The Boston University African Presidential Centre has sent return air tickets to enable Former Republican President Rupiah Banda to travel to South Africa for the 2013 African Presidential Roundtable which begins on Wednesday, 5th June, 2013.

According to the Deputy Administrative Assistant in Mr Banda’s office, Kennedy Limwanya, the former Head of State’s scheduled trip of Tuesday, 4th June, hinges on the court ruling tomorrow regarding the release of his passport which is in the custody of the Government Joint Investigative Team.

Mr Limwanya said in a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today that the former President and one aide have been booked on South African Airways flight SAA 0063 to depart Kenneth Kaunda International Airport on Tuesday and return to Lusaka shortly after the event that will be held at Constitution Hill in the Winnie Mandela Courtyard.

He also indicated that Boston University President –in- Residence attaché William Twayigize has assured Mr Banda of VIP security to be provided to him upon arrival at Oliver Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.

Mr Limwanya noted that according to Twagiyize, the State protocol will allocate one security officer and one medical doctor to stay with Mr Banda throughout the round table event.

He said that all former heads of state to attend the Presidential Roundtable under the theme “The Cost of Democracy” have been booked at Westcliff Hotel.

Mr Banda has been invited to make a presentation at the 2013 African Presidential Roundtable on what Western countries can do to provide assistance in facilitating the electoral process in Africa and what the current generation of leaders need to do to further stability and democracy on the continent and in their own countries.

    • The Courts will grant RB right to freedom of travel, unfortunately Mumba Maila will appear the ruling. Worse of all Mutembo Nchito has RB’s passport, suing it a notebook.

  1. Send that ticket back this shameless thieving **** Ala Bee is staying put, he is a flight risk. I repeat he is a flight risk on a one way ticket.

    • I agree with you my brother. RB is a flight risk. let his court case be over then he can go wherever he is. The only surety we are going to have unless he brings his son to face justice in Zambia. So outside that, RB is likely to fly away with SA063

  2. Come on ba maxwell the man is still innocent mwe. Life should go on till he has his day in court, dont you think? Rem these guys live a very comfortable life in Zambia, I dont think they want to be a refugee in another country.

    • Even his son Henry is still innocent, but when did we last see´him in Zambia? Is it not this same South Africa which refuses to extradite them? RB is a flight risk and South Africa is a safe Haven… Let him stick around until his case is over. He has not made visible effort to advise his son to return and face the credible justice system, so we can not trust him not to flee.

  3. I repeat this **** Ala Bee is a flight risk on a one way ticket, his blood sucking lawyer Robert Amsterdam is behind all these fictitious useless meetings abroad. We are not *****

  4. His son is on the run. Why is Boston inviting a thief to give a lecture? Even if the court releases his passport, our patriotic immigration officials wont allow any mambala to leave Zambia. No gamble here. Remember RB’s secret visit to SA embassy?

  5. WHEN THIS MAN RUNS AWAY THEN A LOT OF ARM-CHAIR CRITICS WILL RISE UP. THEY WILL START SAYING ITS BECAUSE HE WAS PERSECUTED OTHERS WILL SAY WHY DID YOU ALLOW HIM TO LEAVE ETC. SO FOR THE SAKE OF TRANSPARENCY, LET MR BANDA BEHAVE LIKE A HONARABLE STATES MAN. LET HIM STAY WITHIN THE COUNTRY. HE IS A FLIGHT RISK AS AT NOW.
