President Sata has to urgently relook at the quality of some of his Ministers and Deputy Ministers because their intellectual limitation is not only laughable but a serious hindrance to national development.
The utterances by the Deputy Minister in the Office of the Vice President, Hon Harry Kalaba that President Nawakwi lacks understanding of the issues of subsidies is laughable.
We wish to educate Hon Kalaba that President Nawakwi is an accomplished graduate of economics who has served this country diligently in four different Cabinet Portfolios including that of Finance Minister.
It is people like Mr Kalaba who have limited and warped understanding of national issues that are putting President Sata at odds with the public.
As FDD, we wish to reiterate President Nawakwi’s sentiments that:
1. The PF Government should stop playing with people’s lives. Food is a number one priority for any serious Government.
2. Some of these Deputy Ministers are lack basic understanding of the subject of subsidies and pose a danger of misleading themselves and confusing the general public.
3. The 6 billion kwacha that this PF government is spending, sending Ministers and their Deputies gallivanting across the country is wastage of tax payers’ money. That money should instead be taken to critical areas of our social sectors such as Ndola General Hospital which has currently run out of medicines.
4. The 2012/13 PF budget has collapsed due to governments reckless spending on unbudgeted for expenditures such as the never by-election circus.
5. President Kaunda built infrastructure such as universities, roads, hospitals and so on while maintaining subsidies on fuel, agriculture, health, and education. He did not tell us to stop eating because he needed money to build infrastructure.
6. Humility, compassion and the ability to listen are a mark of good leadership so our friends in the Government could do well to listen to what the people on the ground whose lives are hurting due to government’s sudden and inhumane removal of subsidies on fuel, maize and fertilizer.
7. We as FDD shall not engage ourselves in the polemics of politics because it does not put food on the tables of our citizens. We stand ready to offer this Government sound advice on how to effectively run the affairs of our great nation; however, Ministers must humble themselves.

Hands off FDD, Nawakwi, Chifumu Banda and Spokesperson Mwanza. It’s true KK build Zambia with full subsidies, RB brought unprecedented development of just 3 years with subsidies around, so why these guys are they failing? What will we conclude?
Because they are IDIOTS with no understanding of economic policy!
POOR FOOLS. And now these idiots are in charge of the country!
I do not understand why subsidies should worry the opposition so much. I feel the ruling party should worry more because they have dag their own grave. Life will be unbearable for most Zambians and this is not good for the ruling party.
People should worry about losing subsidies because government’s pot of money is dry as a result of careless spending and also because tax payers money is being used to fund a life of leisure for these clueless so called leaders. How on earth do they justify wasting money chris crossing the country when there is no medicine at Ndola central hospital? As if that is not bad enough, they are paying K70million for rent for useless ministers.
HH & Upnd is the best way forward for mother Zambia looking at his personal & corporate achievement & the quality of his team. Zambia needs a complete leadership revolution, the old & the young should join hands for a better Zambia.

It not only minsters in the PF government who have intellectual limitations, but the president too, the man is a grade 4 colonial policeman.
GRADE THREE NOT FOUR. POINT OF CORRECTION!
@4 Mukwasa,
To add to comment I will refer to a well known saying which goes ‘ when the head of a fish is rotten the rest of the fish is rotten’
SUB A (first term) point of correction.
It is true KK built schools, roads and other infrastructure with full subsidies on and the country went bankrupt. The issue of subsidies in Zambia has not been well handled since the days of KK. Why should rich people like Mr. HH, the ministers and others consume subsidized mealie meal when they can afford it even without subsidy. The government needs to work out a system to help poor zambians were only those who are in geniune need of help access subsidised mealie meal in whatever form. Rich Zambians like HH, ministers don’t need subsidied mealie meal. Also, most zambians in urban areas spend there extra money on alcohol. If they could drink less and channel that money to food they wouldn’t complain about mealie meal prices.
Spot on!
Whatever solution the govt will come up with to protect the poor citizens is/will be called “subsidies”. Whether you like it or not! By the way, the govt is there to provide for everybody – it is a constitutional right. Hence, some of those rich people you are talking about will feel not cared for by the state! Then what? – subsidies for rich people??? On 4×4 SUVs, perfume, champagne??? What about those poor people who will want to have these products of the rich? Are they not going to be allowed to buy? How do you choose who is entitled to subsidies and who is not?
Quick tricky, ain’t it?
Kandansa Sunkuntu Hichilema are you one of those people that Antonio Mwanza is referring to? It beats me how you would even think of such a thing. If HH is rich then whether the mealie meal price goes up K1m (Kr1000) he will still afford it. What about us the poor people? Are you going to give us food coupons to access the K1m mealie meal at a subsidized rate? Help me understand your analysis.
One way government can raise funds is to increase levy on alcohol. Botswana is doing it and they are transparent about how much they have generated from the alcohol levy each year and how they will use the money. I am saying this because many Zambians consume too much alcohol. This could be a good source of government revenue.
Ba wishi nga bali milesha ukunwa ikalenifye!
It very unfair to expect much frm pf
Why descriminate against rich people? What parameters are you going to use to determine who is rich,The President and his cabinet are all on subsidised lifestyle despite hefty allowances!
ITS NOT POSSIBLE FOR SATA TO LOOK INTO HIS MINISTERS INTELLECTUALITY BECAUSE HE IS SUCH A DULL CHARACTER ALSO,ALL HE UNDERSTANDS IS DUTIES OF A POLICE CONSTABLE
Somewhere in Africa you will find a popular head of state whose only credential is experience as night-club disc jockey!
Andry Rajoelina ascended to power by unlawful means and is not really popular with his people. The army have kept him in power.
I think that africa does not nid intelectuals.
What we nid is pipo that are dedicated 2 duty.
Jst across the border we had an intelectual in the name of Bingu wamutarika the man failed his country lametebly.
As 4 nawaki it’s true what she is saying. But when she was finance minister many of us the poor pipo did not feel her impact. In simple laguage the MMD 2 which she belonged 2 were jst a bunch of thieves who made this countrys economy stall.
