The joint investigative wings have formally arrested and charged three former defence chiefs.
These are former Zambia Army Commander Lieutenant General Wisdom Lopa, former ZAF Commander Lt. General Andrew Sakala, and former Zambia National Service (ZNS) commandant Major General Anthony Yeta.
The three have been arrested and charged with theft by public servant.
This is connection with the disappearance of the K1.5 billion meant for the operations of the three wings of the defence, namely Zambia Army, Zambia Air Force and Zambia National Service.
The three whilst acting together allegedly stole 1.5 billion kwacha funds meant for the defense wings for operations during and after the elections last year.
The three former defence chiefs have since been granted 50 million kwacha police bond each with two working sureties and are expected to appear in court soon.
Joint investigative spokesperson Charity Chanda confirmed the development to journalists a short while ago at Woodlands Police Station were they appeared
QFM
1.5 billion, wow, what do they buy with that kinda money???
G-strings for their girl friends in kamushi there!!
more tension in the country.lets wait and see.
I can only see Gen Chisheta, Kabonde, Gen Mapala and Gen Chisuzi in the photo above and not the accused former defense chiefs. LT, pls insert the correct photo.
You’re right ! Those are the real THIEVES !!!
This is how rotten to the very core of our governance system had been under MMD.
What a shame
Its a serious risk to work as a senior civil servant in Zambia,i thought the three defence forces mentioned are autonomous from each other.
Why are we treating Generals like this? I think high time the Mali situation took place here. Ma Civilians mwaya saana. We need to discipline these baggars.Â
Kabiye uko. These chaps steal money meant to pay soldiers’ claims and allowances. Believe me, NO SOLDIER can support such nonsense !
Will the President give them immunity from prosecution for breaking the official secret act, or are they going to remain silent and die for the security of Zambia?
A thief is a thief regardless of the amount involved and the status of the person. Civil servant shave building mansions without loans. You wonder where they get then money.
#5 Chi John, this is a foolish way of thinking. Do you have a family? you must be homeless and without relatives
And why have they left out the real thieves, the misleaders of the Zambia Police, former IG Kabonde and former commissioner Musamba????
THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE IT A K100 MILLION POLICE BOND. THESE PEOPLE HAVE A LOT OF MONEY WHICH THEY STOLE, THAT IS JUST ONE WAY OF RECOVERING IT.
These men did not learn from the experiences of three other military commanders; Musengule, Singogo, and Funjika. Or did they also think MMD was going to win and those corrupt MMD leaders would look the other way? Zambia’ is really rotten to the core.
@#5 John, you must be a big fool to think in those lines!
#9 and #13, Stupid chaps. Let you Civilians continue with this indiscipline, we shall teach you a big lesson. There is too much passiveness  among the Zambian Civilians. You will learn a good lesson if the military takes over. We need to transform these *****s into human beings. First we will  destroy you and build you up properly. You are still in limbo. Stupid chaps.Â
How is this possible? Look at the reshuffles RB made:Â
Addressing a news conference at state house the President announced that he has retired Zambia Army commander General Isaac Chisuzi and replaced him with Brigadier General Wisdom Lopa who was until now Zambia’s military attache to Ethiopia.
Mr. Banda also retired Major General Samuel Mapala as Zambia Air force commander and has recalled from retirement, Brigadier General Andrew Sakala as his replacement.
Others included Zambia National service commandant Raphael Chisheta has also been retired and replaced by Brigadier general Anthony Yeta who has been moved from the Zambia army.

what has become of our country? this is now too much.
#4 ubushili!!!! Your name?
Where is Zambia going? Kaunda please come back?
I hope the balange balange culture in Zambia comes to an end. Look ati weddings kwati ya ma pop stars.you cannot spend hard earned money like they do on such things .The expensive 4x4s the list is endless. Instead of maintaing good roads for even small cars to move well we go for fima big motokas incuding those for ministers which is not the case in rich countries.
TOO MUCH STEALING IN ZAMBIA. MONEY FOR PROJECTS, ROADS, etc IS ALWAYS STOLEN through conniving. THINGS ARE EXPESNIVE DUE TO ARTIFICIAL COST OF FUEL. DRIVERS STEAL HALF OF THE FUEL IN TRANSPORTATION VEHICLES AND CONNIVE WITH PETROL ATTENDANTS FOR FAKE RECEIPTS. WHAT A COUNTRY!!!
UKWA careful on whose toes you step. This is delicate lol.
Which toes iwe ? These are thugs !
#6. SO, TO YOU LAWS AND JAILS WERE CREATED FOR POOR ZAMBIANS, DIDN’T THEY? THIS IS NOT RB’s GOVT. THIS IS SATA AND PF’s GOVT. AND MIND YOU THE LAW AGAINST ABUSE OF AUTHORITY HAS BEEN OR IS ALMOST RE-INSTATED. WE DON’T CARE IF PALI WISO.
Thats not alot of money, just let them free please and enjoy their benefits
Former secretary of MMD greatest thief arrest him. He spoiled the party, created UKWA kingdom and turning to arrest his former friends. Who is not a thief after all. They were just carrying the orders from their commander. A soldier does not still he follows instruction. It is good to be one just follow the leader. Everything that is going on now is due to UKWA agree or object… Follow the leaders..
I meant steal above not still. still learning english and begun enjoying my whisky.
