Sean Tembo and his team were left disappointed after arriving at the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) offices after 17:00 hours, only to find them closed.
Tembo had earlier unveiled Chanda Katotobwe as the presidential candidate for the Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) in the upcoming August 13 general elections and was escorting him to pay the required nomination fee.
However, upon arrival, police officers at the premises informed the team that ECZ offices close at 17:00 hours daily, meaning they had missed the deadline.
Taking to social media, Tembo expressed frustration, questioning how the country could claim to be operating a 24-hour economy while key public institutions maintain limited working hours.
“We are surprised because we thought we were told that the country is running a 24-hour economy. How can you run a 24-hour economy when offices are closed?” he said.
He argued that public institutions should have officers available at all times to serve citizens, especially during critical periods such as elections.
Tembo further stated that if elected, his party would implement a system where public offices operate around the clock.
“There should always be an officer to attend to people. You can’t close at 17:00 and call it a 24-hour economy,” he added.

A joker may be but not wrong in what he’s saying

Thank you Lord that you will never allow a person like this to lead Zambia.
