Angola coach laments penalty defeat

Angola coach Gustavo Ferrin has regretted that The Palancas Negras lost their 2013 COSAFA Cup quarterfinal clash against Lesotho on penalties.

Lesotho beat Angola 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in Kitwe to book a semi-final date against COSAFA Cup champions Zimbabwe at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Wednesday.

Ferrin praised his team in defeat.

“Unfortunately the game was decided on post-match penalties and when it comes to that there is nothing you can do.

“But I would like to congratulate my players because I brought a very young team, I had players under 18 years and they put up a good fight,” he said.

Angola have since been demoted to the Plate segment where they will face Malawi in the quarter-finals at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe on Wednesday afternoon.

“We lacked preparations prior to this match. Good luck to Lesotho they had played some matches here before this match and they are used to this pitch.”

  1. Even if u brot ba under 18 is that our problem?? Thats why there is COSAFA under 20 and senior national team. Lesotho were better than u and u were lucky to even go to penalties. Good luck with your youthful team!!!

  2. Truth is the Likoena of Lesotho have just really come of age. Their display so far in this tournament has been top drawer. A delight to watch. Anyone under rating them will do so at their own risk. This is the stuff we pay to watch. Big ups Lesotho. You have won me over & I wouldn’t mind to see u in the final. Please guys no more booing
