Western Provincial Taskforce on corruption over the week arrested seven suspects among them head teachers, suppliers and council employees in connection with the gross misapplication of Constituency Development Funds (CDF) in Kaoma district.
Kaoma District Commissioner, Joster Manjolo confirmed the development in an interview with Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) today that millions of kwacha has been misapplied in Kaoma district.
Mr Manjolo who expressed shock that unscrupulous officers, suppliers and individuals amassed public fund met to alleviate people’s sufferings.
He said corrupt people took advantage of the previous government’s slackness in following up where the public resources were being invested.
Mr Manjolo said the provincial taskforce on corruption should not leave a stone unturned as the Patriotic Front Government will not tolerate corrupt individuals to pocket resources met for the people in the district.
He said if all the CDF funds were utilized properly in all the three constituencies of Kaoma, people would have appreciated the developments from their current and past governments.
Mr Manjolo said frequent visits by the taskforce mandated to probe the implementation of government resources should not relent as these visits would instil fear on those who would want to plunder the developmental monies intended for government projects in the district.
The DC said all the arrested suspects who are currently on police bond will appear in court soon.
He further appealed to the provincial task force to speed up the exercise so that more CDF scams could be unearthed in the district for the betterment of all the people in Kaoma.
