The funeral service for the later former first lady Mama Betty Kaunda has been postponed to a date to be announced later.
This was after the husband Dr. Kenneth Kaunda fell ill and has since been admitted to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH).
Colonel Panji Kaunda the son to the former head of state has confirmed the development to QFM news in a telephone interview.
Colonel Kaunda said his father Dr. Kaunda started feeling unwell because of the suspected stress saying he has not hard enough rest from the time that Mama Betty died.
Colonel Kaunda who is also Deputy Minister of Communication, Transport Works and Supply said the nation should remain calm as Dr. Kaunda has just been admitted to UTH for observation by medical personnel.
He said revised funeral arrangements will be announced later.
Meanwhile a check at the cathedral of the holy Cross found that mourners had dispersed.
Earlier UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema survived an attack from the suspected PF cadres the funeral service for Mama Betty which has since been postponed.
UPND deputy spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa has confirmed the development to QFM news and described the act as shameful.
Mr. Mweetwa has noted that what is more surprising is that the misconduct of the suspected PF cadres has comes barely 24 hours after President Michael Sata preached peace in parliament.
Mr. Mweetwa said the some people who included William Banda and Edward Mumbi were beaten in full view of the police who watched helplessly.
A police officer is also reported to have been beaten badly by the suspected PF cadres.

Typical of African politics barely 24 hours when the president was preaching peace PF cadres attack HH of all places at Church. When will these illiterates know that time for mourning is not to attack others? Same that even the police who were there could not do anything.
It is unfortunate to note that Zambia still applies primitive political gimmics. in this day and age “Cha Cha” style of politics does not give the nation respect and let alone the head of State. Please Mama Betty Kaunda was not a PF cadre for those cadres to start attacking people at her funeral. If police are police enough they should arrest all those cadres who attacked HH at the funeral or police will have no respect from the public.

THE FUNERAL SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE LIGHTER BY DECLARING IT A CELEBRATION BECAUSE MAMA BETTY TRIED TO LIVE LONG FOR THE FAMILY AND ALL OF US. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN EASIER FOR OUR OLD MAN, KK.
It is indeed sad that KK has fallen ill at this particular time when we are all mourning the late former first lady. But I guess his illness is due to the stress and the old age that comes with it. On the other hand, if it is true that Edward Mumbi and William Banda have been clobbered, I say well done to the clobbers. We expect William to reap what he sow during the reign of the MMD. Remember how this william behaved at the funeral of FTJ! Surely time is the master for each one of us. I do not condone violence but there are some people who deserve to be treated according to the way they treated others. Now I hope people realise to treat others as they would want to be treated.
