Argentina thump Chipolopolo

Leicester City striker Patson Daka was benched as Chipolopolo were thrashed 5-0 by FIFA World Cup champions Argentina in a friendly match away in Buenos Aires early on Wednesday morning.
‎
‎Zambia coach George Lwandamina preferred Albert Kangwanda over Daka.
‎
‎Daka was introduced in the 60th minute for Kingston Mutandwa at the time Zambia was down by 3-0.
‎
‎As expected, Argentina dominated both halves to maintain their status.
‎
‎Playing at the iconic La Bombonera, Argentina took a 2-0 lead into the half time break.
‎
‎Argentina star Nicolás Otamendi said his team showed improvement after struggling in recent matches.
‎
‎”It was a long road, with many joys and some sorrows because that’s football. I leave with the feeling of having given everything for the National Team, always ready to defend this jersey, “Otamendi said in a postmatch comment.
‎
‎”There is no greater satisfaction than wearing the national team jersey. Very happy for this farewell at home.”
‎
‎”The World Cup is still to come, and we’re going to compete and defend the title. As Leo once said, people should believe because we have what it takes,” he said.
‎
‎”To have a chance with the national team, you have to do the same as at your club; you have to perform because the train passes by and you don’t have time.”
‎
‎By news time, Lwandamina was yet to comment on the loss to Argentina.

  1. Our team appeared mesmerized, bewildered and disoriented by our opponents.

    • Yaba! Right now I’m not identifying myself as a Zambian in the pubs. I told the nosey barman I was from South Africa then he said “you lost at home to Panama?”
I then told him I’m actually from Lesotho. I explained that my country is completely surrounded by South Africa-that’s why I hide under the South African flag. He gave me a suspicious smile and I told him to just hurry up with my beer.

  2. You should always put things in perspective. The team was 0-2 down at half-time, goals concede 40 min apart!! next 2 goals in the 2nd -half were self-inflicted. That means over 94 min play-time The Team conceded at 4-43-50-68-94 minutes! Without self-inflicted goals and added time the game was a potential 2-0!! Lets start building!!

    • Just look at Kalusha Bwalya himself. When he was FAZ chief he stubbornly brought in his own coach. And that coach won us Afcon. He knew what he was doing. BoMweemba don’t listen to govt officials and tuntemba football club owners ordering you to use a local coach when we dont have one. The result is such tragedies! Dont belittle yourself
Zambia is a big name in football It’s up to you to claim the big stage as yours. Even Malawi never loses 5-0. This is a scandal.

  3. FAZ, It’s time you started listening to some of us. We told you right here on LT that this game would be lost by cricket scores.
I myself pleaded with Messi to stop scoring at 6-0 and I’m a little bit glad he heard my plea. But the point is we all knew we were heading for disaster except you FAZ and your players.

    • Even before going to Afcon we told you the team had no coach but you stuck with Experiments. Experiments that we have been doing for 50 years. Hoping for a different result from the same experiments? Don’t we learn?

    • In this game I predicted a 6-0 loss not because I’m a sangoma but because anyone in the street knows the state of our football. It’s at what Donald Trump would call sh#thole stage.
Bo Mweemba look around yourself and see who have been the successful citizens. It’s not those who do what everyone did or does. It’s persons with their own plan. But from what we are seeing so far FAZ is just chimbwi no planning.

  4. Don’t blame FAZ – ask which company puts money to sponsor development of anything in Zambia?

  5. 5-0. My! My! My!
We have now played 270 minutes without scoring.
    Where are our sports reporters?
It’s a record. The bluntest Frontline in Chipolopolo history.

  6. @soccer fan no 1. Your example of Great Kalu is smack on target. Mweemba should learn sumthing from there. Have a working plan. Don’t just come to the office to Supervise people

  7. Why go so far just to embarrass yourselves? FAZ must resign! I cant remember when we lost a game by that margin. It seems like the players were playing to lose.
