Zambia Head For SA Training Camp

Dario Bonetti and small contingent of home-based Zambia national team players left for Johannesburg on Sunday.

Zambia have set up a five-day training camp in South Africa ahead of the teams 2012 Africa Cup Group C qualifier away to Mozambique on March 27 at Machava Stadium in Maputo.

However, the teams departure was overshadowed by the news that government will not bankroll the teams preparations for the Mozambique game.

A Football House official familiar with the situation said Faz will face the challenge of footing the logistical bill through its other cooperating partners.

Meanwhile, Bonetti left Lusaka with five players in all with the rest of the players expected to join the team during the course of the week from their respective clubs in Europe and Asia and within South Africa.

In the party of five players who traveled to Johannesburg include midfielder Felix Katongo of Libyan club Al Ittihad who was the only foreign-based player with the team in Lusaka.

Other players are defenders Dennis Banda of Green Buffaloes, Thomas Nyirenda from Konkola Blades and Zesco United’s Nyambe Mulenga.

Zesco goalkeeper Jacob Banda completes the local quartet in Bonetti’s team.

Zambia are currently third in Group C on 3 points, one less than joint leaders Mozambique and Libya.

  1. FAZ shud be paying for themselves. Soccer is an industry although I smell hatred from the sports minister. FAZ should. Hit back by charging ZNBC a mammoth figure for television rights. Nothing for Nothing on this planet

  2. why should govenrment pay,,where is the money fifa gives to faz and also where is all the moeny that coms formcaf and also form marketing and advertisements,,its time faz was transparent and should present auidted accounts in national papers annually,,after all faz belongs to the nationa and not to few individuals who i may say are volunteers…

  3. So if we lose it’ll be because money was not given. Same bull all the time. Am even wasting my time commenting on this.

  4. Chipungu hates Kalu out of jealousy while RB is laying ground for his nephew and son ( Nenani) to take over FAZ. Its sad really, even the POST has been manipulated into supporting RB’s schemes, what a pity. Hopefully FAZ councillors will reject this nonsnse and retain Great Kalu this saturday.

  5. Its some people have forgottten that RB was Gal`s God father when he went to europe. (RB was Galu`s Zambian handler).Maybe Nyamasoya has lost patience in his charge, Galu

  6. FAZ have the capacity to foot the logistics through their partners so let us not worry about the money issue. Government is trying to get at Great Kalu because he is not a bootlicker and does not bow to their demands
