Nkana Beat Assembly to Enhance Their Survival Chances

Nkana continued their swim away from troubled waters after beating National Assembly 1-0 away at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka today.

However, Nkana left it until late to beat bottom placed Assembly after a scoreless first half.

Joseph Milanzi scored the vital goal for Nkana in the 85th minute.

Milanzi swept in the ball from an acute position after Enock Jere teed off the ball with his chest into the scorers path to get the three points for Nkana.

Nkana remain 8th despite recording their third successive league win.

Elsewhere, Zesco United stayed second behind Zanaco after an important 2-0 away win at Green Eagles.

Simon Silwimba and John Chingandu were on target in Choma for Zesco who are two points behind Zanaco.
Zanaco only play on Sunday away to Konkola Mine Police.

At Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe, Power Dynamos also maintained third place after a 3-0 home win over Konkola Blades.

All three goals were scored by players with close links to Blades.

Ex-Blades players Emmanuel Chimpinde and Thomas Nyirenda scored in the 9th and 44th minutes respectively.

Former Power defender Mathews Kalunga who returned to his childhood club in July had a forgettable reunion at Arthur Davies with an own goal in the 74th minute.

However, the biggest result of the day was recorded at Dola Hill in Ndola where Forest Rangers crushed Green Buffaloes 4-0 in Coach Weston Mumba’s biggest win in charge since taking over from Hector Chilombo in August.

Nasha Kaya scored a brace while Zebron Njobvu and Mala Besa added a goal each.

Forest move one place from 10th to 9th.

Meanwhile, leaders Zanaco only take to the field on Sunday away to Konkola Mine Police in Chililabombwe.

Fourth placed Red Arrows too are in action on Sunday when they host Napsa Stars.
