A United Party for National Development (UPND) official has appeared in court for disrupting proceedings of the block agricultural show in Mbila ward in Chief Shezongo’s area in Itezhi Tezhi district.
The 29-year-old Jacob Mubambo, who was arrested on Friday last week, pleaded not guilty before Itezhi Tezhi magistrate,Munalula Mubita yesterday.
Mubambo is alleged to have led a group of UPND cadres who hijacked the show proceedings and allegedly turned the government activity into a political rally.
Mubambo of Dambwa in Livingstone, who is aspiring UPND candidate for Itezhi Tezhi Constituency, is charged with disorderly conduct likely to cause breach of peace contrary to Section 178F of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
It is alleged that Mubambo on June 6, 2014 in Itezhi Tezhi at Itezhi, conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.
On Friday last week, UPND cadres hijacked the Agricultural Block Show in Mbila area and turned it into a political rally.
The opposition cadres disturbed the whole function to the extent that only two exhibitors showed up and the rest were opposition UPND cadres who were dressed in political regalia.
The opposition political party cadres openly distributed UPND political fliers and were heard shouting ant-PF political slogans to the annoyance of Home affairs Deputy Minister, Nixon Chilangwa, and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Greyford Monde, who graced the agricultural shows in Mbila.
Despite Mbila area having the largest population of farmers and exhibitors, only two exhibitors were present.
And area Member of Parliament, Greyford Monde, has expressed disappointment at the incident in Mbila ward, saying it was unheard of for opposition political parties to high jack a government activity in the manner they did.
He threatened to recommend for the disbanding of the agricultural show if such behaviour by cadres repeats itself in the remaining block shows.
Typical of UPND ! The chaps thinks they can use their Mapatizya formula everywhere.Lock them up.
Sir,
How come you are the first to comment on most stories I see on LT?
On the other page, I wanted to say that:
Bembas are opportunists and will leave their own to die if there is money to be gained! In fact, if we are not strong they will continue to preach this failed Sata ati its better chipuba chesu! That is what one of my friends told me.
They dont care about their chief or culture as long as they can ‘eat’ from Sata. I can assure you even if today, Sosala is incacerated and whipped and humiliated at a post, these Bembas will stay ndwii! But for the Lozis and Luvales, pasop!!
Ba saulosi, i like your analysis in as far as UPND is concerned always very objective on UPND and HH but whenever its PF, you become a lawyer. what are you for PF? its very easy to read between lines and conclude that you are unfairly using the faculties of your mind despite your apparent education. you know this is the reason why we are going in circles as a country when good men like you decide to become a myopic character on purpose. on the guy arrested however, let him face the law whether he be UPND, MMD or PF even
@ Saulosi
Do you really know what is “Mapatizya formula”?
Southerners are intelligent and cannot be bought by 30 pieces of silver. Watch the space; 2016 is the end of the road for Monde politically.
I don’t believe that Mubambo or UPND cadres disrupted the Agricultural Show. The chap is just been framed. If Monde thinks he is popular in Itezhi tezhi, let him accept his expulsion and go for a bye-election. He can’t win.
Wow, what a blatantly PF story. Word is; Mubambo was the invited speaker at the show and was with Chief Shezongo. Monde (expelled by UPND and awaiting nullification of his seat) showed up and was embarrassed at his rival getting all the attention. Monde and Chilangwa instructed the police to arrest Mubambo and trump up charges.
Well, we’ll see what happens at court…
@ Saulosi
Is it wrong to wear party regalia? This chap was wearing party regalia the time he was arrested through the directive of Monde. Now the police has changed the case to disorderly conduct. How disorderly is it to wear a party regalia?
this is not true..why are they concocting the story..pf cadres monde and chilangwa are lying..
Since when has it been an offence to wear party regalia? If wearing party regalia was on offence, then this guy should not have been allowed past the gate. We see a lot of people attend functions including agric shows dressed in one party garb or another, but no arrests have been made. At youth day, PF youths marched past Guy Scott wearing military attire, which to me is more of an offence that the alleged party regalia! The Police were ndwii, pretending that all was well. We are not going to live like this in our own motherland. This regime must go, period.
@Saulosi,can you comment please?
Monde, Siamunene Siamvwemu, Blah, blah, blah – have these fellows got a heart for the ordinary Zambians who have suffered so terribly under the PF regime ? What I have observed of late is that as long as these chaps are fed through the CNP tablespoon, they are warm and dry and indeed, to them everything is fine in the country. Now my appeal is if these characters who have exhibited their folly consider themselves to be popular in their constituences, let them resign so that people can ascertain who and which party is popular in their constituencies. Political opportunists like ci Monde, Siamunene etc who are just there to feed their bellies are hipocrites in our political scene. I feel there is a critical need to move away from such kind of politics.Ubupuba, despite their good education.
which govt?which agricultural show?what were they showing? under these faild farming season can there be any agricultural show mwebantu balesa.to all my felow upnd am saying be strong, bring new members every day.vote HH,UPND.one zambia, one nation.
