Vice President to grace 2025 Lusaka Province Independence Carnival

Vice President, Mutale Nalumango, is expected to grace the 2025 Lusaka Province Independence Carnival, which will take place on 25th October at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

Lusaka Province Principal Public Relations Officer, Logic Lukwanda, confirmed that preparations for the event have intensified.

Mr Lukwanda said this year’s Independence Day celebration’s theme “61 Years of Peace and Unity – Building a Resilient and Prosperous Zambia,” reaffirms the country’s long-standing motto of “One Zambia, One Nation”, which has been the bedrock of national unity since independence in 1964.

He told ZANIS in an interview that Lusaka Province Administration interprets the theme as a reaffirmation of the peace and unity that Zambia has enjoyed over the past 61 years.

Mr Lukwanda said the theme also serves as a reminder to uphold the values that have sustained the country through the decades while promoting tourism and preserving cultural heritage.

“The theme means remaining strong and resilient to withstand all elements of division such as tribalism, hate, or nepotism at all levels and in all sectors. Zambia belongs to all of us, and we own the country equally, regardless of which tribe or region we come from,” he said.

Mr Lukwanda revealed that there are several high-profile music artists that have been invited to perform at the carnival including Yo Maps, Chester, Chanda Na Kay, Chile One, and celebrated bands such as Amayenge, Airpower, Green Labels, and the Peace Preachers.

He said, in line with the spirit of national unity, the province has also invited traditional cultural dance troupes from all 10 provinces to perform during the event.

Mr Lukwanda stated that the Carnival will feature a street parade beginning from Kalingalinga, passing through Hellen Kaunda, Mtendere, Kaunda Square, and Kamanga, before reaching Nkoloma Stadium in Chelstone where the main event will take place.
