The Registrar of Societies has revealed that the Linyunga Ndambo Association and other affiliate associations in Western Province are not registered with the office of the Registrar of Societies.
Linyunga Ndambo Association are the key architects of the ongoing battle for succession in Western Province due to government’s alleged failure to honour the Barotseland agreement of 1964.
But Chief Registrar of Societies Kakoma Kanganja has reiterated that any attempts to have any group registered will not be tolerated because their intentions are inimical to the security of the nation.
Mr Kanganja said the Linyunga Ndambo Association and other similar grouping are unlawful societies and as such, according to Zambian laws cannot be registered.
He said his office is displeased with the unlawful happenings in Western Province in respect of Linyunga Ndambo and other affiliate associations.
This is contained in a statement released by Home Affairs Spokesman Moses Suwali.

@ KAY THE MAN – thank you for the positive message. These guys should not even be receiving wide press coverage, it makes them look big or even popular. Just go and see where some of them are sleeping and you will find that even a marketeer at Mongu market is doing far much better than them. They are just frustrated individuals who have failed to make it through working hard and want to spoil it for everybody by bringing confusion. All well-meaning Zambians should stand strong against these guys and support the innocent ordinary Lozis and other tribes living in Barotseland. As you correctly say, like any other part of Zambia, Barotseland is for all Zambians. We must not let a few individuals who have nothing to lose to spoil it for everybody.
We don’t need statements from the Registrar of Societies. It is nonsensicle for anyone to think that this problem in WP will go away by issuing threats. What is needed is for Sata and the PF to go and engage the people and apologise for having lied to them for the sake of gaining votes. It was Sata and the PF who promised the people that they would honour the BRE agreement. Sata spoke out of ignorance and now that reality has dawned, he has resorted to hiding in state house. Since these problems started, Sata has never been to WP. Engaging the Litunga alone will not work. There has to be a public apology, the same way false promises were being made. This is what happens when you are deceitful; you are always caught with your pants down.

The fact is WP is part of Zambia and it does not matter how it became part of Zambia. Barotseland was first and foremost part of Northern Rhodesia. At the time territories were considered for what they were. The Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland in our history is explicit. If Barotseland was independent of Rhodesia there would have been a Federation of Rhodesia, Barotseland, and Nyasaland. Do not paint a fake history.

Most Blogers do not understand the issue at hand. The Westerners are saying they should have been part of Zambia if Kaunda did not abrogate the BA64. The fact that the agreement was abrogated ment that there was NO agreement and the status quo before the agreement is what is obtaining. I must admit this chap sounds dull and can’t even read properly. When in fact is was the British who did so way back before 1963 when Zambia’s independence begin to be discussed. The British called the territory Northern Rhodesia and not “Northen Rhodesia and Barotseland” and their was only one colonial master over that land. In fact, the Barotseland must have been an after thought as they where undertaking due diligence that they stumbled across documents in which the a “A King gave power to another King over his land”….and they had to account for that..hence the shoddy agreement that means nothing.

For you to think what is happening will benefit the local you are either mad or brainless. According to their wild map of Barotseland the area encompasses Zimbabwe, Namibia, Angola, Congo DR and Zambia. Interesting comments here, mostly uninformed. I wish we could all go back to grade school, trace the genesis of the dilema we find ourselves in, and chart the way forward. Ridicule of either side will not make this dilema go away. It will take men and women of integrity, intelligence and resolve to find a lasting solution.
