CHINESE Vice-Premier Hui Liangyu has assured Zambia of continued support in all sectors of economic development.
Mr Hui said in Beijing yesterday that the relationship between Zambia and China dating back to the pre-independence era had stood the test of time.
He was speaking when he met Zambia’s Foreign Affairs and Tourism Minister Given Lubinda.
Earlier, Mr Lubinda held a closed-door meeting with his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi at Diayutai.
Mr Yang said his country is happy that relations between the two countries had been improving. He said China appreciated Zambia’s active involvement in promoting sound relations between the two countries.
Last evening, Mr Lubinda was expected to attend a dinner hosted by Sino-hydro Company of China.
The minister will today hold a meeting with Zambian Embassy staff before flying to the Chinese commercial city of Shanghai. In Shanghai, the Mr Lubinda is expected to visit the branch of the Huawei Company before visiting Shanghai Expo Exhibition and the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition.
Mr Lubinda has hailed the warm bilateral relations between Zambia and China.
The minister yesterday delivered a special message from President Michael Sata to the Chinese government and described Beijing as an all-weather development partner.
Finance Deputy Minister Miles Sampa, Transport Deputy Minister Lieutenant Colonel Panji Kaunda and other senior Government officials are in Mr Lubinda’s entourage. They arrived in Beijing Tuesday 15:30 hours Zambian time.
am happy with the current govt.it’s good to see how hard they are working to develop Zambia.it all started with the President inviting Indian investors to come to Zambia, followed by the vice President Dr. Guy Scott in England. Now it’s Given Lubinda.Keep on working hard.Zambia is destined for development!!
Why bring panji along to beijing , u think the chinese will not give u handouts unless you use kaunda’s son. Chinese are not like that, if they trust you they will deal with you alone not a family member, panji needs to build his own confidence from the chinese people not through his father.
You are daft. Who do you think must go there? Yourself?
Just China consolidating it’s position as a world leader. We should diversify while the going is good
Good morning
America and Britain can hardly sleep when China is busy scratching it’s head on how to get Africa’s resources to feed it’s hungry economy.
Fact is, whilst 70% of China’s Foreign Direct Investment goes to Africa, only about 3% of the world’s FDI goes to Africa! It will be interesting to see how all these Chinese funds pouring into the African economies are used. Hopefully to develop the existing infrastructure.
Are they on holiday or want? There mission to China is not clearly stated, and why all that big group? hope its in the interest of the entire nation and not just their pockets and families.
I guess you wanted to use ‘what’ instead of ‘want’ in your statement??? Any way, the guys visit to china is of mutual benefit(s) to both our government and your government.Â
When was Panji transferred from De fence to Transport Ministry?
Since when did Colonel Kaunda become Transport Deputy Minister?
Can someone advise why Zambia does not have an E2 treaty with USA, i think it would be beneficial since Zambia seems to be very open to Investors , the E2 category is reciprocal and is a two way treaty meaning Zambians living in Zambia and anywhere else can also  invest in the USA and obtain E2 visa’s. There are a number of African countries who have this treaty with USA such as Ethiopia, Egypt, Cameron, Congo,Liberia, Morocco,Senegal, Tunisia etc
“the look east” policy at work. I wish these guys can start works on the airports. I hate to see them just building “consumption” oriented infrastructure. We need investment oriented infrastructure. What will happen to us when we run out of the resources we are pumping into their industrial power houses? I think as Africa, we need to know what we want from China. The “look east” policy should be a win-win game. Panji???? God!
Don’t relate to much with chines they will teach you bad manners of ; human rights oppression ,counterfeiting and stealing of patents
The stealing of patents when used wisely is not a bad thing. Look at Chinese tech now can you say super power lol.
#1 Mary its nice to see people being positive even though its delusional.Whats so inspiring about seeing grown men going to beg for money. You think China or India’s greatest aspiration in life is to make Zambia a rich nation? Only Zambians will make Zambia rich.
@Musonda you are so daft to understand the tricks of economic development.- You have to climb on the back of others for you to succeed even the ones you don’t like as long as they are useful to your success. so shut your beak and don’t comment on things you don’t understand at all.
Col Panji Kaunda is Deputy minister of Defence and Transportation- something like that.Remember when Sata merged new ministries.Like ministry of Health and fisheries ……joke
When are they going to apologise to RB for criticising him for doing the same things that they are doing now? Even their supporters somehow have changed and no longer see China and Chinese as ‘infestors’. Seems like a certain proportion of the Zed population actually enjoys being lied to and taken for fools – just look at the first post – people out there really believe that Ukwa was in India to get ‘investment’ for the country!!!
Probably they have no principals. Does Dochi Kubeba tell you anything about what they believe in?
The West worked hard yesturday. They seem burnt out. They can’t see what China is doing. They fight wars in Libya, Aufganstan, Irag and what have you, while China is strategically coming behind them. When they finish fighting then China quickly goes in with investment. By the time they realize China’s stake is up. Strategies and tactics of competition. There we go. Â
# 1 Mary. Are you sure or its fools day for PF govt. Be ware the little respect PF govt has with foreign govts is from MMD relationships with these world govts. UK like most European govts are in double deep recession. Hard facts for you – UK would rather resustate economic ties with Zimbabwe or Malawi than Zambia. So, dream on Mary but read the times correctly as UK, India etc are developed countries than Zambia and will only invest where they know environment is conduisive. Mere visit by some Lubinda will not do, remember one Chinese doctor was almost deported by PF govt and think Chinese have easly forgotten that? Joke on.
@Complexity you are obviously silly or unreasonable to understand the tricks of economic development.- You have to climb on the back of others for you to succeed even the ones you don’t like as long as they are useful to your success. your hate for PF govt will lead you to nothing. who told you that the investment environment in Zambia is not conducive? for your own information India is not a developed country.
# Mary, India is more developed than Zambia. Investor cofidence has waned in Zambia since PF govt took over. PF govt will not register any economic growth in the short run and that PF govt conceded they haven’t got any economic startegy in place. We do not hate PF govt but Sata is old both in politics and age to do better than the shoddy circus he is performing. We expect this govt to abide to the norms of demopcracy of good governance, rule of law, accountability and transparency. All these tenets go begging and in fact we have gone 10 yrs back. Issues of investment are complex and require lots of pre requisites so far missing in PF. Investors are on a wait and see ball. Progressive Zambians wont respect that, may be Mary who is connected to Sata.
@Complexity-as i said don’t comment on issues you don’t understand. Exactly as you put it India is more developed than Zambia. That’s the reason why the PF govt wants to do business with them. Investors are on a wait and see ball, yes you are right.this happens everywhere after elections.it happened when Obama won the elections, it happened when David Cameron won.so why can’t it happen in Zambia. Moreover that was a very big change in that the MMD ruled for 20 yrs. That’s why you see the President, the vice President and ministers going abroad to tell the investors that what you think is really not what is happening in Zambia. Zambia is a conducive invironment for investment.come and invest. In short they are marketing Zambia.so whats your problem?am not PFand i did not vote for them.
panji lookes like father [k.k ] so nice
The power of the media. Our leaders come and go unnoticed.Without LT we wouldn’t even know these people were in China
What is the purpose of the trip?
these guys are on tour according to what I heard on cctv news in Chinese
@MARY
What have you been snorting?! Â Which conducive environment are you talking about? Â Zambia is a sinking bwato, rudderless and without a captain with foresight and vision. Â Anybody coming to invest now must seek super-returns because they will realise that we have a mad govt. Â It is like the DRC. Â You invest in DRC (and now Zambia) in order to rape the country and flee very quickly. Â Zambia is no longer a long term investment destination. Â The country will only attract hot money.
#12 You made me laugh with your joke.. ati ” Panji is Deputy minister of Defense and Transportation.. something like that…remember when Sata merged ministries like Ministry of Health and Fisheries..”
Lubnda in China.LT reports CCTV news ignores.ALways the case.Media coverage
