UPND Choma Central Member of Parliament Cornelius Mweetwa has assured people in the constituency that government will resolve the problem of ZESCO power blackouts which have negatively affected the smooth operations of Choma General hospital.
Mr Mweetwa said government through the Ministry of Health has promised to provide a standby power generator to cushion the ZESCO power blackouts.
He told ZANIS in Choma today that Minister of Health Dr Joseph Kasonde has made a commitment to provide Choma general hospital with a power generator within a month.
Mr Mweetwa said there is no need for people in the area to worry as government is doing everything possible to address the challenge of steady supply of electricity at the hospital.
The parliamentarian said the institution which is serving a large population requires a reliable electricity supply system that will guarantee smooth operations.
Choma general hospital has been experiencing operational challenges resulting from frequent electricity supply disruptions.
This situation has impacted negatively on the operations of some vital units at the institution such as the theatre, X-ray, mortuary and kitchen.

good to hear that you dialoguing with the govt. on developmental issues. thats how it suppose to be. let development reach all corners of the country for the benefit of all zambians regardless of their political affiliations. keep it up.
They only promise stuff to people in their region what about my aunt in Kaputa.
Playing with people’s lives.is there anything that operates to the best expected standard in Zambia? Can someone mention a few public bodies please!
Unfortunately even sensitive and critical institutions such as the military barracks are not spared from ZESCO power blackouts thereby jeopardizing national security.\
What kind of people are we?
I wonder where PF is taking this country imagine you are doing an operation in theatre and power goes that’s dangerous Ba PF don’t play with pipo’s lives . Mweetwa is also being political and sympathetic with PF It’s cheaper to buy generator than hold a useless bye election PF PF and Sata if u have ears listen to me
And what are you doing as a Zambian wherever you are apart from sitting on the net castigating PF for the wrongs your under 5 and his team are doing? Why do you always want the Govt to do things for you, yet there’s literally nothing you are doing for your Country? Think before you open that stinking mouth of yours.
That is a very sensible statement from Hon Connelious Mweetwa, he is very confident with the PF government.
Careful iwe mweetwa if govt fail to provide the generator, people will be on you.anyway its good you are working with govt of the day like chiefs.
complete your sentence like this .”The pf government is doing everything possible to normalise etc. lol.
Good talk hon MP, viva development abash hungry thieves who want plots that they can’t even develop. PF plus MMD is equal to UNIP. Yo excellency HH encourage these guys to work hard. Viva UPND viva HH.
Can someone ask a question in parliament how many deaths have been recorded at Choma General hospital in recent years as a result of these power cuts? The Minister of Health and ZESCO should be taken to task for any deaths that have occured at this hospital and any other hospital in the country for that matter. A generator is not expensive and this should have been provided a long time ago. What is going on in this country?
Good to hear of the upnd MP working with Govt. This problem was created by MMD and its not only in choma but thru out the country.
