UPND presidential advisor Douglas Siakalima has observed that it was unprofessional for Lusaka province Police Commissioner to risk the security situation in Lusaka by announcing that there was inadequate manpower to police the UPND rally as officers had been deployed to Ndola for the Zambia versus Uganda game.

Mr. Siakalima has told QFM News that the statement by Dr Jere had the potential to contribute to criminal activities in the city as criminals could have taken advantage of the tip they got from the Police through the announcement.

He adds that it is such kind of statements that give reason to believe that the move by the Police to stop the UPND rally was politically motivated.

Mr. Siakalima has noted that Dr. Jere should not allow himself to be used by politicians at the expense of providing a service to the Zambian people.

He says the PF government is jittery because of the increasing mealie-meal prices and the hike in bus fares hikes that the country has experienced against the continued low income levels that most people continue to be subjected to, thereby trying by all means to stop the opposition from talking about such issues with Zambians.

  1. Hakainde the man at the moment!! let us give this young man a chance so that we can see prosperlity to this country. VOTE UPND!! VOTE HH for real change!!!!!!

  2. Don’t break the pact with MMD respect each other and support them ahead of Mufumbwe bye elections as they supported u in Livingstone. Young man my father Sata won’t stand in 2016

  3. Ba Siakalima please mulatusebanya mani. Your statements are ill informed and biased. I like UPND but such actions, such pomposity, such difiance really paints a sad picture and it is not want I like in any government. If UPND is working to form the next government then your strategies must really change. everyday you want to confront someone or something. If you want to hold a rally to tell us about how PF has failed, please spare us. We can see for ourselves and we need a third indepentent party to tell us. Definitely not any oposition party can paint a true picture of what is happening in Zambia. you are all biased to suit your needs. this is why you are in another party. Do you have data that crime increased over the weekend? If not then what you are stating is utter garbage.

  4. Continued…..The police is divided into sections or department. there is CID, SWAT, Anti-Riot Squad, etc. If there was no man-power it does not mean the city remains unprotected. It means the officers who are specifically trained for Mob duties were busy with other duties. So your argument is ill-prepared. By the way, why do you want to hold a rally. What has necesitated the need for a rally, 4 years before the campaign season? Is HH so much in a hurry to get to Plot 1. Right now we need to see your leadership capability and not your fighting spirit. We all know you can fight. You faught in September 2011 and lost. We know you can be confrotational and you want your word and only your word to be heard. The question is do the people want to hear your words, if yes, so so bad.

  5. Continued…Ntolya, ntolya ijanya kalikule…Chuulu chibomba kulindila…Patience is a virtue…Good things comes to those who wait…wait your turn. In the mean time, prepare. Prepare your supporters..I mean real supporters not fictitious figures and nly from one province. You want a rally, go to Northern, Luapula, Muchinga, etc.. Start by holding meetings in all provices, small meetings with UPND stakeholders. Consolidate your party structure. Let your voice be heard in parliament. How can UPND MPs vote and pass the SI and the leader condemns it. It does not make sense. Sata’s salary was an act of parliament, Rebasing of the kwacha was and act of parliament, Minimum wage was an act of parliament. UPND members voted for it..why is the HH saying “NO”?

  6. Continued…You should not be an oposition party, but rather a party with an alternative administration methodology. Therefore, we would like to see you lead us now so that we put you in power next time. We do not want you to lead us in confrotation and useless fights. You do not draw sympathy for going against the laid down proceedures and peace. So far the breach of peace in the country can be traced to UPND and MMD. It seems you have a complex. Whatever the government does you think they are doing it to hurt or harm you? Who said Zambia and everything is all about you? When one says he would like to fight corruption instead of backing them up and show ethics and intergrity you accuse them of fighting the oposition. Show us that you can lead the nation. Show us now.

  7. Sad to learn Siakalima can be this dull to have an extra inner eye. for once if i were a police IG, i would have uttered those same statements knowing behind the chess table, how to set trap the criminals who could have fallen prey to ‘such kind of trap’ mr Siakalima, grow up, open up and have an extra inner eye. God gave you the brains to think. That statement had a motive behind. its like the president announces and allows the entire zaf, army soldiers make a trip training to isoka.Wow to that enemy who can fall prey to such a statement.

  8. well articulated. Can Jere arrest those machete criminals otherwise we will conclude that they had a blessing of the big guys? Imagine if those were UPND sympathisers!
