Broadcasting services have been disrupted at Parliament Television and Radio of the National Assembly, following a fire incident that has caused significant damage to equipment and infrastructure.
In a statement issued to the media, by the Acting Clerk of the National Assembly, Loveness Mayaka, investigations have since commenced to establish the unknown cause of the fire.
She added that security personnel on duty noticed the fire around 03hrs this morning and alerted the Lusaka City Fire Brigade that responded promptly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other offices.
Ms Mayaka, who commended the Fire Brigade, stated that her institution remains committed to ensuring safety and integrity of all its facilities.
She has since thanked members of the public for their understanding as her institution works towards restoring normal operations of the radio and television.
