Chiwaya Inspires Nkana To Victory

Douglas Chiwaya rolled back the years on Saturday to inspire Nkana to their first win of the season.

Chiwaya, the longest active player in the Faz Super Divsion, scored a brace for Nkana in their 2-1 away win in Mazabuka against Nakambala Leopards.

Webster Mulenga scored Nakambala’s consolation goal.

At the Trade Fair Grounds in Ndola, Zesco United lost at home for the first time since November, 2009.

Zesco were beaten 1-0 at the Trade Fair Grounds by Nkwazi thanks to a Jeff Lungu goal.

The defeat comes with just a week to go before Zesco host 6-tiem African club champions Al Ahly of Egypt in Ndola in the two sides Caf Champions League second round, first leg.

In Kabwe, Zanaco recorded their first win of the season after beating Kabwe Warriors 2-0 at Railway Ground.

Ronald Chinku’s side remains winless this season after suffering a second successive league defeat.

At woodlands stadium in Lusaka, Green Buffaloes also won for the first time this season despite being outplayed in an entertaining match by ‘Stylish’ Roan United whom they beat 3-2.

And Power Dynamos remained unbeaten this season after a 2-0 home win over promoted Kalewa at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe in a match that saw Lottie Phiri score a brace on his debut for the home side.

  1. “Ba Nkana, nalelo bawina Chipolopolo! Ba Nkana, nalelo bawina Chipolopolo! Ba Nkana, iyee, Ba Nkana Chipolopolo! Ba Nkana, iyee, Ba Nkana Chipolopolo!”

  2. Chiwaya played with some of the players from the Gabon air disaster. Somewhat ageless now but as long as he is playing good football and scoring goals. How old is he by the way?

  3. I hope alileka ukulomba ubwalwa last time i saw chiwaya in kitwe 2003 at a pub he asked me for a beer those days i used to drink.

  4. Good to note that ageless Chiwaya iz doing wonderz for Nkana. But should Nkana be relying on this “old timer” for survival?

  5. Warriors fire the coach please…i am tired seeing warriors struggling and not winning the league title.. Warriors require a turn round strategy…..To all magnificent kabwe warriors supporters, let us find solutions 4 our team…

  6. Ati Mwiponta , but meanwhile aponta. The beauty about beer is in sharing. Its a zambian thing which as you go out you must budget for. If you plan to drink 6, budget for 10. Of course begging should not be incouraged but thats just how it works pa Zed. Or else you will be lebelled ka kaso.

  7. Nkana we ve revived, its good to see that we are getting back to our winning ways. Go on Nkana Kalampa.

  8. I watched him last year he was good, strong on the ball and still with pace. he has a ncie body like giggs to keep playing with youngsters. he was at centre back but he was still heading in goals on set pieces. he can actually play another two seasons hbefore he finally hangs his boots. perry is still playing for nkwazi and still quite influential. our players rush into retirement and start struggling immediately asking for beers like one comment above.
