

  5. Mopani has been a big disaster since they fired the first Chief Executive Officer Mr Tom Dale. Tom Dale was more concerned about the welfare of employees and the community. Not these wealth milkers…
    Condolences to the families

  6. Its a sad development, but a harsh reality of the price paid by our ‘men in helmets’ to extract our national wealth from the bowels of the earth. May their souls rest in peace

  7. #5 Anthony Lloyd – PhD Anthropology – Oxford UK – Exactly what do you mean? Yes mining is a dangerous business but we must take precautions such as not allowing men to enter in unsupported areas. Accidents can happen and if they do happen inspite of the risk assessment you will not blame any body. But where the company puts safety secondary to production, then we shall talk- probably KCM falls in the last cartegory

  8. Glencore International AG must be sued for this. It is our brave women and men who risk their lives to make others rich. It is a crime that a private company such as Glencore International AG should be allowed to get away with such incidents.

Our politicians must stop bowing to so called Investors at the expense of the country and more importantly the miners such as the individuals above who do perhaps the most important job in the mining process. Laws must be put in place and enforced so that the local communities, country and the miners all benefit from the proceeds of mining profits not just the foreign investors who are literally walking away with the profits as things stand. MTSRIP

  9. May God give peace and strength to the families. It is very hard to lose a loved one this way. My prayers and thoughts go out to them.
