DEC arrests Nigerian, two Zambians for cocaine trafficking

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has arrested a Nigerian national and two Zambians for trafficking in cocaine weighing 46.2g which was concealed in a clear plastic.

DEC Public Relations Officer, Samuel Silomba, identified the trio as Danny Gideon Amagbaobi, 27, a businessman of House Number 1426, Chimwemwe in Kitwe, who has been arrested and jointly charged with Chris Simukonda, 34, of Lusaka’s Emmasdale area and Pephias Chiyengele, a taxi driver of Kitwe.

Mr Silomba explained that the trio trafficked in 46.2g of cocaine concealed in a clear plastic and were apprehended along the Kitwe-Chingola road after along trail and a Toyota Fun Cargo they were using has been seized by the Commission.

He said this in a press statement released to the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Lusaka today.

Mr Silomba further said the Commission in Central Province arrested Maggie Namugala, 43, and Musonda Nalwamba, 43, both of Iyolo village in Nakonde, for trafficking in 80 bundles and 77 bundles of Miraa weighing 25.7kg and 23.8 kg respectively.

He said the two suspects were arrested at Kapiri Mposhi check point on a Lusaka bound bus.

And in the last five days, Mr Silomba said the Commission has arrested 20 people countrywide for trafficking in various quantities of cannabis.

He explained that among those arrested were Emmanuel Sinyangwe, 36, a traditional healer of Katozi village in Nakonde district, who was arrested and jointly charged with Levyson Mugala, 61, a peasant farmer, for trafficking in 135 kg of cannabis.

The duo was intercepted at Mukuti village in Muchinga Province as they were waiting for a buyer.

Mr Silomba said all the suspects will appear in court soon.

  1. The DEC emblem glorifies Ichamba and other drugs. so why do they arrest pipo? just thinking.

  2. Ba DEC can we have reports of you you are doing statistically in terms nature of offences, arrests and convictions. These rampant arrests with no further updates mean nothing if only poor villagers are targeted. Go to acardes after 22:30hrs and arrest tthe proper drug peddlers.
