Director of Public Prosecution Mutembo Nchito has sought the High Court’s Order that eight people recently arrested in Mongu for seditious practices, should stand trial in Mumbwa.

Mr Nchito has contended that it may not be conducive to conduct trial in MONGU due to security reasons.

Mr Nchito says he has been informed by the police that the environment in Mongu after the arrest of the accused poses security concerns.

But defence Lawyers Sakwiba Sikota has contended that the application is misconceived on grounds that the accused are not appearing before any Court Subordinate to the High Court.

Mr Sikota says this implies that there is no order on which jurisdiction the trial of the accused must be carried out.

This is in a matter where Christopher Muyendekwa and Seven others are arrested and charged with Seditious Practice contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

Mr Muyendekwa’s co-accused are Malamo Mubiana, Mulima Mubiana, Nalumino Mufwendo and Augustine Chingumba.

Others are Charles Mubita Silumesii, Kaiko Kaiko and Mubina Muyunda.

The suspects were arrested on January 9, 2013.

    • So now Mutembo is the minister of home affairs? Why is talking about security? He is an alarmist, he should be arrested, like any other.

  1. who is nchito to tell us what to do. he is an open criminal who should be sent to rot in jail. he must pay for the billions he stole from zambia.

  2. How can a country have a criminal as its Chief Prosecutor? And what’s this nonsense about seditious material or whatever the nonsense is? You should stop criminalizing dissent you uncivilized people. Calling for secession should never be a crime in a civilized country. Should the UK govt start arresting Scots who are calling for secession? Should Obama arrest all the petitioners from the Southern States calling for secession? Should the Quebecois be arrested in Canada? Typical !diotic African government. Zambia IQ 70!

  3. ‘Security concerns’ lol, wait until those concerns reach your house.
When are you paying back the 14 billion you stole from the Zambian people?

  4. what are these called seditious practice those who have done law help to understand this offense which deserve direct high court

  5. Ps 82:2 How long will you judge unjustly, And show partiality to the wicked? Selah
Ps 82:4 Deliver the poor and needy; Free them from the hand of the wicked.
Ps 91:8 Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked.
Ps 92:7 When the wicked spring up like grass, And when all the workers of iniquity flourish, It is that they may be destroyed forever.
Ps 92:11 My eye also has seen my desire on my enemies; My ears hear my desire on the wicked Who rise up against me.
Ps 94:3 LORD, how long will the wicked, How long will the wicked triumph?

    • There are many firms which were engaged to liquidate parastatals, Grant Thornton was only one of them which was engaged, other foreign firms got bigger tenders and externalised their profits. HH, as a small shareholder reinvested his profits in Zambia and successfully multiplied his wealth. That’s an impressive Zambian. Zambia lost a lot of money to foreigner through privatisation when Sata was in the top 5 most powerful people in MMD. HH is a genuine hardworking, brilliant businessman. If your neighbour sends contractors to cut off a branch in your yard, who do you blame? Any sane person should appreciate such local entrepreneurs. Many of you on this site just hate him on tribal grounds. He is an inspiration to some young Zambians like me. If you meet him in person, he is a humble guy.

  7. The same person who purported to fight for justice for the people is now fighting the people. Mutembo is a massive disappointment. His end will be very bad, the whole clique. This guy is a financial glutton, how can he pocket the proceedings of the crimes he fought? We need galant men and women in Zambia, like Elliot Ness, who fought crime without personal gain. Fipuba fye fyonse ifi, including his employer who multiplies his salary immediately he’s elected. Very uninspiring crooks.

  8. History has a tendency of repenting itself. Rupiah tried abaloshi in mumbwa, Ba Sata came out a big helo by releasing them. he thought they wud stop demanding session but alas they have continued. Abaloshi are hard hearted, difficult, good for nothing & die hard. they are like arabs, the only message they listen to harshness. dont use kids glove. i miss wazakaza nkuni, buny u went too soon inchito kuno. i hate u guys like my ex girl friend mwangala. ukufita like the a……

  9. Remember South Sudan, they were sidelined, tortured called names, killed, court marshalled but at last they won the day against their killers. So Barotseland may not be free today, tomorrow but one day someone will sucuumb to pressure from the international communities. And that will be the day.
