Chief Kaindu of the Kaonde people in Mumbwa district has reportedly been impeached by members of the Royal Establishment.
Kaindu Royal Establishment Chairperson, Paul Mpasu, confirmed in a Circular which indicated that 18 members of the Royal Establishment resolved to have, Leonard Kakoma, dethroned on grounds of alleged poor leadership.
The 18 members, who signed the petition that facilitated the impeachment, unanymously accused Mr Kakoma of having mishandled the mineral wealth potential of the chiefdom by allowing investors to acquire land cheaply.
He is also accused of exhibited unreasonable behavious in public mostly influenced by excessive alcohol intake in the Eight years of his reign.
Mr. Kakoma is also alleged to have annoyed the Traditional purists by selling off even the sacred ‘Makuji’ Royal graves in transctions which only fulfil his craving for alcohol.
Mr Mpasu indicated that efforts by the establishment to counsel the Mr Kaindu failed because heed any advice on the need for him to reform.
Meanwhile, Secretary of the Royal Establishment, Joshua Mutoya, revealed that 8 members of the Establishment’s Privy Council will meet next Monday to finalise on the succcession to the throne.
Mr Mutoya said a successor to the would be derived from the Eight members who include Senior Headmen Chikoloma, Mpanga, Koyi and Katanga.
Others are Hedmen Kabinda, Mukobo, Chikumbi and Mumeno.
Mr Mutoya also confirmed that the Office of the District Commissioner, district Police Command as well as the other Chiefs from the District, had already been notified of the development.
Frantic efforts to obtain a comment from Mr Kakoma proved futile at press time.
And unconfirmed reports reaching ZANIS in Mumbwa indicate that possibility that Mr Kakoma resigned from the throne.

epofye imfumu baiseshapo pakafulo what more of a person who is sick and we know now its sate days mu ICU with the wife at his bedside. the best cabinet can do is do it the israeli style after all, LPM is a human and he needs to rest just as all of us would like to get leave. i pray that he comes home soon coz this is taking a toll
This Chief is a disgrace to all Chiefs. It is only that they’ve done this a bit late.
The royal leaderships we have are in most cases a disgrace to the being led.this is so on grounds that they tend to forget the dictates of their subjects.everyone needs to be protected by the authority available at that very time.some chiefs have reached a level where they start worshiping politicians simply because thats where their selfish ambitions can be fulfilled.they need all sorts of gifts al the time.this has led to their loss of dignity as they are now boot lickers.in some places ther is no difference between he chief and the subjects.they drink and dance together with commoners.they even quarrel.am however against instigated dethroning for the sake hatredness.fight injustice at all
#1, BA ROBBY. I dont know why you and your group are in a hurry to have LPM be removed as PRESDO. I have alwayz advised you to come out in open and stop confusing other bloggers on this site. Do you want me to expose you ? LPMs case has prcoedure to be followed and nothing will happen short of this procedure, get this in your crooked head.
I will harrass you on the other line. Be ready to rebuke me, Coward.
But what does the CHIEFS and LAND ACTS say ? The biggest problem is ignorance and lack of understanding their traditional responsibilities and Land laws.
These CHIEFS and LANDS Acts, are they available in all the Chiefdoms ?
Anonymous, apraise me on this one !
How`s how it goes with house of chief in place expect more of such.
I didnt know chiefs could be impeached.
From the sound of it, he really must have been an embaraasement to his pipo. He deserved it!
4.what is the subject matter?
U never know the truth about this dethroning.i just hope its not the lundas who organised the impeachment.you all remember that these two(2) tribes used to fight over which lunguage supposed to be applied in churches when preaching.at one time it became a provincial issue.people fight almost anything they come across.now what if he has been dethroned for using kaonde when addresing the lundas during a drinking spree or may be for failure to share alcohol equally with his subjects?is it an offence that can get somebody dethroned? help me.
#8, Go to bed boy !
This ka chief is a disgrace. How do you drink kachasu like this you motherfu””. Am sure you have even sold your newly aquired vehicle. Next time you chaps give us a good chief not this *****
KISCO # 9..
i doubt whether the Lundas masterminded this coup,
the friction between the 2 was confined to the Northwestern province,
i don’t think Lundas have a presence in Mumbwa must be very little it if they do
Kaondes in Mumbwa, can someone educate me, how did they end up here?
I think it is Mufumbwe
Shidada KwaVinduku…….#13
My understanding from little social studies in primary sxool back in the days when we we touched the Central province,
was dat during the colonial days when the Kafue National Park was being set up,
some Kaonde folks from areas around Kasempa where relocated to present day Mumbwa, same goes for some Ilas,
them 2 would later cross breed and mutate into Salas or Kaonde-Ilas or sometin that…hope that helps later
My only fear is that we are likely to read something about a succession dispute that will emerge from the same.nowadays its very common to find wrangles resulting from these minor leadership conflicts.what do they enjoy?authority or these newly introduced luxury vehicles?pls you kaondes lets not hear anything related to these traditional fights.its highly embarrassing and untraditional.
15, you seem to know Namibian language, ndangi
Imwe ba shidada, ninga luwa cha. Blogingani muchakwanu, shaa. Yayi utesi muleke. Tu khumba kumanya ngnti muli na uneneso.
Well the Royal Establishment in Mumbwa have done something great. For some of us who interacted with the former Chief, he indeed was a disgrace and nuisance at all times. Imagine in a workshop he would be drinking from his bottle under the table. Almost all the times the man was in a drunken state. He could only welcome you to the palace properly if you brought him beers. Congrats for removing him though it has come a bit late BUT better late than never.

Coronation of English Sovereigns – Edward II, The Martyr’ … Pavilion Aldershot’, ‘Coronation Guest – King Lewanika of Barotseland’ Chitimukulu was busy defacating in the bush!.
Leonard Kakoma, is a replica of the British Royal Family of drunkards, incest and mental issues. He would have partnered well with the Georges, Henrys and the rest but unlike them, only death would de-throne them.
It’s good news that some leaders can be impeached in Zambia, I wish such an approach would be applied across the board.
I would like to apologise to my fellow Zambian’s the bemba’s.
I hope the Zambian cabinet learns a big lesson from this gallat royal establishment on what to do with Levy. Also, I was in Mongu last year in January where I ran into a very disgracefully drunk Litunga at the Sir Mwanawina hotel, that is also another catankerous chief who needs to be deposed.
levy should be dethroned as well
#25 Dont try to provoke debate over a non existent issue simply because you dont have the psychological muscle to discuss the topic at hand.shallow minded people alway find excuses on how to avoid being party to development.you will never ever find his royal highness the litunga being drunk neither will you ever meet him along the road like it happens where you come from.you also know that he is the only king zambia has and the only one you will never hear of having sung praises to any politician for the sake of recognition.pls go back and research well.pls lets avoid tribalising every topic.continue debating even if there is no respect for authority where you come from.
IN KAONDE WE DO NOT HAVE WORDS AND NAMES STARTING WITH ‘CHI’ LIKE CHIKUMBI THIS IS MEANT TO SUIT SOME REPORTERS OF BEMBA BACGROND.HE IS KIKUMBI.JUST AS CHISANGA IS NOT KISANGA.KIZERA IS NOT CHIZERA .PLEASE PAY ATTETION TO CORRECT WORDING AND STOP ANNOYING US WE ARE PROUD TO SY BANZOLO!!!!!! AND NOT IKOKO
Tender Doc…#27
What do you when the Litunga is the only king Zambia has,
can you please educate me…
Senior Chief Mukuni of the Toka Leya people in Kazungula District needs to be dethroned because he has plundered his subjects land. He has no regards to the laws of the land. He has recently introduced a tourism operation involving lions in his chiefdom and this project never was accessed by the Environment Council of Zambia like any other project. Foreign investor who dare talk about this are threatened with deportation as mukuni is very close to LPM. His subjects live in a war torn kind of situation and yet millions of dollars in royalties have been paid to the Mukuni Development Trust.

I feel you have a point there my bro/sis.this is the problem we have been subjected to by these chiefs especially after testing the so-called investors’ funds.they stop thinking towards the good of their people.how can youn be called a chief if at all the subjects shan you?protect your people please i beg you in the good name of JESEUS of nazareth.free money for sure is sweet but never should you forget the softer hand that ordained you.its my wish to see chiefs living happily side by side with their subjects.
Ba Chief mwasebana!!! So even in Mumbwa there are Kaondez? I didn’t know.
A chief who can be dethroned is a chief who never should have been. Pathetic! What blood do some of these guys have, unroyal blood, I guess.
Kaondes are found in the northern part of Mumbwa district. In the Western side you find Nkoyas, in the central part you find Salas and the Southern part of Mumbwa you find Ila/ Subiyas, that is how Mumbwa is dermacated.
The Lozi chief is not the only ‘king’ of Zambia. We don’t have Kings in Zambia. Officially, he is known as Senior Chief of the Lozi. It is only Lozis who call their chief a King not the entire Zambia.
Anonymous..#34
you are right, been waiting for response from our Luyi friend,
constitutionaly there are no kings in zambia,as a king is meant to be above the head of state and that would be contradiction in itself,
now each one of us recognises or refers to our traditional leaders as our kings, nothin wrong in that,
hence you titles like Mwata,Nkosi ya Nkosi,Kalonga-Gawa etal,
to insist that yours is the only king in Zambia,
is not only being a Lozi supremacist, but a vile and bigoted one indeed,
Did you know that Chief Mukuni gets a dollar for every tourist that visits or passes through his village for Rafting or other activities. He also gets 0.5% Royalties from 75% of the tourism operations in Livingstone District you sum it all and find that the Chief has over 50,000US$ to his pocket monthly but take a walk into his Chiefdom and you will be confronted by poverty and a state of hopelessness amongst his subject. The Clinic was built by the USA Aid and some organisation in the USA is sponsoring the school in so many ways but illiterate levels are unsppeakable. He has given drinking alcohol to his subject as priority number 1 so that they are always drunk whilst he plunders.
Legend of the Mosi-O-Tunya….#36
if that’s true or anything closer to that then that’s dispacable,
that money should be held in trust not directly into his pocket as you say,
such a trust should then be managed by a board of trustees of which he should just be a member,
the board must be impartial and have broad representation,
the board will be reponsible for the administration of the finances,be it investing in shares on behave the locals, giving scholarships to promising students etc,
Why are the Toka-leyas lettin him get away with murder,
i think he must have some connection to Levy,
#37 THATS RUBBISH YOU FAILURE.PROVE YOUR ALLEGATION BEFORE YOU SHARE BLANKNESS PLEASE.
# 37, you are dead right Senior Chief Mukuni has direct connections to LPM as the he goes to Plot 1 quite often of course not in the last month or so. Anyway it is quite sad in the sense that the day he will expire then that Chiefdom will be in disarray. The Mukuni Development Trust is there quite alright but he manages it himself as can be evidenced by his door to door collection of royalties at the end of every month. Anyway the Toka Leya’s have themselves to blame for this uncalled of behaviour. The Government is very much aware of this but looks like Chief’s are above the law.
That’s so surprising ha!!does that happen in Zambia?
KINE MWANE….#38
Now now now, what a loud doddering senile you are hah…
in case you didn’t notice i was only responding to LEGEND’S post,
i will not stoop so low and dignify your comments,
you wanna get personal with me?
trust me you don’t wanna go there,
i trust you are smart enough not to engage me in that,
infact i will disregard your comments as just a ‘spur’ of the moment when you lost control of your mouth,
now happy blogging OK
@ LEGEND….#39
Yap i think we are closer to the truth here,
i remember many moons ago, must have been during his 1st term,
Levy attending a Toka-Leya traditional ceremony in L/stone at which he said or atleast seemed to infer that he was connected to the Toka-Leya royalty by virtue of the Toka-Leyas having migrated from Lenje land or vice-versa,
he went on to say “infact my royal lineage can be traced as far as zimbabwe”
now anyone familier with Lenje history will confirm that the Lenjes where originally called Bene Mukuni(Lenje was only a Lingua they used),
the Toka-Leyas however after migrating(or vice-versa) still called their Chief Mukuni,
Well, well, well, it looks like every evil doer is now related to Levy. I am waiting for someone to dig out the relationship between that Kaonde chief and Levy. Insala nayo yaba noluntu.

Other than the dry sarcasm,
do you have any information to the contrary?
any information which may render the aforementioned impossible,
please feel free to introduce it and please break it down for us,
we are happy to learn from it and admitt when wrong after all to err is only human….
Or are you one of them people with a ‘special discerning spirit or conviction’ which makes your heart beep when you sense something false?
could that be your very reason for ranting against the subject?
could that also be your reason for correctly guessing my state of poverty….
i humbly wait to learn from you bro/sis
