The Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) has announced a change in the Examinations timetable for grades Sevens and Twelve with immediate effect.
Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka this afternoon Examinations Council of Zambia Director Micheal Chilala says the Grade Seven examinations will start on 14th and end on 18th October 2013, while the Grade Twelve examinations will start on 4th October and end on 8th November respectively.
Mr. Chilala says arising from the revised timetable, it is expected that the grades seven and nine results will be released in time for grade 8 and 10 pupils to open school at the same time as other pupils in January 2014, while the grade 12 examination results are expected to be released before the end of January 2014.
Mr. Chilala adds that in an effort to reduce on the opportunity for examination irregularities; the grade twelve examinations will start with theory papers and end with practical papers.
He stresses that the early release of grade 12 results will give the school leavers enough time to apply for enrollment in college and universities and reduce the time of waiting before pursuing tertiary education.
Mr.Chilala adds that no change has been made with regards to grade nine examinations.
Meanwhile the Examinations Council of Zambia has also introduced midyear GCE examinations in response to the increased demand for GCE exams.
Mr.Chilala says the introduction of the midyear examination is effective from June 2014.
And Mr Chilala has warned Teachers in the habit of involvement in examination malpractices that the risk facing dismissal if caught.

Most of these exam malpractices are done by the source where these exam papers are prepapred from and mostly the teachers are also the most culprites intising the young ladies with these favours,please deal steanly with these people and once found,they should lose employment and if its a pupil,he/she should be expelled immediatly
The idea is gud but next tym be serious bama kaka stop wasting our tym and money photocopying useless tym table all the time. We hav alot of things to do. Why did u giv us the 1st one if you knew u had hidden table?

I think this is good for exam classes.
Move may be good, though I do not see the difference between those of us who used to open in March and write G9 exams on time. But you cannot just change like that, this year, when pupils may not have been adequately prepared for an early exam. For some, even the 1 month cut was something to help finish the syllabuses. You should have given notice to schools to plan for eraly exams, ba Chilala kaka!
Please let us always learn to give enough notice before making such important changes. The idea is good but it is like you want to ambush some people. Now some parents will start punicking by looking for unneccesary extra lesson teachers to finish the incomplete syllabuses because some teacher could not use their time properly.
Management woes, leadership woes, all the time. Typical of Ministry of Education. Is it because their clientelle are mostly young people. You do not given them enough time and when they complain and protest you come down on them like rocks. How do you announce a reduced study time 7 months in the year and the poor children have only 1-2 months before they find themselves being pushed into the examination hall. Starting in 2014 would have been a good and dilligent planners’ choice. We’ll never get used to such incompetence and insensitivity. An exam is a life-time decider. Educationalists should know better. Planning to fail people??
Grade seven exams are supposed to start the first Monday in the month of November, like it used to be in KK days
its a gud move.but next time consider the time for the notice.we dont want ama inconviences twapapata bane.

The main cause of leakeges is that, the standards at which exams are prepared. It was better exam in kaunda’s time not as at now they get intern

Its a gud idear,but again it gives a lot of work wen option subject with those other subjects e.g like in de morning u are writing maybe commerce and then in de afternoon’s you are writing science,so u have 2 make de sitting arrangement in de morning again wen u finish,u have 2 make de sitting arrangement 4 de afternoon’s and how many candidates are u at de skul.but 4 dat i saw it 2 be giving alot of work.
I think the idea of opening schools early in the year is good because it is an advantage to exam classes like G9.Most of the time they dont finish their syllabus due to disturbances and short time spent in schools which i have witnessed personally as a G9 in 2013.So releasing the results fast means going back to school fast,its a wonderful idea Bravo!
It’s a gud mov,especially the early release of results cause they will be enough time for grade nines to complete their syllabus nd for the grade twelves to apply early for enlroment rather than waiting fo too long.

It’s so surprising to note that the minister has announced that schools should stop over changing school fees,but i have been K950,000.00 for 04 subjects at Linda secondary school here in Livingstone.Now what the use of announcing.
