Nkana bounce back to stay top

Nkana bounced back from last weekend’s first leg defeat of the season to record a sensational home win over nemesis Zanaco on Saturday at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe on Saturday.

The record 11-time league champions beat Zanaco 2-1 to pick up their first home win over Zanaco since 2010.

Nkana’s win saw them to open a five point gap at the top of the Faz Su00per Division table.

The hosts took a 49th minute lead through Festus Mbewe who fired in a volley to put Nkana ahead.

Reynold Kampmba extended Nkana’s lead from the penalty spot in the 64th.

Just three minutes later, Zanaco picked up their consolation goal also from the spot through Henry Banda.

Nkana came close to adding a third goal in the 88th minute but Chakwa Lungu blasted his close range shot into the side of the net when it looked easier to score in front of an obliging Zanaco goal mouth.

The Kitwe giants have 19 points from eight games played so far this season.

Nkana will stay top regardless if Nchanga Rangers beat Lime Hotspurs on Sunday at the Trade Fair Grounds in Ndola.

Second placed Nchanga have 14 points from seven games heading into their trip to Ndola on Sunday.

  7. The table is tricky, you really have to rearrange it yourself to get some sense out of it! Kwati ni puzzle zoona!

    • That is why I depend on other sites. You get the results a the same afternoon after the games. Ba LT awe

  8. Full time Lime 3-1 Nchanga ! ! ! ! No there is nothing wrong with you eyesight ! ! Dramatic scenes at Trade Fair Grounds ! ! Ranger dominated the game and scored first and it looked all over until goal scorer Ng’onga was sent off for punching an opponent ! Then they crumbled conceding in 86 , 87 and 90 minutes ! WOW ! ! !

  9. Ba LT what do you mean by saying “Nkana bounces back to stay on top”? we have been on top ever seen the league started and no team has displaced us for us to bounce back.
