Home affairs Permanent Secretary Ndiyoyi Mutiti says the Zambia Police (ZP)service is well equipped and ready for next Tuesday’s tripartite elections.

ZANIS reports the Permanent Secretary saying this in an interview in Kabwe yesterday.

She said a number of Police officers have deployed in various polling stations in readiness for peaceful elections.

She has advised all Zambians to be calm saying the police will not tolerate any form of violence from anyone irrespective of their party affiliation.

Ms. Mutiti has since urged members of the general public to have confidence in the police.

The permanent secretary said Zambia is a peaceful nation and the police will not tolerate any form of misconduct from any of the political party members.

She has since appealed to the people of Zambia to ensure that that they uphold peace in all terms during and after the September 20 polls.

And the permanent secretary charged that contrary to speculations by certain quarters , the Zambia police has not engaged any other security personnel on the September 20 polls.

Ms. Mutiti has further urged all the electorates to turn out in big numbers to cast their vote adding that it is only through voting that their democracy can be exercised.

Recently the opposition PF accused government of having sought assistance of the Zimbabwean Police to counter violence during the forthcoming Tuesday Polls.

However, it was later learnt that the Zimbabwean police officer noticed in Lusaka were part of the sports team who made a stopover en-route to the DR Congo for the regional SADC games.

  1. Madam Mutiti, well spoken. We would like to have confidence in our Police Service but past events make us think otherwise. What is your comment? Epo mpelele!!

  2. mwami just shoot at the pfools if they try to be chicky. its better for a few misfits to be shot than allow nonsense in the country.

  3. I strongly believe that Sata and PF need to be wiped out this year. If Satan was not standing in these elections, i dont think that anyone one would have been worried of violence. Zambian a very peaceful people but Satan is a very violent man.

  4. Police and govt unmistakably refused that there were no Zimbabwean police in the country.
It was with unrelenting pressure from the public that finally they came up with that stupi.d passing “through statement”
ZP has failed to act on all violence initiated, encouraged and perpetrated by govt and the leadership of MMD country wide despite the availability of equipment even in their (police) presence
please do not fool the Zambian people
