ZAF athlete dominates 2026 KK Day Marathon in Lusaka

The Zambia Air Force (ZAF) made a strong mark at the 2026 KK Day Marathon, with one of its athletes claiming top honours in a competitive field.

Senior Aircraftswoman Sijuwa Offless, representing the Red Arrows Athletes Club, outpaced her rivals to win the women’s 21km race during the annual event held in Lusaka.

Her fellow ZAF runner, Mudenda Rodrick, secured second place in the same category, further highlighting the Air Force’s dominance in the race.

In other categories, Mwila Abigail finished second in the women’s 10km race, while Sijuwa Esther came third. Musonda Japhet also claimed third position in the men’s 10km event.

Meanwhile, Kasalamu Jane braved the full 42km marathon and finished third.

The KK Day Marathon, held in honour of Zambia’s founding president Kenneth Kaunda, attracted over 6,500 participants across various race categories, including the full marathon, half marathon, 10km and 5km races.

The event was led by Youth, Sport and Arts Minister Elvis Nkandu, alongside other government officials.

The marathon continues to celebrate Kaunda’s legacy of unity, echoing his enduring message: “Tiyende Pamozi Ndi Mutima Umodzi” (Let us walk together with one heart).
