PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda this afternoon visited house number C409 in Libuyu township where he lived when he was 24 years old.

Mr. Banda who arrived at the house slightly after 14 hours attracted a huge crowd as they tried to catch the glimpse of the Head of State.

The President was accompanied by Southern Province Minister Elijah Muchima, Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Dickson Jere and other senior government officials.

In an interview, Mr. Banda said he went to see the house because that was where he lived when he was 24 years old while he was working at the Post Office.

He described the visit to the house as emotional to him because it brought back memories of the time when he lived there.

Mr Banda told the crowd that had gathered to have a glimpse of him that he was their neighbour as he lived there before.

He said he lived there for two years and that his visit to that house gives hope to life.

The house now belongs to Etha Mweetwa who is a widow.

  1. i am sure that pf cadres will spare us empty comments this time and concentrate on more serious issues. there is nothing for them here, just a visit by rb to his former residence.

  2. I hope shows that our president is zambian child..what we now reading is good for the children of to day.Why talk of who is a Zambian and not a Zambia. We need a peaceful election bane.

  3. @ pf Government, why curtail debate before people can even coment. this is a blog where people debate issues freely. so people like you are not needed here because you are a danger to free debate and to yourself. shame on you fool.

  4. President Rupiah Banda today visited Gwanda District about 150 Kilometres south of Bulawayo where he was born 72 years ago.

Mr. Banda was on arrival received by Governor of Matabeleland South Province Angelina Masuku and other provincial leaders.

In Gwanda, President Banda re-united with a Mr. Alatawo Naiki, a 79 year old businessman who paid his school fees from secondary to university level.

Mr. Banda was then take to Vumbachikwe Gold mine in the periphery of Gwanda town where President Banda’s father worked after he trekked from Zambia’s Chipata town in Eastern Province in search of employment.

President Banda was taken on a brief tour of the mine and later visited the Awake Compound nearby where he was born.

  5. No. 4 – Now you’re talking. Rubbishi Bin has not roots in the Country and we’re waiting on LAZ to give direction on this matter pronto. We need to pust this to finality please.

  6. boring story?the president shows the people of libuyu that anyone can be pesident and this has given hope to life in the people of livingstone and especially the tenant.i was happy to the president enter that house,it was emotional indeed

  7. Fond memories ba RB. The story is not political. This is just a small spicy story to remove us from the usual politiking. The fact that he even visited the area speak volumes about his fondness for his past roots. Who wouldn’t given a similar situation?

  8. Emotional but reconnecting with the roots and the commoner. Testimony that with God all is possible. It brings out a character of Gratitude and hardwork.

    Bravo RB!

  9. It is better to upgrade the house, am worried that Thandiwe might chase poor widow from that reclaimed house. Why should your president say “… am your neighbor?”

  10. WAS THIS AN OFFICIAL DUTY OF THE PRESIDENT OF WAS HE JUST FLYING ABOUT AS USUAL.
WHY DID ZAMBIAN TAXPAYERS NEED TO FUND THIS DINOSAUR TO SEE HIS CHILDHOOD HOME?
A MILLION OR TWO KWACHA FOR BWEZENI TO FANTASIZE?

THIS IS A WASTEFUL GOVERNMENT HELL BENT ON SPENDING EVERY DOLLAR OF GRZ TO FUND THEIR CAMPAIGNS.

  11. RUPIAH WENT TO HIS CHILDHOOD HOME TO SHOW THANDIWE THE PLACE WHERE HE HAD ALL HIS ORGIES WITH YOUNG ZAMBIAN WOMAN.
THESE DAYS HE STRUGGLES TO GET AN ERECTION WITHOUT CHINESE JUJU.

  12. Please Banda, spare us from these visits. We really do not want to know were you lived when you were 23, 22, 21 and so on? Isn’t this some kind of intrusion? This man has been going to Livingstone every other week, what necessitated this kind of behavior in an election year? How about visiting his birth place? His father’s birth place? Iyoo, nimwatandaleni.

  13. …and he avoided talking to the manu suffering pipo in the same area. this hud have been the openning statement. Emotional bcoz he only remembers about his life. What has he changed for those pipo living in that area?

  14. This sounds like this is the age this man trekked to Zambia from Southern Rhodesia. Where did he live when he was 23 and below or was he born at 24? We have shrines in Chinsali (Lubwa Mission) for KK. We have Kapwepwe’s place of birth and were he grew up. We have Levy’s. We have Sata’s. Only this guy’s life starts at 24 in Zambia. The other 23 is obscured. Why?

  15. The Tourist strikes again. Travelled so much in the past 3 years on tax payers money, all things must come to an end like this year for this traveller.
