Home Minister Edgar Lungu says his Ministry has intensified its quest to revoke diplomatic passports from retired senior government officials and diplomats due to alleged rampant misuse of the privileged passports.
Mr. Lungu has observed that the example of the MMD leader Dr. Nervous Mumba who posses a diplomatic passport but early this week was in South Africa to petition that Zambia be suspended from the Commonwealth, is only a tip of the abuse of the diplomatic passports.
Mr. Lungu has disclosed to Qfm in a telephone interview that his Ministry is currently engaging the protocol office of the Foreign Affairs Ministry to ensure that they communicate with the former diplomats to surrender their diplomatic passports.
He charged that government would not be in the right form mind to extend the courtesy of the diplomatic passports to former diplomats who are misusing their diplomatic protocols to denounce the government in foreign lands.

Nevers Mumba did not go to South Africa because he has a diplomatic passport. An ordinary passport would still have seen him to South Africa.

@John, the deifinition of abuse is where something is used for a purpose it was not intended for. once you have a diplomatic passport, there are certain obligations that come with the privaledge, and one of them is not speaking ill of the government you represent… so using a diplomatic passport for the purpose such as that in SA legally ammounts to abuse, even though morally he might be right….. legally by virtue of possesing the diplomatic passport its defined as abuse….. or donchi kubeba hahahha

its because you dont want them to hlod their rallies in there own country but with or without diplomatic passports they still travel,thats why we see each new administration firing senior security officers bcoz they are being used by government of the day without knowing that once the party is booted out of office they pack together.

Mr Sata’s memory fails him on daily basis and has become oblivious of those that saved him as a Zambian when he deserved it. Mr Sata was taken ill and his wife too were evacuated to South Africa by MMD govt as zambians. Col Bizyayo Nkunika was Zambian ambassador then in SA and Sata was well served and made to speak to RB by Col Nkunika to which Sata expressed gratitude. To day Sata makes changes for Col Nkunika to be moved from UK to pave way for his relative as UK ambassador. Ungrateful attitudes always yield calaminy on oneself.

Some of these ministerial statements are funny. I thought it is his duty to collect the D/passports at the appropriate time. Now why is he talking to us? Does he want us to tell him how to do his work?
