On May 21, 2025, Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo and ZNS Commander Lieutenant General Maliti Solochi visited the site during an inspection of the bridge where ZNS officers were carrying out reconstruction works.
During the project, the ZNS team reportedly faced challenges in finding a place to establish a temporary base, as some nearby residents were hesitant to offer their premises.
However, a resident, Mrs. Mulenga, allowed the officers to use her property to set up their operations.
Her son, Alex Mulenga, also volunteered to assist the officers at the construction site and worked alongside them during the reconstruction works.
Following the gesture, Minister Matambo requested Lt Gen Solochi to consider Alex for recruitment into the Zambia National Service. The request was accepted and Alex was later enlisted.
After completing his training, Alex recently visited the minister’s office to express gratitude to President Hakainde Hichilema, Lt Gen Solochi and Minister Matambo for the opportunity
