National soccer team head coach Herve Renard

Herve Renard has said he will honor his one year deal with Zambia.

The Frenchman said at a post-training press briefing on Monday morning that he will only step down should the Zambian public be dissatisfied with the team’s performance.

“I won´t run away,” Renard said. “I promise I will stay I won’t refuse but I will leave Zambia if Zambia doesn’t want me now.”

Renard was reappointed as Zambia coach after Dario Bonetti was fired last month despite qualifying the team to the 2012 Africa Cup tournament.

The Frenchman today held his first training session since his reappointment when he took a group of home-based players through the paces at Olympic Youth Development Centre in Lusaka.

The team is holding a three-day training camp in Lusaka ahead of next Tuesdays Friendly way to Nigeria in Kaduna.

  1. This guy is a big loser. He is saying this because he knows after the AFCON is over he will run away to another team for more cash and dump Zambia like he did in the past. I don’t trust this guy and he’s there just to get paid and upgrade his resume.

  2. Yellowman cudnt agree with you more. the only way can  forgive this guy is if he wins the Nations cup!

  3. Herve Renard is selling his knowledge and FAZ would like to purchase that knowledge. In the event that another bidder rocks up for HR’s knowledge, it would be unethical for him to leave before seeing through his contract. However, once the one year is complete, he is a free agent and free to go or stay. It is an open market. Be fair to the man, this is a free market. Willing seller willing buyer.

  4. I hear this guy is very popular with Zambian women. At marriages are in Danger when he is around. He should watch his-self as there are diseases these days. I personally think he is a lousy coach and Zambia is getting a row deal here. We need to Hire Baker from South Africa, now that is a coach. Sata is the one who brought us this guy. We should hold him accountable when Zambia begins to lose, and they will lose.

  5. why cant we get a proper zambian coach sure. we got lots of good coaches who can bring cups to zambia. why waste tax payers on money on this man? we are already wasting too much on foreign doctors and the little people of china ka.

  6. i think a coach like Fordson Kabole of power dynamos can manage to take zambia to them higher levels…. not aba ba kolwe sata is bringing back.

  7. I really hate football

Dont get me wrong I love to see the whites in Zambia because it shows we are bringing somone receiver elite to look at our own affairs, nothing wrong with that.

But to be talking about Zambia who have never won anything of note , nothing no world cup nothing, shows how useless anyone is who has high hopes of such a team!
    Why support failures?
Disband the football team and use it for something else, build a morally better University like Thames Valley university I had gone to

    Pathetic

    Thanks

    • mushota why do you insist on coming on this site and commenting on the articles. as you have stated countless times you have left zambia to enjoy a better life with white has husband(not that his race mattters) if you have found a new home and new life style why not just go on living it and leave the real zambians in peace?
the truth of the matter is the very thing that you pretend to despise so much is what embodies your very character.you can not keep away from such forums because you need and feel you have to come and brag about you “better” life to other zambians to feel like you have achieved something. and that my friend is the behaviour of a typical zambian! ubututu!
you can never find understanding or acceptance from your adopted home, because you will always be an outsider!

    • mushota am really curious, what do you say when the scotish people are ask you where you are from? these failures you talk about are all ours to bare!!! you talk about morally better universities in the uk whatever that means, they are not yours! the infastructure, facilties and services you are enjoying were not built by your forefathers! tefyaba mbuya bobe! you are zambian! these failures are yours too my friend! people who laugh at the current situation in zambia without offering solutions just because they are in an other country can be compared to a child who goes to eat at the neighbours house and starts lauging at his brothers and sisters for going to bed hungry! ulepula fye! so ba mushota you the biggest failure of us all!

  8. he had better, or else we will wait for the enactment of the british gay laws then tukamutomba ukumnyelo. mushota basop! ama arvs are free here in UK take them. we hate seeing bony women.

  9. What’s 12 months anyway..already one month down, FAZ needs proper scouts and Head hunters!! This guy can just chill for 12 months as we have given him a free opportunity to put in his CV on the jobs market again!!!:-(

  10. This man did a run on us in Angola. He did not last there because the Angolas don’t take nonsense. Surely there were better candidates for the job that came forward than this twerp whose attitude is “just to perch in Zambia, while another opportunity comes along”. With that attitude how he put his soul into coaching Zambia??? Re – hiring this chap was like taking in our own vomit!!! Where is our pride that even clowns like this should mess with us? we should never have hired him this time!!

  11. With the recent spate of bombings in Nigeria by Boko Haram who are looking for soft targets to highlight their profile, how safe are our boys in Kaduna? Remember the fate of the Togolese team on their way to Cabinda from Pointe Noire prior to the ACN matches?? Make sure it does not happen to our boys!!!

  12. The man is wise,he came back to his senses that the way he left was not a good way of leaving the people who respects and love you, as the result he felt working on his mistake was the best thing he could do in his life,am sure his conscience will now be free after leaving Zambia with our blessings and respect.Afuma kubantu ba mano, because that action he made am sure it started bringing down no one can trust a person with that kind of character, its good that he has started from where he lost direction from.I ve respected the man because he has come to put his C.V in order and show others that faithfulness is good,

  13. #14 thats a good point….these boko haram chaps are a serious threat…Nigeria is unsafe…was in Lagos last month and narrowly escaped an attack…FAZ our boys are not safe there…better off playing in nieghbouring Ghana…these boko haram fools are looking at making a statement and God forbid our boys become one….

  14. #4 bricklayer. Very foolish indeed. You want Baker from South Africa to coach Zambia when he just failed to qualify the South Africa team ? One wonders the level of thnking wiht some bloggers !!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Re-appointing HR should have been on the basis that he winz us the AFCON or probably get to the finalz and not this 1 year contract nonsense. Suppoze we get embarrassingly eliminated in the first round after January 21, 2012, then we fire to the coach?
In fact a long term contract for a coach should have been done after the AFCON 2012. By the way, HR doezn’t owe nobody an explanation az to why he left, it iz in fact FAZ that owe Zambianz for hiz re-hiring.

  16. Number 17, it is Pitso Mosimane who has just failed to qualify South Africa for the AFCON. Clive Barker won the AFCON in 1996 and qualified South Afica to the 1998 World Cup in France. He remains to this day the most successful coach in SA, having further won several domestic honours

  17. Hahaha lt very entertaining Lik ba mbuzi#17,I think u shud apologize to number 4,hehe it won’t hurt!!but pa zed I don’t know y we love mediocrity!mediocre gvt mediocre coach fyonsefye ni mediocre !!wen are we going to change kanshi??we have very capable local coaches than this physical trainer!!nway don’t kudabwa!!
