President, Hakainde Hichilema congratulated his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, for being unanimously re-elected as President of China and elected as Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) during the 14th National People’s Congress.

President Hichilema said in his Facebook posting today, that President Jinping’s re-election represents the desire of the Chinese people to continue on a path of security, peace, and prosperity under his remarkable leadership.

He said President Jinping’s leadership has seen China become a dominant player in the global economy and an example of social-economic transformation for the developing world.

“The Republic of Zambia and the People’s Republic of China enjoy long and historic ties dating back to the days of our founding fathers, Dr Kenneth David Kaunda and Chairman Mao Zedong,” he said.

President Hichilema said Zambia is looking forward to a closer relationship with China as the two countries work to quickly resolve issues of mutual importance.

  1. I think you can do better, your excellence.

This seeming overreliance on the west can have catastrophic results for us.

At the moment, the chief interest of the west is the propagation of unnatural, abhorrent human sexual expressions. And to rely so heavily on them is to sacrifice of moral and traditional values to the devil. One should be careful that they don’t get caught up in the judgement that the west will soon suffer.

  2. Yeah right. When the democracy summit which Zambia is hosting is bashing on China.
When he has been to the US three times, has allowed a military office of US in Zambia too, how could he honestly say this and expect us to believe him.

  3. No need to congratulate Mr Xi bcoz he’s a de facto dictator those who “elected” him didn’t have free will.

  4. They have him on strings. There’s an angry reaction to his twit on the same subject by a Yankee NGO. It might explain why he hasn’t made the trip to China despite numerous calls by citizens. After all it isn’t rosy being a puppet
