Urgently address the issue of exam leakages, govt told

Luapula member of parliament, Peter Machungwa, says government needs to urgently address the issue of examination leakages.

Dr. Machungwa says the increasing cases of examination leakages is a major concern.

He says there is need for the government to act quickly to uphold the intergrity of the Zambian examination system.

Dr. Machungwa was contributing to a debate in parliament on a report on education science and technology.

He said authorities should ensure they get to the root cause of the problem to find a lasting solution.

Several pupils and teachers have been arrested in the last few weeks in connection with examination leakages.

  1. How can it be addressed when everything in this country is corrupt…corruption is our daily anthem…The Election leacked so what can we say?!

  2. The Government is leaking as it is…Leakage will forever be around as long as salaries of civil servants remain low and conditions of service repugnant…

  3. We should remember that education in Zambia is based on passing national examminations regardless of what pupils learn. Furthermore, teachers are poorly trained and paid resultiing in strikes, poor staffing, low morale, substandard houses, teacher attrition, lack of teaching materials. If you want to address issues of leakages all these should be looked into. Don’t just talk about pupils who buy a paper to increase theier chances of a better life. A serious shake up of our core Zambian society is needed in order to address education problems in Zambia. One can conclude that Zambians do not value education when you look at the educational levels of our politicians

  4. The wise solve problems by digging the roots out while the unwise will keep on cutting down the branches of the problem every year as branches will keep on shooting, shame on the government. Baby C can we meet at London Waterloo on tuesday next week to discuss matters of national (zambia) importance.

  5. Those who use leakage to pass their exams end up failing at the first hurdle at the University, at the same time taking away the places of those who deserve them. Min of Ed please acquit your selves.

  6. LEAKAGES YACHILIMO NO WANDER A CHAP WITH STRAIGHT ONES END UP FAILLING FIRST YEAR AT UNZA.THE REMEDY IS FOR THE GOVT TO PAY THE TEACHERS NICELY.NOW WANDER WE HAVE GRADE 12s WHO CAN WRITE ANY ENGLISH WORD OR WORD IN HIS /HER MOTHER TONQUE.

  7. #12 Leakages are all over, even at universities, colleges etc leakages are there. What the Government should do is to find a way of improving the education standards and maybe make exams as easier as possible. You find one getting a one in maths and this person will end up doing a course where maths is not the necessary.

  8. Thats why all zambians must migrate! This is the only way to shame GRZ, because there will be no 1 to tax.
