Power Dynamos and Red Arrows will face-off in the 2026 ABSA Cup final after winning their respective semifinal encounters played as a double-header at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Saturday afternoon.
Arrows advanced to the final after edging lower league side Chirundu United 2-0 in the second semifinal tie.
Coach Chisi Mbewe’s Airmen scored in either half to overcome Chirundu, who showed character throughout the encounter.
Forward Angel Lubamba scored the opener for Arrows against the run of play as Chirundu were caught napping in the box.
Arrows only doubled the lead seven minutes away from full time.
“We knew it was not going to be an easy game playing against Chirundu, who had built confidence after eliminating Kabwe Warriors and Zanaco. We planned to fight here at Levy Mwanawasa and qualify to the ABSA Cup final,” said Arrows coach Mbewe.
“The Chirundu coaching bench deserve credit.Chirundu were full of confidence and threatened at goal,” he said.
Chirundu coach Caston Chilekwa said his players lacked maturity in the match against Arrows.
“I give credit to Red Arrows for qualifying to the final. Arrows showed maturity then my boys lacked maturity in the final third. We are very proud of the team,” Chilekwa said.
Meanwhile, Power needed post-match penalties to eject Mufulira Wanderers from the ABSA Cup in the first semifinal match.
After a goalless draw in 90 minutes, Power beat Mighty 2-1 on penalties.
The penalty shootout was characterised by misses from both teams.
FAZ is yet to fix the date and venue for the final.
