Zambia’s wheels of Justice are slow

High Court

Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has observed that the four months that the people of Petauke Central, Malambo and Mulobezi constituencies have not had representatives is evidence enough to show how slow the justice system of Zambia is.

Executive Director, MacDonald Chipenzi told QFM News that the people from the three constituencies are suffering and no one seems to care about their well-being which is depriving them of their full participation in national development.

Mr. Chipenzi noted that no one is speaking on their behalf regarding issues that are affecting them and this is making them to be left behind in terms of development.

He stated that there is need for the country to transform the country’s judicial system to ensure that justice is propped up.

    • on the other hand the LAW says, election should be held within 90 days. 4 months what next?

    • For the justice system to work and serve the needs of Zambians, participation of all concerned is crucial and not just the few you have mentioned.
Develop is very slow because the vast majority of the population believe in their leaders to think for them.

  1. Look at the the bright side. The longer a matter takes the more money we make as lawyers and in some cases the more desperate plaintiffs become such that they end up withdrawing from court and settling out of court…and we still make money nonetheless!

  2. its the entire country which is slow, passport, court cases, title deed, local authorities is worse lol,

  3. issues concerning the state are not easy to understand, you people with knowledge of the Zambian law help us to interpret why Chibesakunda shouldn’t be the CJ than telling us who is related to who. These judges also its like they live in a world outside this world. Tell us, is there no judgement passed on the interest of expenditure eg do we really need by elections. Do judges understand budget allocations? The government also tell us what is excess money in your treasurer where you draw for by elections. They will be wage freeze, I think we need by election freeze, if not cancel also wage freeze

  4. Calls for judiciary reforms died after CJ Sakala was removed. The Post and the PF who were leading the chorus have gone ziiii. Why? The prevailing situation is what they longed for.
