Chris Katongo skips Jordan friendly

Chris Katongo has been ruled out of Zambia’s friendly against Jordan.

And the friendly match has been shifted from Amman to the Gulf state of Qatar on Wednesday.

Katongo has pulled out of the trip to sort out a contractual matter in China following the recent expiry of his contract at promoted Chinese club Henan Jianye.

“Christopher is still in China so we have given him a few days to sort out his contract. His contract ended,” Zambia coach Patrice Beaumelle said.

Katongo is however expected to be available for Zambia’s next friendly against Egypt on November 14 in Cairo.

And Katongo was one of four foreign-based players called up for the November 6 friendly in Doha.

Midfielder Noah Chivuta from Nakhon Ratchasima FC in Thailand and TP Mazembe defender Kabaso Chongo are in the travelling party.

Fwayo Tembo of Astra Giurgiu will also travel for the game and is currently holed up in Zambia following a contractual dispute with the Romanian club.

Meanwhile, the team leaves for Doha on Monday evening from Lusaka after gathering earlier in the day.

    • Chris Katongo’s case is understandable, excusable and provable. He is simply sorting out his contractual issues so that before leaves for National duties he must make sure things are well at the club.

  2. Can Chishimba K direct the immigration to call Chris so that we get our passport and downgrade him from Warrant office Class 2 to class 1
