Some UPND have taken to social media to openly criticize the appointment of Mwamba Peni, a well known PF supporter as Permanent Secretary in charge of Remunerations at Cabinet Office.
Mr Peni, believed to a grandson to late President Micheal Sata worked as Policy Analyst in the PF administration and was fired by former President Edgar Lungu after a corruption scandal.
The UPND who have dug up old social media posts in which Mr. Peni attacked Mr. Hichilema and the UPND say he does not deserve to be appointed.
The members feel Mr. Peni’s appointment is a betrayal to the millions of UPND youths who sacrificed a lot for the party while in opposition.
They now want President Hichilema to revoke the appointment failure to which they warned that levels of discontentment among youths will lead to the UPND losing power in 2026.
Masheke Akashambatwa– This man spent years attacking HH and peddling tribal discussions. And do we even know why President Lungu fired him? You know, President Sata was his grandfather..
Maxwell Mainza-The president is being misled, if he is not careful no one will campaign for him in next elections he is busy giving jobs to the people who never suffered for the party wen we have qualified people to take up these positions. This peni guy insulted him and the UPND day in and night & here we’re today he’s being rewarded. So frustrating.
Chali Mathews-HH is turning into a disappointment to us now….how can you appoint this man….he said bad things about UPND and campaigned for pf in 2016 and 2021….

AS OLD MEMBERS OF UPND WE ARE SEEING APPOINTMENTS BEING MADE IN NATIONAL INTEREST. MWAMBA PENI’S APPOINTMENT HAS RAISED A STORM AMONG THE UPND FAITHFALLS WAIT A BIT THE MAN COULD HAVE DEFECTED ON OUR SIDE AND PROVIDED INFORMATION.

The demand has been made by the many ‘upnd youths’ who put him in office.
Upnd is an intolerant part I think.
The problem with these cadres and also concerned Zambians is that the assume the President knows each and everyone of them who was debating on social media. I too don’t support his appointment but what we should be more concerned about is appointment of cadres in civil service at the expense of seasoned civil servants who worked diligently over the years for GRZ. PF contaminated the whole civil service to the point where we were a one party state and you had PF cadres and thugs walking into govt offices threatening civil servants. HH7 and his team have missed an opportunity to retain our civil service to the state it was in post 2011.
This Thorn in the A$$ – So even you after the insulting you were spewing over the years at HH …wouldnt you feel ashamed if you were appointed? I doubt you would because most of you chaps have no integrity.

Mwamba Pennis is better than Larry Mwetwa. Larry’s camp costed UPND 2 elections calling us and Mwamba Pennis monkeys.
Then Ba Miyanda left, and we came to help UPND and they won.
Mwamba Pennis was right to make sure Larry was deported from his own country.
UPND cadres are enraged because he is Bemba and nothing else. They only want their own to be in government. Therefore, for anyone coming from another province other than their strongholds they will look for anything against him that can help bring him down. This is exactly what the UPND cadres are doing.
The problem with upnd tribal supporters is that to them hh is some sort of infallible god who should never be criticized or corrected. They don’t realise that there’s difference between between being patriotic and serving your country and loyalty to a party president. Fuseke.
Who has replaced Malupenga? Are these appointments being made in dribs and drabs.? Perhaps because the president has to look for the cadres he promised jobs?
And Permanent Secretary in charge of cabinet remuneration is a created post. It was created for party cadres like Mwamba
It may astonish the neophytes but best politicians would always know when and how to practice the spirit of give and take
It does require a big heart though, like Jesus had to keep up with crooks like judas
While I understand the reaction of UPND youth members on the appointment of Mr Peni, of greater significance to our nation state is the fantastic statesmanship displayed by our 7th President Mr Hichilema. This is a brace but astute appointment. Mr Peni is one of the most qualified, very intelligent policy analysts available in our country. He is highly competent too. In this appointment, President Hichilema has followed the teachings of the Bible and “turned the other cheek”. Congratulations Mr Peni.
This man needs to be dropped.
He is not trusted around our president .
We have a lot of people in upnd who can do the job than bringing a mole near our president.
