The Grand Coalition on the constitution launched the honking protest Friday late afternoon in Lusaka to press government to release the final draft constitution.

The honking which was supposed to start at 17 Hours from the Munali Round about on Great East and end at the JCTR offices on Martin Mwamba road was almost aborted after riot police blocked the protestors.

The protestors were forced to re-route their protest and ended up driving to the Central Business District where the honking was done a few minutes before 18 Hours.

Some drivers on Cairo Road managed to join the honking which created some level of excitement around the Central Business District.

But Coalition Chairperson Father Leonard Chiti described the protest as successful despite attempts by police to thwart it.

Father Chiti said the honking will be intensified next Friday as the Grand Coalition strategies on other methods to elude the Police.

He said the Coalition is determined to ensure that government gives in to the demands to release the draft constitution and deliver a new constitution.

Father Chiti also condemned the actions of the Zambia Police Service to send riot police officers to block their protest march.

    • What do you mean we. What if I am none political and whole I am concerned about is if the government is implementing the infra-structure development plan? So, talk for your behalf and not others, bro.

    • Peter, in that case hide under table and hope that few crumbs will fall your way.

  1. Honk honk wont bring the constitution but knock knock, on the doors or on the police.

  2. the whole country should honk their horns every friday for better effect:

  3. Let us honk yes. I will honk to demand for Kawimba ‘s sanit. He is interfering with institutions. Does he know that councils have relative automomy. That is decampaining Pathetic Front. Overzelous chap. Shame kn him. Kapiri Council VIVA.

  4. Meantime your s.t.u.p.i.d MPs are lounging and farting in parliament while you seek alternatives for representation. What a country! Start firing your representatives for a start. If the demand is so overwhelming what the heck are they useful for inside that so-called august house?

  5. That is the spirit of Zambians. Chiluba failed to exploit us until we showed him who we were including Sata himself when he misled FTJ. The ball has stared rolling and we have started reading genesis chapter 1 unlike those who go straight to exodus on the ten commandments they don’t understand the basics of the Bible.
