DMMU directs district offices to distribute palm dates to flood victims

The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) has directed its district offices to prioritise distribution of about 700 Thousand Kwacha, worth of Palm Dates that have been donated by Saudi Arabia, to victims affected by floods during the 2025-2026 rainfall.

Speaking during the donation ceremony in Lusaka, DMMU National Coordinator, Norman Chipakupaku, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary for Resettlement, Marvis Nkomesha, says the donation will contribute to mitigating the impact of the recent natural disaster.

“The recent floods in some districts of the Northern and Eastern region of the country brought untold hardships to a number of vulnerable communities,” Said Mr Chipakupaku.

Mr Chipakupaku reiterated the government’s commitment to improving people’s livelihoods amidst natural occurring disasters.

Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Zambia, Ali Alkahtani, who was represented by the Embassy’s Head of Media, Ahmed Abdou, said the donation is a reflection of the kingdom’s continued commitment to humanitarian cooperation and support for friendly nations.

Mr Alkahtani added that his country is committed to strengthened cooperation that benefits the people of the two countries.

The 25 Metric Tonnes donation is part of the Annual and Humanitarian Relief assistance extended by Saudi Arabia, through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid Relief.

  1. Much like last time they will be on the market soon at a price
    or gifted by our politicians

  2. Here’s a corrected version with improved spelling and grammar while keeping your original tone and meaning:

Out of the total quantity donated, 95% of the dates will be stolen by shameless, thieving, addicted government officials. That’s how corrupt the country is.

Nurses and hospital staff steal medication and all government supplies at any given chance. Teachers steal all the food supplied to schools for pupils’ meals. Everyone wants dubiously obtained fast money in Zambia.

Government officials do not rely on their salaries, but on money stolen from government coffers.

It has reached a stage where hardcore thieves such as the Jerabos are glorified – atii, ebababako!

Zambia is a declared Christian nation, and yet it is a den of bapopwe!

  3. Njala monga niboza. It’s a nation of thieves and conmen.
Everyone in Zambia admires a thief who wasn’t caught. They will vote you into government because you are a thief who wasn’t caught.
