President Michael Sata has urged newly sworn in Zambian Ambassador to China, Getrude Kasuba Mwape, to be cautious as she serves Zambia in that country.

President Sata said that the Chinese were intelligent people hence the call for Ms. Mwape to be careful during her discharge of national duties in China.

“The Chinese are far more intelligent than you are. So be careful,” President Sata advised.

And speaking to journalists shortly after being sworn in, Ms. Mwape pledged to work towards enhancing the existing relationship between the two countries.

She said Zambia has enjoyed 49 years of cordial bilateral relationship with China adding that she will further enhance these relations.

The Ambassador told journalists that she will aim at building from where previous ambassadors have left in a bid to sustain the interests of the two countries.

Ms. Mwape noted that the interests of the two countries were key to spearheading bilateral relationships.

    • Well number 1.1, Zambia has produced engineers who can’t even build a bridge. While china has produced engineers who design and implement. It’s very true Chinese people are intelligent. One of the things I like about Sata is his frank talk. This is got nothing to do with inferiority complex but simply warning her to be cautious in her discharge of duty. Maybe you don’t know the Chinese people as you Zambians think writing and speaking English is being intelligent than those who can’t.

      @peter – have you been to the university of zambia and seen the piles of well documented project reports,research papers in engineering from garbage collecting trucks, road sweeping trucks equipped with water dispensers,cheap smart grid technology to be used by zesco, electrical transformers specifically designed by zambians for zambian condition etc. But zesco opts to buy their machines from norway,sweden kaili nishi ba procurement officer will get a larger percentage in cuts if they are brought in from outside rather than local,perfect and similar example of this is chikwanda,the cuts he got by borrowing money.

  30. Why not appoint someone who can match the Chinese in intelligency? The only way to end this madness is to exclude illiterates from the electoral system. Kabimba is advocating that only ward councilors and MPs should stand for Presidency. He is effectively saying that no one who has gone past grade 12 should seek the highest office in the land. For too long now, we have been led by illiterates because its them who appoint government because of their numbers. We should exclude them from voting or otherwise introduce upper and lower vots. Why should my illiterate grandmother’s vote carry the same weight as mine? This way we will avoid governments like PF, who go to the masses and promise them heaven on earth in 90 days. Would and educated person buy that?

    • Every Zambian has an equal share in the Zambian enterprise and every Zambian knows what they want from this enterprise. Therefore each Zambian is entitled to an equal vote that determines the destiny of this enterprise. To say you should have a higher vote is to disrespect the collective wisdom of the people and to insult the blood of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for universal suffrage. This kind of arrogance can not be supported by any political party in Zambia.

  62. Generally as a nation-family we get along very well and this fortunate..It truly is an asset to us as a people. It has many benefits for Zambian society, it promotes harmony and the peace that we as Zambians are well renowned for globally. Very few other societies the world over have historically managed to live with each other peacefully and without conflict. In some places like Europe, the different tribes have had many vicious conflicts and battles among each other, such as the English and French war which lasted 100 years, or the more recent WW’s 1 and 2.     And speaking when he swore in the relative, Sata said Chinese were more clever than Zambians so she should be careful. Former Zambia National Broadasting Corporation Director General Joe Chilaizya has been acting Ambassador. Chilaizya is also married to the first lady’s niece.

    President Sata openly practices nepotism which is a crime in Zambia under the Anti- Corruption Act. With the Zambian parliament probably being the most dormant in the world, nothing will happen.
