CHIEF Registrar of Societies in Zambia Clement Andeleki has said that he does he does not hate churches but merely wants order to prevail in the Christian community.
Mr Andeleki said it was a fallacy for some people to suggest that he was anti-Christianity as his office was operating within the law to correct wrong things which were done some various organisations, including churches.
He said his office has had serious problems with certain people who wanted to use the church to steal and other commit crimes in the name of God.
Mr Andeleki was speaking in Livingstone in an exclusive interview with Zambezi FM Radio Station.
He said his office had no problems with Muslims and other big churches such as the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and United Church of Chirst (UCZ), among many others.
“We have problem with these small churches where a husband and a wife put a tent and Chitenge to worshipping without being registered.
It is an offence for any head teacher to allow a church or a gathering of 10 or more people to operate within a school when such a church has no valid registration certificate to operate in the country,” he said.
Mr Andeleki said when people were doing something wrong, they would always find a reason that would bring hatred.
“For instance, some people were alleging that I am a Muslim and I hate Christians, that is a fallacy,” he said.
Mr Andeleki said he had been officiating in meetings for Muslims, Churches, political parties and other registered organisations without any bias.
“How do you explain a situation where some people go in buses and read one verse then start asking passengers to contribute money for the sermon provided?
We have said no to such things because enough is enough. If you are found preaching in the bus and asking passengers to give you money afterwards, we will deal with you and the owner of the bus because that is stealing,” Mr Andeleki said.
Her said if people wanted to preach in buses, they should go ahead and preach but they should not ask for money from passengers because that amounts to an offence for inconveniencing the traveler.
“A certain man of God in Lusaka has recently been marrying and re-marrying in the church as well as impregnating young girls who go to church to worship. He has been busy cleansing and committing activities which are ungodly.
As chief Registrar of Societies, I am mandated to enforce the Act and I have given him a five year ban though some people have cried foul,” he said.
He said the Registrar of Societies could close any political party whether it was in the ruling party or opposition as well as any organisation or a church which were not following the provisions of the law.
“It is very important for organistions such as churches to register with us so that they can have legal existence purposes.
For instance if your church is not registered and you invite another preacher from outside the country, that preacher can’t be allowed to preach in Zambia unless the church is registered,” he said.
He reiterated that it was an offence for any branch of the church or NGO to operate without being registered by the Registrar of Societies.
“When you register, there are a lot of advantages such as owning land, buying or owning property and accessing loans.
Anyone who operates unregistered entity commits a crime which attracts not less than seven years under the Societies Act,” he said.
Andeleki really? I guess its safe to conclude you just hate our mighty MMD party and you would very much like it to disappear.Your master wouldn’t let you mess with churches since he is a practising catholic but MMD is fair game.
Iwe kamudala do you know how many scandals are in sda and ucz?You must be living on mars. You just hate pentecostals because your boss hates them to.Its public knowledge. All you are simply doing now is kuichaila!
My Guy respect and stay away from things your mind cant comprehend or understand…
What scandals are in the SDA church, can you be specific?
Andeleki. The TB in his balls is fast spreading. I fear for his dear life. he is insane, why is he only targeting organisations critical to PF?
we wont buy his rantings.
is it your money that these preachers in buses are asking for.tendalama sha noko iwe ka under the lake
We need order in this country.you might not like wat he is doing but i truely support him.
he is there to enforce the law not morality=if a pastor is livng in sin the church constitution should deal with it and not the registrar
SDA you are supporting is very corrupt, one time they had a conference and the following morning condoms were piked from everywhere they gathered, Catholics in large amounts.
Looks like the victims are attacking their protector here. Churches DO NOT PAY TAX. If that is not enough leeway I don’t know what is. If that doesn’t send an alert to be more scrutinizing about the activities of religious entities in the country, I don’t know what will… Enough said.
let the man do his job he is just following the law .lets support him. surely ,some churches do not deserve to be called churches they are business ventures u can tell from the way these churches demand for money from their poor followers .God help us.
Any activity must be regulated, so that it does not spiral out of control. The churches in Zambia are slowly spiralling out of control. In fact there should be register for Reverends, bishops, and the like, to make them abide to professional ethics. All major professions like doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc are registrable by law, why not priests? Weed out the fake priests! They are tarnishing the image of such a wonderful profession……
This is guys is doing better than Sata according to my statistical estimates.
THE PF GOVT HAS REDUCED OUR RURAL HARDSHIP ALLOWANCE IN THE MILITARY WEF 1 DEC 2012 AND SOLDIERS ARE VERY ANNOYED EVERY WHERE YOU GO. HOW CAN THEY REDUCE SALARIES ALL THE TIME WITHOUT HAVING ANY FORA TO DISCUSS EMPLOYEES TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICES. WE SHALL SEE.
iwe Hara, what is the topic at hand? who cares whether you are paid or not? are we at war? siufola beans, saladi na unga wama hara (monga zina yako)? mwebene masoja ati lation?….give us some space…..ati ‘we shall see’, uyofya bandani? do u even know how to plan a coup iwe private wakantu?
I support Andeleki 100% on this one! It is just too much of these “my wife and I Ministries”.Go to any school on a sunday, you will find several pente churches”praying”.The tuma pastors of these churches are just crooks, businessmen! There is a difference, in terms of how prayers are conducted between SDA,Catholic,UCZ….hence the different churches but there is none whatsoever between the tuma pente churches!!! If the ka senior pastor and his number 2 differ on mutulo, the ka junior pastor forms his own kantemba church! Awe mwe, close them!!!!
I’m with you on this one bro. Twachilamo utu ma fake churches
Yes! There it is! He can’t deny or renounce his master the devil.
Andeleki’s comments are worth taking seriously. Most pastors need to realize that as individuals they have to start contributing to the national treasury. Most people in formal employment are forced to pay huge taxes at the expense of these pastors who do not contribute anything towards public finance. Let them all get registered and churches should start remitting taxes deducted from these pastors period. Good JOB ANDELEKI
Andeleki is a Jesuit trained part of the evil Roman Catholic who are on a path to destroy the Pentecostal Churches in Zambia.
That is why he jumped to attack Nevers Mumba with his evil friend Mmembe of the Roman Catholic. These evil chimpanzees are bent to destroy Zambians as they did in Rwanda using Sata!
The body of Christ in Zambia need to rise up in prayers and face these evil satanists in the name of Andeleki, Mmembe, and Sata and his PF.
Sata is on record attacking Pentecostal Pastors and Churches now he is using Andeleki to destroy Evangelicals and Pentecostals. It wont work, even the evil Pope in the time of Martin Ruther failed to silence him.
All we want is that these pastors whether catholic, baptist, sda or pentecostal as long as someone is earning income they should pay tax.period
Andeleki thinks Pentecostal Churches supports Mumba and MMD so together with his boss Sata he is on the attack! Wait you will have your time. You can not fight the Almighty God!
ANDELEKI IS RIGHT! THESE CHURCHES ARE NOW BUSINESSES. LOOK AT THE LIFE STYLES OF MOST OF THE CLERGY MEN AND WOMEN IN ZAMBIA. THEY ALL WANT TO LEAD AN EXPENSIVE LIFE AND AS FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST, THEY SHOULD REMEMBER THAT JESUS LED A VERY SIMPLE LIFE. HE EVEN HAD NO HOUSE OR HOME FOR HIMSELF. HE ALSO CHOSE A SIMPLE PROFESSION OF A CARPENTER AND YET IF HE WANTED, HE COULD HAVE LIVED IN LUXURY AS A KING. SHAME ON YOU FALSE PREACHERS AND PROPHETS.
It is NOT about how many members a congregation has it is about morality .You can’t stop anyone from meeting in a number they want or are. Where two or three are in Jesus’name Jehovah is there. The law of Zambia is wrong here if that’s what it wants.
The law must b in comformit with wat de bible says. E.g.lt isn’t a college or person that qualifies me 2 be a precher(1 Tim 3 &Titus 1) Wat i nid 2 do is 2 register my congregation n stict 2 wat de bible says. Actually a gud xtian is a gud ctizen
I know his name (andeleki), his initials (pf) but i wonder what his surname is
Just register your things; remember there are four mother bodies: ZEC for Catholics, CCZ for protestant churches like UCZ etc, EFZ for evangelical churches like baptists and some normal pentecostal churches e.g.. pentecostal assemblies of god and ICOZ for independent christian churches like zion church and some churches with a mixture of pentecostal tendencies and african religious traditions. So, go and register yourselves, and try to fall under these four things, maybe with exception of ZEC because it is solely for Catholics.
All we want is that these pastors whether catholic, baptist, sda or pentecostal as long as someone is earning income they should pay tax.period XXXXXX
Peaople should not hide in the name of religion to run away from their obligations of remiting tax for public utilities
Please people open your heads and don’t be confused by this guy.People who come to church are always taxed by the government why should the church pay tax to him.Remember the church has done far better than what politians have done.Today in many compounds we are coming from, there are better because of the same churches been condemned.Whether small church or big there have been contributing to society for a long time, what has gone wrong today?
The people who preach in buses do not force people to give them money but ask for an offering and its not compulsory that one gives offering but depends on the individual.Pls do not stop evangelists preaching the word of God cos it helps easy up tensions experienced by people when they’re travelling.I think this Adeleki is a muslim and doesn’t want people to be preached to.Thats how such restrictions started in USA and now they can’t even pray in schools.
Acts 4, all chapter can help solve this matter, one out of the rulers said ( if this they are doing is of themselves we will manage to stop them but if it is from God )? I rest my contribution.
If you want to see what Andeleki is talking about go to Evelyn Hone College on a Sunday morning and count how many different churches congregate there. Last time I counted more than 10 including one member of staff’s ‘family church’.
So bane bloggers what do you want pa Zed, Dr. Kaseba is given money, ati the office of the first Lady is not an institution, its unlawful!!!! Andeleki says register your tutemba churches, NGOs and Parties according to the law, you cry blue murder. This man is doing his job, what he was employed for, he is not attacking organisations whose Accounts are clean but those acting outside the law. I have a katemba company registered under PACRO, they would deregister me ASAP if I owed what MMD owes to the Registerer of Societies. So are you all suggesting that we hung the law? Some bloggers here do not make sense, its only about ranting!!! Think, analyse then comment please, we are tired of people ranting over nothing on this blog, eish!
