Two traditional rulers in Chinsali district in Muchinga Province have released thousands of hectares of land to government for the construction of the new administration offices.
President MICHAEL SATA last year created the tenth province in the country, and selected Chinsali as the headquarters for Muchinga Province.
The two traditional leaders are Chief Chewe and Senior Chief NKULA who have released 16 thousand 7 hundred hectares of land to the government for development.
Muchinga Provincial Minister MALOZO SICHONE told ZANIS in Chinsali today that 9 thousand hectares of land has been released by Chief Chewe while Senior Chief Nkula has released 7 thousand 600 hectares of land.
The minister yesterday visited the proposed site for the provincial administration at Mweye, with Provincial Permanent Secretary Charles Sipanje.
He said he was grateful to the traditional for the gesture.
The visit to the proposed site marks the begining of the mammoth task to construct the provincial headquarters in the Muchinga province.

This illigal. There is no provision in our constitution for a president to do this. Where is Parliament. Can’t you see that this is another Tribalistic gymic of a Bemba *****ic president. These Kolwestans are going to cause a war in Zambia.
THIS IS RUBBISH. IS DEVELOPMENT ILLEGAL?
Bricklayer, how is this going to cause war???
ALL THIS LAND HAS BEEN DORMANT!! IS IT ALL MEANT FOR GOVERNMENT OFFICES OR THEY WANT TOÂ DEMARCATE IT FOR FARMS? THESE OFFICES WILL BE MASSIVE I CAN ASSURE YOU
When are you going to divide NWP into two as well……iwee devil?

I for one will support the government of the day till kingdom come unlike u chaps with small brains, cant u see that this is development for the named area? If u cant take the heat get the F****k out of the kitchen u low lifers…Viva PF

I keep on seeing the word “Kolwestan” on this site, what does it mean?
bricklayer makaka
#1 if u dont have any sensible thing to say let those who have something sensible contribute.u are not even ashamed to comment first.what is illegal anyway?u mean chiefs should not have given land to government to build offices
WHILST UPND KEEPS MISLEADING PEOPLE,MUCHINGA CHIEFS ARE LEADING THE WAY TO DEVELOPMENT,THE LAND IS NOT JUST FOR OFFICES,THERE S NEED FOR HOUSES,HEALTH EDUCATION SOCIAL FACILITIES.IT IS NOT GOOD TO BE STUBBORN FOR NOTHING,IF OUR BROTHERS IN SOUTHERN PROVINCE ALLOW TO BE MISLED,THEY WILL BE LEFT BEHIND.LETS SEE SOME PROGRESS IN CHOMA ALSO.A BIG CHUNK OF NORTHERN PROVINCE HAS BEEN TAKEN AWAY BUT WE NOT COMPLAINING,WHY COMPLAIN ABOUT JUST TWO DISTRICTS BEING UNDER LUSAKA AND KABWE,AFTER ALL MOST OF THESE MPS IN THE FOREFRONT LIVE IN LUSAKA AND NOT CHIRUNDU AND ITEZHI TEZHI,THEY ARE JUST A BUNCH OF SELFISH,POT BELLIED TWITS WHO FOREVER WANT TO SEE OTHERS NOT DEVELOP
The land will not accommodate govt office alone, but other infrastructure as the wheels of development will demand. Customary land is not on title, as such the two chiefs must be commended for releasing this land to govt. Govt will in turn give it to developers on legal lease terms. There is no controversy here because people have not been cheated like in other regions. Chama which was once a part of Eastern province in now in Muchinga, there are no threats of war here. People of Chama speak mostly Tumbuka. Only Bantustan politicians will agitate war based on these changes
I think #1 has got a point. We need guidelines on how to do things not the way they are currently being done. No offense but I think the President in our country has got too much power and can do or undo whatever he likes. What will stop the next President from undoing what the current one is doing. With so many educated zambians, we need issues raised and debated and then put to a vote. Then only will we stop people or even leaders from doing thing as they please. I would like to think that Zambians know what is good or bad for them. What are institutions like parliament there for? Even Obama or Cameron don’t have such powers. They have to follow the guidelines. What do you think beloved Zambian?? No insults please.
