UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema has accused the PF Government of paying themselves a lot money, which he described as subsidy to themselves.
Speaking today in Livingstone after he appeared for mention before Livingstone Magistrates Andrew Kasongo, Mr accused the PF Government of having increased their salaries.
“They have increased their salaries and paying themselves lot money which is a subsidy,” he said
Mr Hichilema also said the cost of living had increased because of the removal of maize and fuel subsidies while Government was subsiding itself more.
“Now it is so expensive to move from Livingstone to Lusaka due to the removal of subsidy. The people of Zambia must open their eyes and ears and see that their Government has no interest for their people,” he said.
Mr Hichilema also said he expected President Michael Sata to fire Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe when he allegedly said that the PF was in power to satisfy their belies.
Mr Hichilema accused the Patriotic Front (PF) Government of taking UPND leaders to court on made-up charges.
Earlier, Mr Hichilema appeared in the Livingstone Magistrate Court in a case where the opposition leader has been charged with proposing violence contrary to the laws of Zambia.
Mr Hichilema appeared for mention before Livingstone Magistrates Andrew Kasongo. The Livingstone Magistrates Court has since set September 26 and 27 this year as dates for trial in the matter while Mr Hichilema’s police bond has been extended.
Further, the Court set June 28 as well as July 29 and August 29 this year for Mr Hichilema’s mention
He is just accusing them, after-all they also accuse him of accumulating dubious wealth. So no truth here baasa!

This strategy of campaigning basing on subsidies is a poor one. The issue is pf may suspend subsidies for 2yrs and accomplish some goes and then resubsidies further after that.what will HH’s compaign base on then. Majority of voters only needs surplises and they maintain the vote. if tomorrow pf reverse on subsidies what message shall come from HH? Zambian voters are still behind that’s why simple slogans sway them. What will happen if fuel comes to k7 per ltr and maize k40. These guys know what they are doing wait and see!!!!

you know what i took a close look at judge chikopa`s picture then i compared it to HH picture,, in some ways they look like brothers mwe. but judge chipoka seems to have put on some weight and his matobo has changed abit since his arrival in the country,, subsidy money should be working for him.

Taxpayer dependent PF cadres are out in full force making use of the Kabimba laptops! You have Ministers salaries raised by a whopping 150% plus 800 litre monthly free fuel allowance and you still want to deny the fact that Sata and his Ministers are a bunch of self serving leeches!

Spot on….when the Statutory Instrument No. 18 of 2012: The Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices Emoluments (Amendment) Regulations, 2012 was passed why didn’t Hichilema or his MPs alert us last year…..everyone of them was mute. Hichilema has to be more objective not DISORGANISED if he really wants to be an influential player.

These are allegations Mr. HH. For how long are you going to sober up from your bitterness. Please conduct yourselves wisely and pull the right shots. With this subsidy thing, the PF could be shooting themselves in their foot or making the right moves. Resonate well with the people, let the subsidy issue mess the PF up and be wise to align yourself with people’s sentiments, otherwise to me you are behaving like an empty tin, not knowing exactly when to sound. You could gain yourself quite some hearts if only you sober up, grown up, bitter down and read between the lines. For instance; no increment in allowances/pay
Subsidies to run only for 2013-2014 fiscal year for monitoring purposes, if they do well, can be allowed to extend.
– all ministers to publicly account for fuel allowance as this is on the basis of assisting them perform duties.
– all MPs and ministers to lead by example in saving costs by taking their dependants to public schools and not private schools outside the country.

The salaries for this bloated gov’t together with MPs (both in gov’t and opposition) were increased last year(2012) before the subsidises were removed last week….you tell us where the retrospection is there?

Believe me when I say I’m in the middle ( a swing voter) Forget subsidy issue. I’m a critic of all politicians and will support any positive contribution regardless. Asking HH to strategise on the basis of accountability by no means turns me into a cadre. But of course posts on such a forum readily show where one leans. I endeavor to always make a rational assessment of the topic at hand. In this case, it would have been nice to read of the game plan of opposition seeing that so many pronouncements of bettering the lives of the people have been made by GRZ.

Fuel might be expensive but not everyone drives in zambia. they have just removed the subdies lets wait and see how things are going to develop.

2. Opposition is expected to seek dialogue on No.Fulcauties (sp), capacity of students, expected jobs to be created and specific time frame of complete implementation of the above.
Secondly opposition makes it its own business to ensure that during implementation transparency and democratic governance is practiced for all to benefit.
We need this kind of commitment in opposition in ensuring fairness in distributing
resources.
